This has been on my mind for a while and as an ally of the LGBT community, I would like to express my gratitude. There is great bravery and courage in being who you are - with anyone really - but I cannot express enough how wonderful and amazing YOU are. I understand that I have a lot of people who identify as part of the LGBT community and I would like to say,

I am proud of you and I support you.

You’ve done well, you’ve fought hard, and you live strong. Pride month is just around the corner (June), and to get you ready I’ve compiled a list of Korean LGBT+ Vocab for you to practice. Enjoy ~

성지향성 - sexual orientation  엘지비티 - LGBT 동성애자 - homosexual 동성 - same-sex 여성 동성애자 / 레즈비언 - lesbian 남성 동성애자 / 게이 - gay 양성애자 / 바이섹슈얼 - bisexual 범성애자 / 팬섹슈얼 - pansexual 무성애자 - asexual 동성결혼 - same-sex marriage 커밍아웃을 하다 - to come out 성소수자 / 퀴어* - queer 이성애자 - heterosexual 성전환자 - transexual      ~ *퀴어 - queer is a better translation as      성소수자 means sexual minority

성정체성 - gender identity  에이젠더 - agender 젠더플루이드 - gender fluid 넌바이너리 - nonbinary  양성적/ 앤드로지너스 - androgynous 성전환자 / 트랜스젠더* - transgender  트랜스맨 - trans man  트랜스우먼 - trans woman 생물학적 성 - biological sex 시스젠더 - cisgender 성별 - gender 전한중 - transitioning     ~ * again, 트랜스젠더 is a better translation for      transgender, because 성전환자 means ‘sex change patient’

My town is gone.

If you’ve been watching the noise and paying attention to California, you’ve heard about the Camp Fire.

In a matter of hours, the fire jumped to 20,000 acres. This morning it reached 70,000. My town of Paradise, where I’ve lived my entire life, was consumed entirely. Very little containment has been reached and the situation is absolute hell.

My house was one of the first to go.

My mom and my sisters and I barely got out, in separate cars, and we got separated for 10 hours. My mom and little sister were stuck in Paradise with all my pets in the flames until my stepdad was able to get gas to them so they could get out. My cat was lost, and I personally was only able to grab an extremely small amount of my own belongings because I was helping my mom to grab important documents and photos and to get the pets situated.

We are now homeless, with no clue where to go from here, and desperately in need of help to get food, clothes, supplies, anything. My mom has been disabled for 3 years and we survive on a single income from my stepdad, who is a firefighter. His friends have been hurt trying to fight this. We have a dog with us, and two guinea pigs, and a bearded dragon.

My mom set up a fundraiser, even though we are not at all the type to ask for so much help.

Nickelodeon have announced a plan to build an underwater theme park in Coron, Palawan, Philippines. They claim the 400 hectares would “advocate ocean protection,” however by building artificial structures they will actually damage and disrupt Palawan’s marine ecosystems - one of the Philippines most beautiful natural areas.

For a channel that targets children, this is unacceptable and sends a terrible message - to destroy the natural world and replace it with plastic and fantasy. 

WE need to preserve what we have left and celebrate the beauty in nature.
