MAX MAYFIELD X FEMALE READER
Masterlist
Maxine Mayfield was an.. interesting character. Definitely not one that I liked but definitely one that interested the boys, especially my brother.
"Dustin! You see your monster dog yet?!" I shout up at him. "I'm freezing my ass off down here!"
"Oh look there's dot- OF COURSE NOT!!" He shouts back.
"DONT GIVE ME THAT ATTITUDE!!" I yell, huffing as I pull the thin sheet tighter around my arms.
"Do you two ever stop bickering?" Max asks, rolling her eyes.
"Oh shut up." I mumble, pulling my knees to my chest, shivering in the corner of the run down RV.
A looming silent fills the air. Maybe it was from the thought of getting ripped to shreds but Dustin's demodog. Maybe it was the awkwardness radiating from Lucas as he watches the two girls bicker back and forth.
"Steveee? Helpppp." Lucas whispers up the ladder.
"Huh? What?" Steve questions, taking the first few steps down the ladder to see the two. "Oh my God- if you two can't get along one of you is coming up here." He says, looking at the two wide eyed.
At the same time, the girls flip Steve off.
"I hate teenage girls." He mumbles, climbing back up the ladder, followed by Lucas.
I roll my eyes, resting my chin on top of my knees. The bickering stops and Max sits there quietly, shuffling a deck of card.
"Are you cold?" She asks abruptly.
I look over at her suspiciously. "No." I lie.
She rolls her eyes. "I can see you shivering from over here." She pauses for a moment. "You can have the *end* of this blanket." She offers, gesturing to the heavy blanket covering her form.
I'm tempted to decline out of shear spite but the wind erges me to accept it reluctantly. I sit under the edge of the blanket, pulling it around my form. I was still freezing but not nearly as much. We don't look at eachother, trying not to make it feel anymore awkward than it was.
"God if I knew you'd take it all I wouldn't have offered." Max mumbles, pulling on the fabric.
"Sorry sorry." I mumble, moving closer to her. My shoulder presses against hers. I'm tempted to move but when she doesn't shy away, I settle in.
"Thank you for sharing." I mumble, crossing my arms as I look away from her.
"Whatever." She responds, her gaze focused on her cards.
Once again, awkward. That's all it ever was between us. After the bickering and the fighting died off. It was the awkward, soul piercing silence. I glance over at the watched latched onto her wrist. 11:47 pm. A yawn involuntarily leaves my throat, the palm of my hand rubbing against my eyes. I adjust myself, my head laying back against the wall. A small snooze couldn't hurt that much. My body relaxes and my head lols to the side, landing on the red head's shoulder. She tenses and I can feel her gaze boring into the top of my head. She attempts to shrug me off before sighing softly. A gentle hand comes up and places itself on my shoulder.
"I still hate you."
