Berenice Morella And Eulalie All At Zero Makes Me Sad Like How Are The Staff Beating Them :(

I was thinking the same thing when the authors mentioned there being another category all the students fit into the only person who doesn’t make sense to me is theo. The deans mention theo having gone to the academy before lenore I have two possible explanations for this

1. Theres a different characteristic for each class that comes through only this class is murder victims

2. Maybe there was foul play in theos death thats yet to be revealed

theory time: what unites all the students at nevermore academy?

tw: death, violence, blood, all the bad & sad stuff.

considering that nevermore academy is a kind of purgatory, there has to be a reason why it holds such a small number of people. in this realm must be plenty of places where different people, united by one characteristic, end up after death. this was also confirmed by the authors.

for a long time now I've been following the theory that all the characters of "nevermore" are united by the way they died. namely, they all were murdered.

almost from the very beginning of the story we were aware that annabel lee was murdered. the same thing was stated in the latest chapters too.

ada was clearly also brutally murdered by the nobleman she loved. the poor girl's body was probably never found. I'm afraid no one really looked for it though.

recently we also learned that duke didn’t just drown. his magical performance was sabotaged by a person unknown to us.

the cause of pluto's death was not specified in detail, but I'm inclined to believe that he was strangled by his tyrant father (and my baby felt a huge relief, I'm crying).

berenice was hit by a car, but I'm pretty convinced that it counts (?), because she was running away from a bad person. especially if we take into account the story of the poe's character with the same name.

oh, and I almost forgot about montresor, although there have been a lot (too much) of him lately. well, he was thrown under a train. not much to add.

the only people who stand out from the general pattern so far are prospero and eulalie. eulalie died in a fire. the exact cause of prospero's death is unknown to us, but with a high probability it was caused by some kind of disease, presumably the plague. however, I wouldn't rush to write these two off. the fire could have been the result of arson. not necessarily for the sake of killing poor eulalie. but in any case it's a deliberately arranged action. remember, in the eyes of the public, duke's death also seemed like an accident.

and the final chord of prospero’s life could have been, for example, not the disease itself, but a medical “mistake” during the surgery or something like that.

Oh also don’t think scarlets off the hook either when scarlet was trying to save brook after confronting judah and then hesitated to kill a sinner to keep him alive cause they might be her friend from her past life? May I also bring up this was after brook had let himself be rejudged so he could save scarlet from 9th level so if she had hesitated just a bit longer he wouldn’t have just been sent back to limbo he probably would have been sent to 8th or 9th level himself

Chase and scarlet have always been willing to end the world for eachother (tehe) but that energy is not matched towards brook. They will always be more important to eachother then brook could ever be to them no matter how important they are to him (which he mentions in ep 176 :3) and omg do I love well written aro representation TY GRAVE

Anyway I want to share a song from my prospero playlist, beneath the mask by lyn (from the persona 5 ost) this song has lyrics directly referencing the masque of the red death by edgar allan poe which if you didn’t know is the story prospero comes from :D

In the masque of the red death the kingdom the prince prospero oversees it facing a plague and the rich avoid it by hiding away in their homes which the poor cannot afford prospero grows bored waiting for the plague to pass so he hosts a masquerade (“at poe’s masquerade”) at the masquerade a figure appears wearing all red and a mask of a corpse prospero is offended by what he assumes is a cruel joke so he unmasks the offender (“please don’t take off my mask”) only to find there is nothing underneath (“I have no face to show”) the figure was a manifestation of the red death itself and everyone in the masquerade had just been infected

I was playing persona 5 sitting in cafe Leblanc and listening to this song when I was like “poe’s masquerade??” “Masque of the red death???” “PROSPERO!??!?!” Just wanted to share ^-^

(oh also this is an oversimplification of the masque of the red death I skipped a lot of the details and didn’t get into the themes at all please go read it yourself or find a more detailed summary its so good)
