I completely forgot that Hunter and Willow texted eachother on penstagram, Willow shared his contact with Luz and everything, and Gus was there to witness him slip into Willow’s DM’s, but he was still pretty suspicious about Hunter, still calling him the Golden Guard before addressing him by his real name. And then Hunter acts like a jackass with his “wOulDn’t YOu lIKe To kNow” so I guess Hunter literally only texts Willow? During the illusion of Willow, he even sees right through her right away, it make’s me wonder how often they text that he knows her that well already. At the same time, when he was brought to that safe place, Willow just ignored him until he started rambling, which makes me feel like she was also still suspicious of him? I guess maybe they text often enough for him to be able to know her well but they still have obvious differences since he was still brainwashed by Belos, so she assumed he would still be on the bad side and maybe even willing to give her up for Belos?

Not sure how to think about Huntlow or Winter. Cuz tbh, since the very MOMENT Hunter was introduced, I saw the fandom shipping them and I was like “why??? how??? They don’t even seem to have anything in common or even personality wise seem to vibe well” I didn’t even think they’d meet at all actually. But when they did and I saw that little blush at the end of Any Sport in A storm, I didn’t think too much of it being a teaser for him possibly having a crush. I just thought he was embarrassed cuz Willow teased him a little. Now though- it shows LOL

I’m not sure the show will go anywhere with this, I doubt he’ll ask out Willow in the show because of timing and they also already have two pairs going on already. These breadcrumbs are really cute though. But I honestly can’t see Willow liking him back, I have no clue how to pin her or Hunter’s sexualities and even for a while I thought Hunter might’ve been aro/ace himself but if anything it’s also fitting he’d have a cute crush on a girl.

I’m so goddamn glad Hunter and the Emerald Entrails met the way they did and he made an actual friend group though of course the show would only focus on Gus and Willow but they all also had small bits of spotlight too in Any Sport in A Storm and Labyrinth Runners. and Gus really did go on his Life changing field trip with Hunter. He too, got some of the trauma, but ig its more reliving trauma and he got through it in the episode. I like how this time, Hunter wasn’t the only one who needed help, he actually is actively helping others now. We got to see him work through his trauma, and I’m really glad he used his own experience to help Gus. And they both laughed at the end too sisvajhaiab

Im really really happy we get to see more of Gus and his past and we FINALLY get to see how he met Willow. The structure of this episode and all the small things it revealed and just other character development and showing how other characters have grown from other sub plots, GODDDD. Like I always thought they’d dedicate another episode to the specific characters that were featured in one of the subplots and such, put a focused spotlight on that, but then they actually just showed small developments and in the end THEY ALL ARE STILL SO PLOT RELEVANT. ALL OF THEM ENDED UP WANTING TO TAKE MIXED MAGIC COURSES AND AAAGHGHV THE WRITING IS SO GOOD

Why do selective people in this show not know what a hug is. Like I understand Hunter, actually. Emperor Belos has probably only put his hand on his shoulder as his only show of “physical affection” towards Hunter so he’s never seen a hug.

BUT EDA GREW UP IN A NON-TOXIC LOVING FAMILY, WHY DOESN’T SHE KNOW WHAT A HUG IS. Unless like- other characters also didn’t know what hugging was before Luz came?????

Someone made a post about how Hunter’s office in the ship looked so nerdy but my first thought was this and I have no clue why

Ok wait how so was there a guy in the tribe that just so happened to look exactly like King??? Like they all seemed to wear their masks and costumes almost all the time, and they assumed his dad must have been around long enough to teach King to also wear that stuff 24/7????? Tbh that whole thing is sorta hard to wrap my head around. Tank also went out of his way and everything to send the letter, and he memorized King’s name and everything. Im really just confused and curious about the tribe’s relation to the Emperor’s Kingdom and all that, like how much do they really know about his army and reach if he thinks they’re no big deal, how often do they travel around the Boiling Isles, is the place theyre from even still the Demon Realm?

Ok back to more shorter notes:

The tribe showed that they started having doubts about the elder but they still seemed to believe him which made me mad because I really liked Tank and I hoped he would become an ally later😔

Im completely ignoring the 3 projects I have due on Monday just to rant about this damn show what is wrong with me

I was slightly sad to see Hunter not being shown at all but I’m glad it also showed Luz’s reaction to the emperor’s plans. It was a hella traumatizing experience for the both of them. It HURT so much just to see that first frame and her face, and the fact she FREAKING DREW ALL OF IT TOO, LIKE OKOK I KNOW ARTISTS ALL CREATE ART FOR DIFFERENT REASONS AND COPE WITH IT IN DIFFERENT WAYS, AND TO ME REDRAWING TRAUMATIC EVENTS IS SORTA LIKE RELIVING THE SHIT but yea maybe it also just helps to get it “out.”

Anyway—- It was also so hard to see Luz’s panic after retelling everything. Like the way she felt it was her fault for following through everything- god. But then we see her usual ambitious impulsive self come back immediately, though its put aside by doubt “I just need to figure out how…” HER CHARACTER WRITING IS JUST SO TRUE TO HER CHARACTER EVEN AFTER ALL THIS TIMEEEE.

I thought that maybe she would need much more time to get through her trauma but after Lilith entered they showed she wasn’t over it that easily. Though when King brought up the letter she seemed to be much better but I think she was just trying to distract herself with King’s problems, like how she did with Amity in reaching out. I guess in a way this is good for plot devices, since this episode would be much more focused on King and his feelings since he hasn’t had much spotlight in a long time.

HOOTY ‘I will protect these silly children with my life’ BIRD WORM.

I like how Hooty was included in this briefing like he was always usually a joke character but throughout season 2 he’s gotten to have a real character and personality though he’s usually paired with Lilith. Even though Lilith did appear this episode and we got to see their dynamic again(omg I scREAMED when she entered I love her so much) Hooty going with Luz and King as their “guardian” established him as his own independent character. He had genuine concerns about King going alone (which was more foreshadowing that made me immediately feel like the tribe was gonna turn on them) but it was nice to see that he was like- an actual adult??? Hooty in general as a character is hard to pin down because of how stupidly oblivious he seemed in the beginning but now I guess he’s to be considered an actual adult and not like some “creature.”

Just a silly thought on the side, when I first saw Luz in her Grom outfit and the table banquet I thought it was a date with Amity at first LOL

King mentioned how he had to prep himself for Luz leaving him, and it just hurt me so much. But now that we know that he’s a titan and Luz needs titan blood for the portal, I feel like he might struggle a bit to give up some of his blood (also thats straight up morbid but idk how else to really word it) because it would be all entirely on him whether or not Luz gets to return to her home. I don’t think Dana will make it that much of a huge conflict but maybe a small internal one for King to cope with later😭😭 Damn all these characters have so much going on

When we found out that one guy who sent the letter wasn’t King’s father I kinda knew then that he wouldn’t meet his father that easily in the tribe. I predicted the tribe would turn on King and everyone at some point but I didn’t expect it to be because King was a Titan

After seeing the promo art I’m so mad on King’s behalf he never freaking got that game of catch

I honestly don’t have too many specific thoughts or analysis ideas to talk about so I’m just gonna spam about predictions and stupid thoughts I had throughout the episode

Just realized but why did Belos order Hunter to slay a selkidomus in Separate Tides? He only asked for it to be slayed, not for any of its parts or whatever to be collected. He used selkidomus scales to build grimwalkers and it would make sense if he wanted any part of the beast to be scavenged but Hunter didn’t even check the body to see if it was killed.

Ive rewatched the newest episode three times now and I saw a comment saying that Belos will be able to control those outbursts now that he’s able to capture those palismen, but it made me wonder- if those palismen were the reason for the outbursts then why would they calm down when he consumes more? Unless I’m remembering those scenes wrong, and they go away on their own before he consumes them.
