So like- at first I thought that Five being the only one who wasn’t killed instantly by The Handler was just very convenient, but this is The Handler we’re dealing with. She’s good. She knows how to shoot someone fatally, she simply chose not to, she wanted him to be last one alive, for him to know what she had done. She knows him and his biggest fears, she wanted him to suffer.

The Basics: Who are they?

The Sparrow Academy is another version of the Umbrella Academy. They are another group created by Reginald Hargreeves, or The Monocle in the comics, to help save the world. In the comics, they are top-secret, and exist at the same time as the Umbrella Academy. They recruit Vanya in the comics to be part of their team. Grace, or Mother in the comics, is in charge of them. In the show, it seems to be implied that they overwrite the Umbrella Academy, and are the only superhero group.

2. Their powers

Here are some of their powers in use at the end of Hotel Oblivion:

- Turn into sparrows

- Voodoo (Attack self, others take damage)

- Super strength

- Eye beam

- The cube guy?

- Rumor power

The other powers are unknown.

3. What happens next?

Lester, who is supposedly with the United States government, is tired of all these superheroes and villains nearly destroying the world. He is going to do something to regulate it. We don’t know yet, but I have a feeling it will have Captain America: Civil War vibes.

Vanya Hargreeves from The Umbrella Academy is very autistic coded in my opinion. She doesn't express emotions well and bc of this could be seen as cold by some, generally awkward in social situations, is easily overwhelmed, and playing her violin is a stim for her. Her powers are tied to her emotions so when she gets overwhelmed and starts to have a meltdown her powers react along with her. I see a lot of myself in her honestly.

I’ve seen multiple posts saying Vanya is autistic (i agree) but Klaus is peak ADHD I mean he’s happily leaping around his room whilst there’s a fire 😆 also Diego with his speech impediment and robot mom helping is FEELS ! 😭 (I have ASD / ADHD / stutter when I’m stressed) I love the metaphors !

Look, I made a sad! (Sorry! This already ruined some people’s day on Instagram yesterday!)

A little different on the format too - I’ve been pratting about with storyboarding lately, and with so many panels I wanted to try something new for a change for maximum impact and sadness!

Vanya’s Room:

Ok so Vanya’s room is actually pretty interesting. Sadly we really don’t see much of her room in the show except for this tiny shot and it’s kinda hard to see anything besides the basics (bed, chair, books, violin, and so forth)

But!

Thanks to bts pics, we actually can get a better look at some of the props inside.

This is pretty much just a clearer/closer shot of the hallway scene, but I can see:

Some wall art

A completely white suitcase in the corner? (Maybe for extra storeage/clutter?)

A teddy bear on top of the suitcase

A clock and a small/book journal on the nightstand

There’s other little stuff on the nightstand and in the cubby below (like a little box?) but I can’t really tell what it is.

There’s a small stack of books on the radiator and some more on the floor next to it. 

I think there’s some stuff under her bed too

Now for the other side of her room that never actually appears in the show.

We have:

A wall mirror

Some hooks for clothes

Sheet music stand

Some books propped up in the corner on the floor?

A dresser behind the door

On the dresser:

A little metal cat statue

A white bowl with some stuff in it?

Some plain white books (I really like how they added in the white details, I think it’s a nice nod to her powers/alter ego)

There’s some other stuff on there, but I can’t really tell what they are besides more books and maybe a little picture?

There’s also a shelf above her dresser, but again, I can’t distinguish much of what’s on it besides:

And a metronome! We also see a metronome appear on her character poster.

There’s also another very interesting detail about Vanya’s room, it eventually becomes apart of Klaus’s room.

If you watch the flashback scenes vs the 2019 scenes, you’ll notice Klaus’s room (which is right next to Vanya’s) is much bigger in the present than it was when they were kids in the 1x03 flashback.

That’s because at some point Klaus expanded his room and took down the wall (on the right) between his and Vanya’s.

Notice the gray bricks and the black radiator in front of the window.

You can also see the divide where the wall used to be (and that Klaus’s bed is still in the same spot)

I’m not really sure when it happened. One theory I had was that perhaps it happened because Vanya was sent away to school like in the comics?

But on the other hand, it looks like Klaus’s room had already been expanded in the 1x10 flashback where Vanya destroys the house. (And we know Vanya was still living there at least when Ben died at age 16.)

However, that flashback is *technically* a splice between the past and the present (because Vanya is remembering things but she’s also looking at their rooms in the present) so perhaps it doesn’t give us an accurate time frame? I’m not sure. 🤷‍♀️

But either way, I think it’s a very interesting detail. Vanya lost her room at some point and it’s kind of sad because the rest of the siblings still have rooms to come back to and even use them over the course of season 1...but Vanya doesn’t.

I had way too much fun with this. Basically what I think each of the siblings would make Five wear if he had to get rid of his blood stained uniform. Fratricide was nearly committed from all sides during the process

- her little hops into the group hug (big uwu)

- basically the whole salon scene with Klaus and Allison

- Vanya vs. Five standoff

- every moment of being gay with Sissy

- "Who I am is not a disease."

- learning to control her powers!!! strong independent woman!!!

- taking out a buttload of Commission agents at once

- The Scene With Ben (*sobs aggressively*)

- saving Harlan twice because she's just that badass
