“Surrounded,” by Don Troiani. The 9th Virginia Regiment makes a desperate last stand in the previously overrun British camp at Germantown, Oct. 4, 1777. The 9th had previously broken the 4th Regiment of Foot but outran their supports and in the fog became surrounded by the counterattacking British. In the background can be seen the attacking light infantry of the 42nd Highlanders, the Black Watch.

Saint Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle. Be our protection against the wickedness and snares of the devil. May God rebuke him, we humbly pray; and do Thou, O Prince of the Heavenly Host -by the Divine Power of God -cast into hell, satan and all the evil spirits, who roam throughout the world seeking the ruin of souls. Amen. St Michael protect all our Troops, Protect and guide our Law Enforcement 🙏
