Random Linguistic Worldbuilding: A Language With Six Sets Of Pronouns, Which Are Set By One's Current

I love that LDShadowLady is good at Minecraft but at the same time so bad at it. She built an empire on the ocean but she uses stone tools because she doesn't want to go mining for resources. She has a diamond mending pickaxe but she can't mend it because she has no XP. She wins a battle to collect the most mob heads but when she sees people attacking her base she stops running away to say 'hi guys' and gets slaughtered. She's a professional scam artist but the things she scams people with turn out to be really useful to them so it's not actually a scam. She does a trade with a god's champion for an incredibly important artifact and then eats it on the spot. She got 4 lives on Last Life, bumped it up to 6 and died before her husband who had about 1 for like the entire series. She produces an entire musical. She has a 3/4 death chance on Minecraft Storymode. I love her.

the aquamarine au

Info about au below (or at least what i have so far)

-based on the 2006 move Aquamarine, a teen romcom about two teenage girls meeting a mermaid and helping her find love to achieve their wish of one of them not moving away (its my childhood). this au takes basic plot ideas from the movie but with major changes

Jimmy and Joel are both 17. Jimmy's family owns a small, local beach resort where he also lives. Joel lives next door and they're basically attached at the hip and spend all their time at the resort. It's tense between them because Joel is moving far away by the end of the summer.

Scar is 19. He's been working at the beach as a lifeguard since he was in high school. Local sweetheart, everybody loves him. Seems like he sucks at his job, but nothing wrong ever really happens on his shift. Known flrt.

Grian is an unknown age but closer to Scar than Jimmy and Joel. I'm still working out his part. He's a mermaid who ran away from home. The Watchers are a group who protect mermaid pods but have very strict rules and archaic views; such as there is no such thing as love and have arranged a marriage for Grian he doesn't want (The Watchers in this au are less Mega Evil and more Parents Who Don't Understand and Kind Of Suck). He runs away to prove love exists. In doing so, getting into a major fight with his sister.

Grian gets caught in a storm and washes up into the pool of the beach resort, where Jimmy and Joel find him. They are SUPER cautious at first, but immediately offer to help him find true love when Grian tells them that helping a mermaid grants them a wish. They're hoping to use the wish to make it so Joel's family doesn't move away.

Grian is a bit oblivious to the human world, but even more so to the concept of love, because it is not common in the mer world. This leads Grian to believe anyone can love you with a bat of an eyelash, which leads him to try to woo the first interesting person who catches his eyes; aka Scar. When it doesn't immediately work, he's actually quite pissed off and thinks its Scar's fault for not falling in love with him. Jimmy and Joel proceed to make a plan to match the two together because Scar is so nice and probably the only person willing to give this weird and off putting mermaid a chance.

Unlike the movie, which takes place over a couple days, this au takes place over the course of a month or two, so there is even more chemistry between the cast. Hijinks and cringey romcom shenanigans ensue.

The ending is very different from the movie (im still thinking about it i dont have a lot for this au please go watch Aquamarine tho its my childhood and i love it)

uhhhhh IDK WHO IS GOOD FOR A CECILLIA CHARACTER. ok in the movie theres a character named cecillia shes the typical mean girl trying to stop the main characters from getting together. i wanna put someone in this role bc shes iconic and has funny moments im inspired by but im having a hard time thinking of someone who fits the role. any ideas for this or any thoughts at all are welcome, this au is for fun!!!

Grian - He’s avian/watcher, looks mostly the same.

Scar - Part Iron Golem for his strength! The veins in his arms are silver and are very visible. He walks using a cane :D

Joel - Raccoon

Lizzie - Looks mostly normal, but she doesn’t have any pupils or iris’

Ren - If he transforms to long, attributes of the person he transforms into burns into his skin, so he has attributes of some of his friends!

Martyn - Looks mostly the same, but the tips of his ears are red and his hairs pretty messy

Scott - Little chicken wings sprouting from his back, ankles or head :D

Impulse - His veins glow purple from teleporting to much, as well as his scalera (white part of the eyes) turned black.

Cleo - She looks pretty normal for a zombie, js always stressed.

Jimmy - He forgets how to reappear sometimes, and sometimes different parts of him don’t fully go to full transparency

Tango - Blaze rods are extinguished due to the frost walker, and his hands and feet are covered in blue shards of ice.

Bdubs - Mostly the same, has a comfort blanket djakdhajjsjs, eyebags from nightmares (MY POOR BABY)

Big B - eyes on his arms, cheeks, forehead, back, legs etc. All glow yellow.

Due to Scar getting iron pumped into his arms, and not his legs his legs forget how to work due to his brain having to concentrate on his arms so much, so the lab gave him a cane to walk, and set up a command to make him lighter and easier to carry (his friends can carry him around too!)

The other seasons are all just silly bedtime stories Mumbo wrote before he died :( Every time a younger member gets sad, they read one! (Imagine there’s way less angst and it’s just sillies instead)

Scar never joked around after the mumbo incident, but when Bdubs started calling Etho and Cleo his parents, Scar pretended they were his parents to, to cheer up Bdubs. That’s how the family started!

Tango and Jimmy have little teenage crushes on each other, Grian and Scar say they’re soulmates and Joel promised to marry Lizzie once they escaped!

When Cleo tries to get Mumbo and Skizz to act normal again, she gets Mumbo to write and Skizz to play with Bdubs (It was caused a few accidents, and Cleo always fixes it, hence why Bdubs views Cleo as his Mum/Mom!)

Ren gives Martyn tips on how to block out background sound, due to being part dog, he always had that struggle when he was younger.

Pearl likes Gem a lot because she can tell Pearl about the sky while astral projecting!

Imagine Martyn curled up in the corner of his cell, covering his ears bc he doesn't know how to block things out and everything is so loud.

Imagine Scott transforming from an aquatic creature back to his regular form, but he still has gills, and he panics when he can't breathe.

Imagine Jimmy turning in invisible for the first time and not knowing how to turn back, and he thinks he's stuck that way forever.

Imagine Ren transforming the first few times, but there's always something off about him. He looks eerie, like something from uncanny valley.

Imagine Scar not knowing his own strength and jokingly punching Mumbo, only to send him flying into the wall and causing his death.

Imagine Cleo trying so hard to get Mumbo and Skizz to act the way that they used to when she summons them, but it's never truly them. Something is always wrong.

Imagine BigB being terrified when he summons the creaking for the first time, not realizing they're on his side and thinking they'll attack him.

Imagine Gem astral projecting as an escapism, talking to Mumbo and Skizz and "leaving" the facility, but she can't truly leave.

Imagine Impulse and Tango nearly getting to escape with their powers, their friends cheering them on from inside their cells, and just when they're in the clear, Impulse gets tranquilized and falls unconscious. Tango can't bare to leave his buddy behind. They both get collars that block their abilities and heavy monitoring after that stunt.

Lizzie feels bad about her power. She's tried to escape as well, but when she realized the blindness affected her friends, it freaked her out so much that security was able to catch up to her and take her back to her cell.

Imagine Bdubs sleeping diligently through every night and dealing with nightmares of the hell they've all been put through so his friends don't.

Imagine Pearl wishing she could fly out in the open air, desperate for that kind of freedom that she knows she will never have.

Imagine Etho trying to bring down his mace to pretend to hit Bdubs, and when he move to the side to dodge, it actually puts him in the way of Etho's strike. The absolute terror that fills Etho is so bad that he never jokes like that again, even if it barely hurt him.

Imagine Joel looking around and analyzing the rooms, thinking of how he could scale the walls with his ability to escape through an air vent, but he can never bring himself to do it because he refuses to leave Lizzie.

Imagine Grian being physically and emotionally strained trying to learn everyone's powers and how to properly use them, wishing he just had one of his own instead.

Imagine Skizz and Mumbo both dying (Skizz due to the intense tests and Mumbo due to the effects the testing had on Scar) before they had a chance to gain powers of their own. Don't imagine those powers being just what the group needs to escape.
