i understand historically why it happens (colonization and wars and genocides and such) and im not here to argue that but hot take, i honestly wish Greek/Roman gods and goddesses weren't so popular and weren't so talked about. i think Percy Jackson and Marvel has made it so much worse but i get tired of running into polytheist/deity worship blogs that all honor the same like 5 gods. not intending to be mean but i get so bored reading 34758695 posts about how Aphrodite's light and love will cure self esteem and self love or whatever and lists of correspondences to rocks you need on your altar to honor loki
Valid. It does feel like there is clique-y behavior in witchcraft and pagan communities online where the same 5 deities are talked about constantly.
I also feel this popularity makes it hard for those interested in paganism to branch out and find what deities catch their interest. There are hundreds of deities. But I can only think of... less than 10 that get talked about consistently online.
So in my last post, I said that I communicate with my subconscious regularly. How do I do that, and what does it help me with? That will be answered here! Feel free to ask questions if you have any π
You may feel guided to read this post! If you do, don't ignore that guidance!! That is your subconscious mind telling you that it wants to talk to you, and showing you how to do it!!
The process of communicating with your subconscious is incredibly easy!
Specify that you want to talk to your subconscious mind. This can be as easy as thinking "I'd like to speak with my subconscious." Now that I have rapport with mine, I usually just call out "Subconscious?" in my mind, and it answers.
Allow yourself to be guided to its answers. This is the trickiest part of the process, but it does get easier as you practice! Basically, don't force yourself to think anything: the first thought that comes into your head should be your subconscious mind answering you!
Pro tip! If you feel resistance in your chest, mind, head, etc. you're probably forcing your subconscious to say certain things, and that's not actually what it's trying to say! When your subconscious mind talks to you, it will feel like your thoughts, but smoother and more free flowing.
After that, the biggest step is just taking with your subconscious mind. Talk to it like you would a person, because it's literally just you, and you want to treat you well π₯° It might take a little while to become comfortable conversing with yourself in this manner, but it becomes easier every time you do it!
You'll likely find that your subconscious has a personality similar to your own, but it may act how you'd like to act, or how you used to act, etc. It will appear in the way that will be the most comfortable for you, so don't worry about it! Remember that your higher self is literally just you: the you that exists on the 4D plane. It wants you to be happy, and it loves you dearly, because you are a part of it!
In terms of manifestation, you can ask your subconscious mind directly for things if you desire. Of course, it will give them to you, and it will reassure you that you have what you want as many times as you need! What you want may still take some time to manifest, but know that your subconscious mind will have more answers about the delay than anyone on Tumblr ever could!
Your subconscious mind will likely be able to guide you to answers and conclusions that you would not otherwise think of or consider. It knows what you need to do to manifest, and it knows what's stopping you. Don't be afraid to ask it questions! It would love to answer them so you can get what you want π
This is something that I very recently came to realize: that there are no wrong or right choices and that the universe just wants you to make a decision so that it can provide opportunities/doors. And that if you come to realize this, you will no longer be paralyzed by decisions - for fear of making the wrong one. So I thought this might help, and I had mentioned it in the new pick a card post. :)
Chakras, Elements, & Tarot: A Masterpost
β€οΈπ§‘πππππ
Hello Dear Ones,
With respect to the individual chakra posts I reblogged from @mychakraisout yesterday, I wanted to somewhat consolidate that information to further show the link between the Tarot suits, the elements, and the chakra system.
I also wish to apply my knowledge of the Tarot; plus what Iβve learned in my Reiki certification thus far in this post. There may be discrepancies or differences between what myself and others post. Thatβs the beauty of learning and a variety of schools of thought. The object here is to foster connection through diversity and mindfulness. Our readerships can take from and adapt what they glean from our posts as they wish to.
~~~~
The Tarot, as we know, is a powerful divinatory tool and a source for inner insight and wisdom that can manifest in our physical bodies and the world.
Reikiβs healing and wisdom is for both the physical and metaphysical bodies; harmoniously integrating the physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual.
Combined, the chakra system, and the Tarot as well, are not only connected to the tangible elements of Earth, Fire, Water, and Air, but to Light, Source, and higher planes of consciousness.
~~~~
Letβs break this down a little further. Traditionally, the four Tarot suits correspond to the following:
Swords: Air, mental functions, thoughts, communication (all forms), rationalization, speech.
Cups: Water, emotions and emotional responses, connection, relationships, healing, spirituality.
Wands: Fire, our drive, ambition, passions, and creativity.
Pentacles: Earth, the things which stabilize us, help us to feel secure and grounded.
The Major Arcana, however, tends to deal more in the abstract and can unify the concepts of the four Minor Arcana suits.
~~~~
Bearing this in mind, letβs apply these concepts to the chakra system; first by physical location on the body:
β€οΈ Root: Base of the spine/lowest part of the hips.
𧑠Sacral: Ovaries/testes.
π Solar Plexus: Stomach, just above the navel.
π Heart: Center of the chest.
π Throat: Base of the neck.
π Third Eye: Between the eyebrows.*
π Crown: Top of the head. *
*Though the chakras have physical access and healing points on the body, once you get past the throat chakra, you are working with your metaphysical/astral body. It extends 3-6 feet from your corporeal body, and the subsequent chakras connect to divine guidance, knowingness, intuition, compassion, and Source itself, from which Reiki energy flows. These chakras also reflect Light; the combination of all elements (Earth, Fire, Water, and Air) and pertain to the more nebulous Major Arcana in the Tarot, as opposed to the specifics of the Minor.
~~~~
Traditionally, these are the parts of the body, psychological and metaphysical areas the chakras assist in healing; stemming from those physical placement points:
β€οΈ Root β€οΈ
Physical: Skeletal system, teeth, large intestine, kidneys, blood, adrenal cortex.
Psychological: Survival, self preservation.
𧑠Sacral π§‘
Physical: Ovaries, testicles, womb, genitals, bladder, spleen.
Psychological: Movement, connection.
π Solar Plexus π
Physical: Pancreas, digestive system, liver, gall bladder.
Psychological: The will, relationships.
π Heart π
Physical: Thymus, heart, lungs, circulatory system, arms, hands.
Psychological: Love of self/others.
π Throat π
Physical: Thyroid, parathyroid, throat, ears, mouth, shoulders, neck.
Psychological: Communication.
π Third Eye π
Physical: Pituitary gland, eyes, brow, base of the skull.
Psychological: Intuition, Imagination.
π Crown π
Physical: Hair, the head, central nervous system.
Psychological: Compassion for self/others.
Metaphysical: Spiritual love, knowingness, divine connection.
~~~~
Taking this knowledge of the chakras a step further, they are interconnected with the elements, suits of the Tarot, and the Tarot itself, as follows:
β€οΈ Root β€οΈ
Element: Earth (Stability, grounding, security.)
Tarot Suit: Pentacles.
𧑠Sacral π§‘
Element: Fire (Passion, action, drive, ambition, creativity.)
Tarot Suit: Wands.
π Solar Plexus π
Element: Water (Emotions, emotional responses, healing, connection, spirituality, relationships.)
Tarot Suit: Cups.
π Heart π
Element: Water (Emotions, emotional responses, healing, connection, spirituality, relationships.)
Tarot Suit: Cups.
π Throat π
Element: Air (All forms of communication, thoughts, rationalization, speech, mental processes.)
Tarot Suit: Swords.
π Third Eye π
Element: Light (The combination of all elements; Earth, Fire, Water, Air).
Tarot Suit: The Third Eye is not tied to a specific suit, but rather the Major Arcana. Remember that this chakra as well as the Crown deal with the metaphysical/astral body, thus a broader concept to explore.
π Crown π
Element: Light (The combination of all elements; Earth, Fire, Water, Air). The Crown is also a link to divine consciousness, Source, and all that is.
Tarot Suit: The Crown is not tied to a specific suit, but rather the Major Arcana. Remember that this chakra as well as the Third Eye deal with the metaphysical/astral body, and in this case the divine. Thus, a broader concept to explore.
~~~~
In summary, the physical body, emotional body, and metaphysical body are all intricately interconnected. They do not, and cannot, function independently of each other. As such, the Tarot can be utilized to find out which areas of these bodies need attention and healing. Once these areas are healed and balanced, we are a more complete whole. β¨
Some basics of Crystals!!! Enjoy lovelies!!
Part 1 ββ‘β
this is very important
Disclaimer: This is a more personal post and involves a bit of UPG.
I didn't start witchcraft by doing deity work, in fact, I just started actively working with deities in the last two years! Before that, the only experience I've had with a god was the Christian God, but even then I only interacted with him* in the way that I was taught to: You pray to him but he probably won't respond. I was even told when I asked why God doesn't answer me, "That's just not how God works"...
This is no slight towards Christian witches, as I know they interact with the Christian God differently than non-witchy Christians and I would never claim to know their relationships with him.
However, due to this upbringing, I didn't know how to interact with deities. I had to unlearn what I had been taught about interacting with a god.
One of the things I had to unlearn is that, unlike how I was taught growing up, many deities aren't always going to be there to talk to you, they're a lot more human-like than we think. They aren't like how the Christian God is said to be: always there, always watching. w
I got scared when the interactions with my deities started to wane/ I wasn't feeling them or hearing from them as often and I started to worry that they'd abandoned me. That's not true! As with any relationship, there are times when you can't always be with someone, it's totally normal to go days, weeks, and even months without hearing from your deities. That doesn't mean that you've been left behind!!
So if you're feeling disconnected from your deities here are some things to keep in mind:
Just because they aren't always around doesn't mean they aren't always there for you.
Call them when you need them if you don't feel like they're around at the moment. Gods are used to being called to by humans, it won't offend them.
They may not show up right away sometimes. They are feeling, thinking beings, they have their own will and generally act accordingly to said will.
Deities are allowed to step back. If they feel the need to take a break from your relationship, or simply not interact with you as much, then that's just fine!
It's not always a reflection of you, your character, or your craft. Sometimes they just want to take a break and that's perfectly fine!
Sometimes, the problem is that we are too busy and we put our relationships with our deities on the back burner. In this case, most of the time, in my experience, they understand and if they need to reach out to you they will find a way.
If you feel like you've been disconnected from your deities and would like to take some actions to reconnect, here are some ideas:
Read up on their mythology. Even if you've read it all before, give yourself a bit of a refresher!
Do some divination. I use tarot but you can use whichever form works best for you. Use tsk the deity what you can do to reconnect with them.
Talk to them. Even if you feel like they aren't around, just talk to them. Tell them how you feel, how your day went, and tell them you want to reconnect. You can also write to them.
Give them an offering. Since this post is focused on reconnecting with deities, you probably already know which offerings your patrons prefer. So give them an offering and let them know you're thinking of them!
Do something that makes you feel more connected to that deity. This could be going on a walk, making a certain food item, creating art, playing a movie, and so on. Just do something that makes you feel closer to them.
All in all, everyone's experiences with Deities and Deity work is going to be unique to the person, as with any relationship in life. Do what works best for you, this is just a post to help remind people that deity work isn't always having your life fully devoted to a deity. Most of us aren't able to put that much of our time or energy into deity work. If you can and want to, that's perfectly okay, too!
*I was raised using he/him pronouns for the Christian God as that was how he manifested in my life and upbringing. However, I am aware that there are folks who choose to use other pronouns for the Christian God and I'm not disregarding nor disrespecting that. Use whatever pronouns for your chosen deities as you want, Christian God or otherwise. <3
Can you tell us a bit about Jophiel? She fascinates me.
Hello fierysword :) (I'm actually flattered that you've sent me an ask!)
So Jophiel. She's not one of the "seven" in my own practice, but I'd be more than happy to talk about an archangel π«
Jophiel (Jofiel, Zophiel, Iophiel, Iofiel, Yofiel, and Yofiel) is the "beauty of God" also seen as the "Angel of Beauty". She is also regarded as a companion to Metatron
You can petition her or pray to her for:
Seeing beauty in things (such as God's creation)
Seeing beauty in God (and his holiness)
Self esteem (seeing yourself as the divine see you)
Creative inspiration
Helping your thought patterns and addictions
Joy in life
Transformation
Considering this, her domains could be conflated with Haniel's (Anael, joy of God. Harmony, poise and grace) and Zadkiel (Sachiel, angel of Mercy. Who can help with stress, anxiety etc.)
But looking to her domains, you can consider her an Archangel of gratitude, perspectives and inner thinking. A great archangel for shadow work in combination with other angels (like Zadkiel, who according to the Zohar, helps her and Michael battle evil), a very strong contender as a transformer of negative to positive thoughts
Additionally you can consider her domains to be:
Wisdom
Spiritual and religious reading
Knowledge
As Jewish tradition notes that she is the angel guarding the Tree of Knowledge with a flaming sword (sword is also attributed to Uriel, and being a wisdom archangel can be conflated with Uriel) and so she is a guardian of knowledge. She is also said to oversee Sabbath day Torah readings
She has also been written to be the angel of the seventh heaven and guardian of the Torah, who also taught 70 languages to souls at creation
As a patron angel you can call her:
Patron of Artists and Intellectuals as the angel who can bring beautiful inspiring thoughts (also attributed to Gabriel and Uriel)
Patron of Recovering People, as she can bring joy and light after darkness (also attributed to Zadkiel)
Patron of Balance (though typically attributed to Anael), as her association with bringing beauty is also associated with Feng Shui
Some systems may replace Jophiel with Raziel though places Jophiel is mentioned, other than what has been mentioned, includes:
Pseudo-Dionysus works
Kabbalah
Calendarium Naturale Magicum Perpetuum
The Veritable Clavicles of Solomon
Sixth and Seventh book of Moses
In terms of planetary correspondences, Agrippa attributes Jophiel to Saturn (Cassiel in ars paulina) and Paracelsus assigns to Jupiter (Zadkiel/Sachiel)
Robert Ambelain says Jophiel is in charge of this cherubim ("Prince of Cherubim"); Haziel, Aladiah, Lauviah, Hahaiah, Iezalel, Mehahel, Hariel, and Hakamiah
It is said that Jophiel's colour is yellow (though typically I have my own associations with colours and angels. This is just a fun fact). Though it can make sense with yellows association with illumination, the mind, the element of air and all associations to follow
Her symbol and element is fire which is for her light, illumination of knowledge and the flame that leads the way
Her day of the week is Sunday (shared with Michael).
Here's her sigil/seal you can use when working with her:
Here's a prayer you can say to her:
Dearest Archangel Jophiel, archangel of beauty and wisdom, please bless my creative endeavors.
Open my eyes that I may notice the beauty in the people around me as well in every part of Creation, including myself.
Empower me to maintain a clear mind even in times of chaos and make my mind orderly and serene. Inspire me to trust in Godβs greater purpose for me and lend me the patience and the wisdom to recognize Godβs beauty in every situation. β Amen
