Okay, so:
I’ve seen a few posts that are pitching, like, Fiyerboq equivalents of Gelphie moments (What Is This Feeling, the Popular makeover scene, etc) and it made me realize something:
In this hypothetical Fiyerboq-centric AU, Fiyero and Boq would have the Glinda and Elphaba dynamic up until Defying Gravity, at which point, they would switch roles.
If Fiyero and Boq were the ones to discover the truth about the Wizard, Boq would absolutely not be willing to give up the popularity and acceptance that he’d yearned for his whole life like Elphaba did.
In contrast, Fiyero would have learned to do the right thing, no matter the personal cost. He would make the same decision as Elphaba, leaving Boq behind.
When Jason Grace wakes up, he's surrounded by friends. He's holding hands with a beautiful girl who says that they're in love, and there’s a boy with a wild grin who says they’re best friends. Jason doesn’t know what’s going on, but he knows he's surrounded by people who care for him and want to help him.
When Percy Jackson wakes up, he's almost completely alone. His only connection is a wolf that seems to be judging his every move as it decides his worth. He's fighting for his life and desperately searching to find a place that would take him in and accept him.
When Jason and Percy were switched, they didn't just have their physical selves swapped. They had their lives swapped. Jason got to believe that someone loved him, and Percy got to experience what it was like to have no one.
So this plot bunny was born due to @mrskrazy amazing Ghost Rider drawing of Arthur. Don’t know if I will ever write this, but feel free to add or write about this au, also big thanks to @deputyoneill for helping me flesh out this idea. Also bear with me, I’ve been trying to make heads or tails of Ghost Rider lore and it is so damn confusing, if I get something wrong please correct me, but no hate.
So this au starts six months before blackwater, job. It all started late one night when John and Arthur are riding back from a successful job, the pair come to a crossroads and at the crossroads is the Stranger. The stranger makes a comment about how wonderful a job Arthur has been doing, doing all these deeds that would send his soul straight to hell. Arthur and John are confused as fuck, and try to attack the Stranger but, it doesn’t work. The Stranger simply says that’s it time for Arthur to come with him. Arthur falls to the ground in pain, and John in a moment of fear and panic falls to his knees next to Arthur and states that he loves him, the Stranger glares daggers at John and says something about how he can’t take Arthur soul to hell, but he could do something else. Again Arthur and John look confused at the man, and the man says that if he can’t take Arthur soul, then Arthur will collect the souls for him. The Stranger held up a ball of fire and tossed it Arthur. The man started to scream out of pain, and then he started to transform. The Stranger says that when it’s dark or if he’s in the presence of evil the rider will come and he will collect the souls of the damned. With that the Stranger is gone, and Arthur is now a flaming skeleton.
It takes months for John and Arthur to get use to this new form and powers. At the start John and Arthur would rush out of camp, before night came. (One time they forgot and to there shock Arthur didn’t transform.) And then blackwater happened, and Arthur has to will himself from turning when they save Sadie. And then Micah, gets arrested in strawberry. Arthur goes but he doesn’t want to. And then it happens, after Micah is freeded, he turns. Much to shock, horror and fear of everyone. And then it hits Arthur, he looks at Micah who is looking at him with the fear of God in his eyes, and due to the riders powers he can see every sin that Micah had committed. And then it hits Arthur it was Micah who betrayed them at blackwater and had plans to turn Dutch in. Arthur in a fit of rage used the Penance Stare to kill Micah. And then he turns back, the lawmen could stare in horror, and Arthur flees. He lies to Dutch, telling him that Micha was hung. Dutch was not happy, but with Micha gone the gang seemed more at ease.
Arthur: He tossed a few drinks together, poured it out, and made you drink it? How was it?
Albert: Disgusting.
Bartender: That’s not what you said.
Albert: No, because you were there.
Bartender: Well, I’m here now.
Albert: *gesturing to Arthur* But I’m next to my big man.
Do the gale force soldiers witness Fiyero’s transformation? Or do they leave him tied up and come back for Torture part 2: For Bad in the morning/after a coffee break then panic because
a. someone’s obviously used the clothes of their mostly dead ex-captain to make a creepy scarecrow decoy, suggesting the real Fiyero has miraculously escaped in his underwear,
b. they believe they’ve forgotten where they put him, because there are so many other scarecrows (a frankly ridiculous amount!) already in that cornfield, Fiyero’s body blends right in and it takes all day to check them all and come up unnervingly empty. (Oops! All scarecrows!) Prompting the soldiers to check them all again and again “How could you forget?” “Why did you have to tie a sack over his very recognisable face?” “You told me to?!” “Stop gaslighting me!” Etc
c. free space
d. they did see the transformation and it terrified them so much they scarpered to the nearest pub and drank to forget
a.a. they assume Elphaba has taken their dead guy, wholesale, “What do you even do with a dead prince?” “Bury him I guess,” “Use his bones for evil spells,” “I would put the dead prince in an ornately crafted glass coffin in the woods, so that the Winkies and woodland Animals can pay their respects and gaze upon his beautiful face.” … “Except we beat his face up.” “Yeah we beat his face up.”
I’m suffering the thought equivalent of zoomies I’m so so sorry
Loolll Firstly I got a good chuckle out of Torture part 2: For Bad, so thank you for that!
Honestly I've always thought option D - that they did see his transformation for several reasons:
They're supposed to torture Fiyero "until he tells us where the witch went" and (despite the fact that they do know where Elphaba is by March of the Witch Hunters - I think she's beyond being subtle at that point, and she does have good defences) I just can't believe Fiyero would ever tell them, he'd die first. So I do not think they are done with the torturing when he's transformed.
You have to remember that these are Fiyero's men. Guards who have worked under Fiyero, probably considered him a friend, and all along he has been betraying them and working for the Witch. They are probably not the most pleasant people in the first place and they are angry. I don't think any of them are giving up for a coffee break until he's done what they want and is dead
I actually think she casts the spell pretty fast? Like wishing for his flesh not to be torn and to not be feeling pain when he's beaten, is going to be pretty redundant more than 10 minutes after Fiyero has been captured (like it's obviously long enough for there to be some possibility for him to be "already dead or bleeding" but there's also a chance of his survival)? I imagine she got to the nearest safe place and cast. And Elphaba doesn't even cast the spell for that long before giving up and falling into despair so yeah, I imagine the men see it
They would want the body. There's a lot of power displaying tortured Fiyero to Oz whether it be "look what the Witch did to our beloved Prince" or "look what happens to traitors" it sends a message to the Ozians. I can't imagine them going without it if they can help it (and the fact they do come back empty handed and presumably lie about what happened to Morrible, can't have impressed her much)
Why doesn't the scarecrow get caught later then? I imagine the guards still don't necessarily know he's turned into a scarecrow - I imagine they ran away the moment the freaky magic started happening (and again, lied about the success of their murder when questioned by their superiors). There's also a non zero chance that, when they were taking a stiff drink after it all, Elphaba all "no good deed will i do again" returned to the field, found no Fiyero and the guards drinking (she presumes in celebration) and just burnt them all to death.
Thanks for the question! It was fun to specuate!
Do you guys think that Arthur knows how to make flower crowns?
Because I think when Tilly joined the camp, she was already hurt by the people around. She wasn't a child, she was a survivor.
And I think Arthur being in late teens/early twenties, while being a brute and a criminal, somehow he saw that Tilly wasn't happy. And while he would rather be out hunting, he sat down with her. He took her with him around. In those moments, he didn't treat her like a woman, he treated her like a girl. Like a teenage girl that wants to do dumb stuff. That wants to talk about pointless things, about her dreams, about a book she read. Who wanted to annoy her older brother just because. And he gave her that space, to be a younger sister.
And that's why he knows how to make flower crowns, he had to learn for Tilly.
please say your thoughts about camp jupiter and specifically any like any headcanons or ideas you have about nr, the characters, their relationships and backgrounds, literally anything!!! i am a fellow cj enthusiast and would absolutely LOVE to hear your thoughts on it <3
-@brooklyn-house
okay okay I didn't answer this for WEEKS I'm super sorry my head was so empty and I got hyper fixated in another fandom, so I didn't want to deliver half assed answers, but I'm back!! recharged lol
• new rome/camp jupiter probably has a million secret entrances to different places, that probably only reyna knows of.
• octavian was actually friends with jason and Reyna when they were little kids but he grew to be evil and they became frenemies.
• jason and reyna spent basically all their time tgt going to different historical locations, if jason was assigned a quest he'd be like ‘can reyna go with me please?’ because they'd use it as an excuse to tour places and talk about history.
• jason definitely had other best or atleast close friends in cj or nr in general, apart from reyna. and I feel like that person knows him too well (maybe even more than reyna does) and after his death they cried their heart out, and nobody knows that they were close friends. this friend/friends have so many letters and things jason wrote to them.
• baby jason and reyna would love to try on the armours that were put on the statues in cj and would run around with it. they were definitely rebel kids.

dexter: we have heart?
daring: heart? no. me. i’m pointing at myself. i’m going to win this for us.
i can imagine that when they first meet on the yellow brick road and dont know each other, Boq wouldn't be concerned about "the Scarecrow" losing straw. just assumes its normal for living scarecrows and figures the guy doesn't seem bothered. but after the two of them figure out who each other are (no matter how poorly that conversation goes) Boq would see Scarecrow loose a bit of straw and immediately goes "FIYERO. FIYERO ARE YOU OKAY." totally forgetting how easily he's walked it off the past days of traveling. Fiyero has to go into damage control mode and assure Boq He's Fine because he does NOT want to deal with Boq rusting himself again.
