It’s so important that tsp is a game that knows it’s a game and it asks you to keep playing it and it tells you that to keep playing it is to torment these two characters but it asks you to do it anyway.
I watched The Morality of The Shadow of the Colossus and it said “you’re involved in it but you’re not Complicit. These things would happen anyway. You’re just re-enacting it” and I feel like the Parable is SOME of that. It wants you to feel complicit but it never really blames you for what happens, except maybe in the potency of the Skip Button. And by that point you have next to no choice.
TSP asks you to play it, knowing the consequences, and says “you can save these two, but you won’t, but that’s okay, nobody blames you. This is how they’re designed. This is how we need them to be, for the game to work. Please, keep playing. Keep making them butt heads. We made them for you.
We made them for you.”
one of the hardest parts about being a demigod that isn't talked about enough is learning how to blend in with mortals. yeah, you look the part. but can you act the part? case in point in cotg when percy reveals he has to consciously swim slower when around mortals. but what about annabeth who has to physically retrain herself from engaging in a fist fight bc she knows she can clock them easily and can't afford to get expelled again. or grover who carries iron pills because he can't just chomp on a soda can during gym class. the implications of demigods actively downplaying their god given abilities so they can remain hidden is a concept worth exploring.
I didn't see these doodle pages posted on Tumblr as their own post, but thanks to @kogglyuffs, I could track them down! Enjoy, y'all-- for all the non-twitter users wondering what the buzz is about (I don't use Twitter but I did have to do some searching). Art drawn by one of the lovely creators of Dead Plate herself, @racheldrawsthis!
percy, on the phone: hi, it’s percy
sally: what did he do this time?
percy: no, mom, it’s me percy
sally: oh… what did you do this time?
We are quickly approaching a dangerous amount of silly
Is Rody more likely to forget his birthday or Valentine's Day on the 14th?
Rody definitely forgets that it's his birthday and would only focus on Valentine's, he probably wouldn't feel it's worth celebrating over as something as important as the day of love anyway even if he did somehow get reminded of it, and it appears everyone else in the world thinks so too to him
oh.... you are so old....
also, extras !! (as an apology for being gone for a month)

“No, look, I’ve looked through this entire meager excuse for a story script, and it offers no explanation as to why we need to kill the princess other than this nonsense about ‘the end of the world’. Oh, I don’t know, this isn’t my area of expertise. I’m more of a—well, I prefer much cleaner stories about mind control and office buildings. None of this murder business. Well. Let’s just see what happens, I suppose. I’m not particularly picky one way or another with how this story goes. You decide, and I’ll do my best to narrate, yes? Alright. Let’s take it from the top.”
