Around the Sims | Advent calendar 2019

If you chatted with me not so long ago, I had probably told that I wouldn’t do an Advent calendar this year. Too much stress in RL, not enough time, too much work, not enough support, too much this, not enough that… So, instead, it was supposed to be a “12 days before Christmas”. But then, I thought to people who might expect that advent calendar, who might come to my site the 1st of December, hoping finding something and who would be disappointed… It broke my heart! So, I changed my mind, and you’ll get a complete Advent calendar, just as usual, even if it means I won’t sleep before a while!  :D The “idea” of the year was to re-do what I had done for my very first Advent calendar, for Sims 2, about 10 years ago (yeah, I know, do you hear my bones cracking?), with “hidden” gifts: you see the gift wrapping and you have a hint about what’s inside, but you don’t see immediately what you download. But you still can get a preview if you like better knowing! Anyway, you download the gift wrapping and the mystery gift. :)

You’ll find tiny gifts or much bigger ones, depending if they were planned or not (or if I slept or not! ;))

Hey, let me start saying I love your builds, can’t wait till u upload more 🤗 I am currently setting up a grocery store using your build and just wanted to know where did you store your fruits and vegetables, herbs for sims to buy?? Thank u in advance for your help 

Hi, thanks for the love! There are actually a couple ways I choose to do the above based on who it is that owns the supermarket.

1. If one of my homeworld sims is the farmer and also owns the supermarket, then I usually have a fresh produce section, meaning I just place the stuff they harvest directly unto the savvier seller shelf from their inventory. I usually prefer to use the shelves that came with the indulgence bakery set but use the transmogrifier mod to change the script into savvier seller shelves. Since the farmer own the supermarket, all profits from sales would go to their household funds.

2. If my farmer does not own the supermarket I usually have him consign the produce. In this case, I place one consignment register and one savvier seller register in my supermarket, that way other sims can buy the fresh produce from the consignment register. And therefore profits would go directly to their household fund. Another option is to place the humble harvest stand outside your supermarket and consign produce there, so sims can buy fresh produce from the stand. However, the supermarket owner would not make any profits from the produce only the farmer. 

3. You can also have the farmer “sell” the goods to the supermarket owner. This means adding up the value of the produce being placed on the shelves, subtracting from the supermarket owner’s household funds and adding to the farmer’s household funds. I’m however too lazy to go this route 😜

4. If there is no main farmer but I still want fresh produce being sold in the supermarket, then I have the supermarket owner purchase from the rabbithole supermarket and place on the savvier seller shelf in the fresh produce isle and then sell at a markup to earn some profits.

5. Another option is to place the produce in a treasure chest on the lot such as this vegetable stand by Sandy and have sims purchase using Ani’s Shop from Inventory mod. In this case, one of the supermarket registers will have to be a WA register that will have the new shop from inventory interaction on it. In this instance, whoever owns the LOT will receive the profits from the sale. Why I stress the LOT is that the LOT owner does not have to be the same person as the savvier seller register supermarket shop owner, and therefore they may not receive profits from the sale. But if they are one and the same then no issues.

Maybe more info than you were asking for, but there are so many ways to make it work so you can do whatever is best for your gameplay situation. Let me know if you have any further questions!

I’m very excited I have the time and energy to do this, this year. Christmas is my favorite time of the year and I feel like it’s a nice way to give back to all of you for all the love and support throughout the years. I hope you’re as excited as I am!

how it works;

Basically, I will be releasing new content every single day for 12 days during the holidays. Starting December 25th, 2019 to January 5th, 2020.

I love my independent teens. They always want to get a job and pay for things themselves but I hate the thought of them struggling to catch up with their homework late at night.

So I did something about it. I created 12 Saturday Jobs for your teenage sims! These do not override any teen careers. There is also a bonus Community Service ‘job’ for your juvenile delinquents.

For these jobs to show up in game, you will need the Nraas Careers Mod.

These jobs were made with Patch 1.69 and are all in English and support translations in German and Russian.

If you’re interested in translating this career, there are instructions at the bottom of the page.

Most of the jobs are base game compatible, however a few do rely on expansions. I give details on each career below.

There are uniforms for each of the jobs. You can edit career outfits with Patch 1.31 and above, so I highly suggest using this feature to give your Sims a uniform of your own choosing.

There are no opportunities. These are considered Part-Time jobs and cannot have opportunities.

Sims 3 Tutorial: How to share sims with their CC PROPERLY

(aka, NOT sending a .package)!!

The issue with sending a .package is:

1) You do not know what CC is attached, it may be CC that you are not allowed to share!

2) The person may already have that CC so you are giving them unnecessary extra CC, slowing down their game

3) It includes the sliders, which causes that weird chin or eyelid glitch in game as the sliders clash

4) It can cause issues with exporting sims, leading to it failing to export

Really advise not to do this but to use the method in this video instead!! It is quick and easy :)

Entertainment Spotlight: Jesse Lee Soffer, Chicago PD

Jesse Lee Soffer stars as Jay Halstead, a brash young detective in the NBC drama Chicago PD. Soffer’s acting career began at age 6 when he landed a Kix cereal commercial. At age 8, Soffer made his feature-film debut opposite John Goodman and Cathy Moriarty in Matinee. He also starred in the family drama Safe Passage, and as Bobby in both The Brady Bunch Movie and A Very Brady Sequel. On the television front, he was on the Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen ABC sitcom Two of a Kind, the CBS serial Guiding Light, and the daytime drama As the World Turns, a role that earned him three consecutive Daytime Emmy nominations for Outstanding Younger Actor in a Drama Series, as well as a Soap Opera Digest Award nomination for Outstanding Younger Lead Actor. Soffer also appeared in the film In Time, as well as in guest roles in CSI: Miami,The Mentalist and Rizzoli & Isles. We got the chance to ask him some questions about his life and career. Did you do any research or shadowing to prepare for your roles on Chicago PD?

Yes, definitely. But mostly is was spending time with Brian Luce our technical advisor when we started the show and him sending us on a couple ride alongs. He’s still with us day in and day out and he’s essentially the heartbeat of the show. You can feel him everywhere from the cops that are on set to even specific character choices that we make every day.

If you could have a conversation with any character that you’ve played in the past, who would you talk to and what would you talk about?

I’d talk to Jay and tell him to stop being an idiot and getting his boundaries mixed up and start listening to Voight more.

Do you have a favorite character arc from this season of Chicago PD?

I have been enjoying seeing Voight and Jay trust each other a little more. I know that there’s riffs sometimes and they butt heads but the two respect each other and they’re definitely growing and have a mutual respect more and more because of it and that’s been a fun storyline to see play out.

What’s the funniest photo that you have on your phone (either share or describe it)?

Probably Season 1, I still have all the photos and video of accidentally kicking Patty in the nuts. He was suppose to be wearing a cup, it malfunctioned, we were gonna do it as a joke, and it went horribly awry.

Do you have any fun facts about the filming of Chicago PD that fans would be surprised to know?

Anytime we’re on set on location and it’s winter, everybody piles into Halstead’s truck to stay warm in between setups and usually hilarity ensues.

What’s the first thing that you remember being a fan of?

I remember watching the Terminator movies way too young as a kid and I’m sure that played a part in me liking the action genre.

If you could take a masterclass on any subject, what would you learn and who would you want to teach you (e.g. a cooking class with Gordon Ramsay)?

I’d love to take a political science class from Susan Rice, or someone like that.

Can you take us through a typical day on set?

Coffee. Block scenes. Eat snacks. More coffee. Shoot scenes. Putt. Shoot scenes. Putt. Shoot scenes. Get hangry. Shoot scenes. Eat lunch. Shoot more scenes. Putt. Shoot more scenes. I have a putting matt in the bullpen to work on my short game.
