IF YOU KNEW ME, YOU WOULD KNOW THAT I WILL NOT SHUT UP ABOUT TOLKIEN (and about JC of course :D) AT ANY GIVEN MOMENT. Hence Beren and Luthien AU! XiCheng <3 (Beren!JC and Luthien!Xichen) The Beren and Luthien story is very contexted and may confuse you if you haven’t read the Silmarillion (if you don’t know what that is, it is a very extensive thousand years ago prequel to Lord of the Rings.) But I’ll try to make it very simple and I’ll put in some MDZS too. Jiang Cheng, a young orphaned mortal man, suffered the destruction of the Jiang House. The Dark Lord has persecuted his house for the unwillingness to give up their territory and for their fierce opposition. The Jiang house was sieged and massacred (much like Lotus Pier) and JC was only spared because he was sent away to scout on the Enemy. He came back to a macabre. He was devastated and grief overwhelmed him. His parents and kin dead, WWX missing and JYL still at their grandparent’s territory. He swore revenge upon his mother’s bones and took her ring, Zidian, a powerful ring that controls lightning. Ok, let’s pretend that men, dwarves, and elves are all cultivators. Men, the weakest and Elves, the most powerful.
Zidian was a powerful heirloom made by a renowned Elven craftsman and gifted to a Yu ancestor for saving the elf from an ambush. He spent four years as a solitary outlaw, hellbent on revenge but he became a friend to birds and beasts- yes like a Disney princess, AND! he became a full-blown vegetarian. Slaying orcs, he did not fear death, only captivity, but being bold and desperate, he escaped both death and bonds. His deeds became known throughout the land and there was a price on his head that could match the bounty price of an Elven King. So all in all, he was a top-tiered vigilante, tired as fuck, grumpy as hell, thicc of thighs from all the running, and needs sleep ASAP. He stumbled upon the borders of Gusu (okay, replacing Doriath with Gusu), and went through it because he doesn’t give any flying fucks. The thing with Gusu that it is an enclosed elven kingdom with a very powerful barrier made by Madame Lan (okay, replacing Melian with Madame Lan), a Maia (equivalent to an angel). Qingheng Jun is dead here btw but Madame Lan is staying for her babies, the twin Jades, instead of going back to Valinor (heaven).
So Lan Xichen, the eldest immortal Elven prince, was the most beautiful of all Eru’s (God) children. Half-Elven and Half-Maia, he was very, very, powerful. He could very well kill you with his voice only without lifting a pinky. Ok, to establish, in Tolkien’s World, music is the very essence of power and creating, heck the whole universe is created through an opera gone wrong. So yeah, singing with power could very well kill you or heal you. Anyways, back to JC, the barrier, called “the Girdle of Madame Lan” is very veiled and a really impossible maze. Only at the guide of the Elven sentries or the orders of Madame Lan does the barrier give in. But he surpassed that because he’s so fucking tired and doesn’t really care anymore. And Madame Lan liked him (she can read hearts and the future ok? She’s an angel) and could sense that he was LXC’s fated one. She kept silent of course. So without any grace, he collapsed into his bedroll after finding a clearing and bandaging his wounds. The clearing also happens to be LXC’s favorite. And unlike the book, this AU will be ultra-slow burn friends to lovers, instead of love at first sight. Cos I like it that way?? And JC is blushing because of the sheer elven prettiness and power that radiated off of LXC (yeah keep telling yourself that, JC.) And if one knew of the story, you would have a vague idea of how this will all end. I’ll hopefully add more to this because I ADORE this AU, and yes I already thought all of it. Whoo good job, self :D
friends –> dumbasses –> accidentally engaged
Take some dumb fluff pls. And I HC that due to JC’s core being originally not his, the callouses and scars from rebuilding LP stays, not that he really cares.
And LQR has one in-law he adores and its not WWX.
"Why does Batman need to be a billionaire?"
"He has to fund the Justice League. They often have a space program."
"But couldn't he do more good if he just invested-"
"The Earth is routinely invaded by aliens, gods, and the forces of an extraterrestrial god of tyranny."
Little rant :
I don't hate Scott, I just prefer Stiles's character over his because of the movie , the movie felt like really horribly written fanfiction by a misunderstood Scott fan.
1. In the movie, Scott's character development is thrown in the drain thanks to I'm guessing the bad writing ? It feels like he's just trying too hard to live out his high school glories.
2. Scott didn't lose anyone significant in his life aside from Allison and it made no sense to say Scott is still in love with Allison and to make them get together after like 15 years.
3. Scott knows damn well the trauma that Kate inflicted on Derek by bringing his whole family down. Then why would he just let Derek sacrifice himself knowing that he finally found a family and that Eli will lose his family, it makes no sense for his character
Rather than blaming Scott for being a shitty friend/ Alpha, it's time we blame the terrible writing .
Scott's character had a lot more depth in the TV show than in the movie and the movie managed to undo all his growth within that time frame.
Stalker - Courtship
Warnings for a past abusive relationship and stalking. Jiang Cheng is still fucked up about it, but it’s only ever talked about.
When Jiang Cheng finds the unstamped letter in his mailbox, he doesn’t immediately think anything of it. It happens frequently enough that some religious groups or protesters go from house to house to deliver their letters and Jiang Cheng has half a mind simply throwing it away without even reading it.
But then he catches sight of his name on the envelop and that’s when he starts to worry.
He still takes the letter with him into his apartment, unwilling to read it out in the open, but instead of immediately opening it once he’s inside he thumbs the envelope for a while.
Surely it cannot be. This hasn’t happened in a long time and Wen Xu should still be in prison.
Jiang Cheng is probably worrying for nothing.
With that thought in mind he finally opens the letter, scanning it once, before it falls out of his numb fingers.
This cannot be happening again.
Dear Jiang Cheng, the card reads. I really do enjoy seeing you every day and I would want nothing more than to go on a date with you, if you would do me that honour. I’m eagerly awaiting your answer.
It’s not signed.
It’s not signed and Jiang Cheng finds that he has trouble breathing.
Seeing you every day, the card says and Jiang Cheng has to fight the urge to cover all his windows up and never leave his apartment again.
Instead of giving in to that urge though, he fumbles for his phone and dials Wei Wuxian’s number as quickly as his shaking fingers will let him.
“My dearest little brother,” Wei Wuxian greets him with and his antics do make him feel a little bit more grounded, Jiang Cheng has to admit to that.
The underlaying panic is still there, though.
“Please tell me Wen Xu is still in prison,” Jiang Cheng says without greeting him and he refuses to have a panic attack when he’s met with silence.
“I haven’t heard anything else,” Wei Wuxian finally says, and all traces of humour have vanished from his voice. “What’s going on?”
“Can you check?” Jiang Cheng wants to know, because he’s not going to sleep well without absolute certainty that Wen Xu is in prison and can not watch him every single day.
“I can check in with Wen Qing. She keeps close tabs on him. But I’m sure she would have told me if anything changed. What’s happening, Jiang Cheng?”
“It’s probably nothing,” Jiang Cheng mutters, because of course Wei Wuxian is right.
If Wen Xu got released early, Wen Qing would have at least told Wei Wuxian, if not Jiang Cheng himself. Of course there’s no reason to worry like this.
“Tell me about it anyway,” Wei Wuxian coaxes him.
“I got this card,” Jiang Cheng tells him, and reads it out to him.
It doesn’t sound any better out loud, Jiang Cheng has to admit.
“It could be a secret admirer,” Wei Wuxian says after a beat of silence and Jiang Cheng scoffs.

INCORRECT QUOTE HERE by @incorrectbungoustraydogs
i was really inspired and wanted to practice animating so!! ive been working on this on and off for a few months c:
If your boyfriend is so scared of abandonment and vulnerability that he is willing to make you openly weep and let you believe that you hate yourself, leave his ass Jesus Christ. His priorities should not be that shit, I don't care how scared he is of you leaving him, that fear has become selfish.
I'd much prefer he just be in the closet.
That first one is the boyfriend who would rather hurt you now than be hurt later so he feels like he's at least in control. That is hurt or be hurt. Improvement in the end is great, but that's how you write a reformed antagonist, not a flawed protagonist.
Mike being able to say I love you but refusing because HE doesn't want to get hurt is much worse than if he can't say it but tries his best to work around it for her to feel loved.
Selfishly withholding and giving all you can but it's not enough are two VERY different things.
We know only one of those two is consistent to his character. But people would rather claim he would do something like that say his behavior is both in character and queer. They would rather make their fave their most hated than have their fave be queer. I wish I never knew that.
