Breathing Underwater

You had arrived at the research facility on the remote island earlier in the morning, greeted by Dr. Jinbe, a tall, heavier-set man with a rather hefty underbite. He was covered in tribal tattoos, as he was a native of the archipelago now being studied for conservation purposes. There were many natural reefs and numerous fish and animals that migrated to and from, almost listing the area as a natural wonder.

Dr. Jinbe gave you a tour, it was a pretty standard basic layout. The lodgings were more traditional huts, as were the docks, but the labs were retrofit storage containers recycled and made into buildings. The mess hall was a strange mix between the modern storage containers and the traditional buildings of the area, and Jinbe slapped you on the shoulder as he laughed.

“This is where everyone comes to unwind.” He motioned around the space, “There are only about fifteen researchers at the moment, but this is the only place big enough for meetings and announcements. Breakfast starts at 0530 and is served until 0900, lunch 1130 to 1320, and the dinner bell is at 1800 until nothing’s left. But my nephew keeps everyone pretty well-fed,” the jovial man looks across the room to a tall, blond man who looks like he was taking something out of an oven in the open kitchen, placing it on a cooling rack on the counter, “Ah, just in time. Fresh muffins.”

Leading you over to the serving bar that separated the kitchen space from the rest of the mess hall, the strong smell of baked bananas with spices filled your senses. Dr. Jinbe leaned across the counter to grab a muffin directly out of the tin, tossing it back and forth between his hands and making noises as he mumbled, “Hot! Hot! Hot!”

The blond man behind the counter in the kitchen turned to glare at him slightly, cocking a strangely curled eyebrow, “How many times do I have to tell you to wait, Uncle Ji?”

“What’s the point in that, little bubble?” Jinbe laughed richly, finally putting the muffin on the counter while blowing on his hands, now a slight red color, “Wanted to get mine now before they were all gone.” He was met with an eye roll from the cook.

You giggled at their exchange, bringing the cook’s attention right to you. He blushed deeply and smiled brightly, ready to introduce himself as you repeated, “Little bubble.”

The blond man looked crushed, as if his body turned to stone and began to crack. Dr. Jinbe laughed loudly, moving to the other side into the kitchen to pat the man rather harshly on the back, “Come on now, bubble. Chin up. This is our newest member for the time, Dr. Y/N,” he motioned to you and then looked to you with his big, toothy grin, “Y/N, this is my nephew, Sanji. Our previous cook retired, and he stepped in to take care of us, but it took a lot for my brother-in-law to give him up from that fancy little hotel he worked at.”

“Not a hotel,” Sanji’s body lurched forward, being slapped on the back so harshly, “It’s the Foxtail Inn. Besides, my old man roped Thatch in. He’s not that put out.”

It was already hard to not smile in the presence of your fellow doctor, but something about the two of them together caused you to grin ear to ear. You caught Sanji watching you, smirking with a shade of pink to his cheeks as you waved slightly to him, “It’s nice to meet you, Sanji. I look forward to your meals.”

Sanji moved around the counter to stand before you, taking your hand in his, “The pleasure is all mine, ma dulcinée. Would you care for a muffin?” He offered you the muffin Dr. Jinbe had already taken from the pan, no longer too hot to handle, causing the man to scoff loudly about how that was his muffin, put it back.

The rest of the research team was just as welcoming and friendly, making the work and schedule much easier to work with. You specialized in sharks, but with all the biodiversity and activity in the reefs, you felt like every day was a new discovery. It was great to work with others who were happy and excited about their research, a huge change from the location you used to work at. There were a few rules to always follow: No solo dives, always keep a radio on you at all times, and specimen names come from the name jar. Yes, there were far more complicated rules than that, but those were the ones everyone followed and stressed. The last was not your favorite, as when you tagged thrasher shark 312, you had to name it Herman.

Day in and day out, the general routines were mundane, but the comradery of those around you and the enthusiasm for the work made it worth it. All of the good food was a bonus. For a semi-remote research facility on the fringe of civilization, Sanji managed to keep a well stocked kitchen and made use of any and all supplies he got. Nothing went to waste on his watch and it kept all the meals interesting, and bellies full. You constantly joked with the cook that you may have actually been gaining weight on the job for once, which he replied with how you still looked prettier than the sunset anyway.

Sanji always had a way with words when it came to the female researchers. There weren’t many of you, and while the others always rolled their eyes at him, he made you laugh. You found him charming in his own way, but you had learned a long time ago to not mix business with pleasure when working out so remotely. Things never really worked out that well, as you had experienced firsthand yourself, but were also aware of how quickly STDs could travel around the facility if you weren’t careful.

Still, Sanji’s flirting was usually just sugarcoated words, flowery descriptions of your face in comparison to beautiful objects, and words that you were pretty sure were French. He would often hold your hand while saying these things, or give you and the other female researchers a larger portion of dessert than he would the men. Sometimes it would spark arguments, but when the cook would threaten to take away their ability to get seconds, that would usually shut down any griping. It was harmless in the end, and it mostly just left the men laughing with Sanji later about what a hound dog he was during smoke breaks.

It still did not stop you from looking at him as well. You often found yourself sitting in the kitchen with him early in the mornings as you tried to wake up, watching him cook breakfast for everyone alone. He hummed as he cooked, enjoying his work just as much as you enjoyed yours. Sanji was a delight to be around, though some of that was your kindling crush you poorly attempted to keep at bay, but his passion for food and creation also kept your attention. The two of you became closer over time, talking with him about your work as he discussed new recipes and ideas with you.

Some months into your stay, you and a few of the other researchers had gone out to track the migration patterns of different fish to compare to last years’ data to now. However, when you resurfaced, you found the boat gone, your radio not connecting, and your tank low on oxygen. The swim was far, but you were an experienced swimmer and diver. You could totally make it.

Until you couldn’t.

As if things couldn’t have been worse, the tropical storm the facility had been tracking to not make landfall until tomorrow moved faster, and you were struggling against the swell of waves that it was bringing in with it. You tried your best to keep your head above the water, feeling as though you were swimming in place. No matter how hard you swam, the land seemed further and further away.

Your arms ached, your legs screamed. Every muscle and joint in your body burned. Panic set in, breathing in seawater with nearly every breath, spending just as much energy coughing it out as you were trying to stay afloat.

This couldn’t be the end.

This can’t be the end.

As your body gave out and you began sink further down, you could see the flashes of lightning above the surface of the water. The churning and crashing waves made the lights dance as the last of the air from your lungs left your mouth, vision fading as you watched them float to the surface.

You barely made out the hand reaching for you when you closed your eyes, feeling nothing as it wrapped around your wrist.

Breathing Underwater

When you woke to the warmth on of the sun on your face, you could barely remember what had happened. The feeling slowly came back to the surface of your skin over your body as you heard a man humming next to you. His voice was far too familiar for you to not recognize Sanji, feel his arms wrapped around you. Everything felt wet, yet his embrace was warm, petting your hair as his voice shook. He sounded worried, scared even. You opened your mouth to speak, only to breathe out what felt like half of the ocean.

Sanji sat up, holding your face in his hands, “Y/N!? Oh thank god!” and hugged you again, and you coughed and sputtered more. He pulled away, giving you some space to breathe, “Are you hurt? Do you feel any pain?”

As you tried to gain the air back in your lungs, you nodded. Your nerves began to all light up at once, signaling to your brain just how tired and worn out your whole body was from your near-death experience. The sun was far too bright, making it hard for your eyes to focus. Looking to Sanji, you attempted to focus in on his face, unable to move much else with how horribly your body was treating you.

“Ev-everything… hurts…” you panted, keeping one eye closed just to try and look at him. The full feeling of your arms came back first, able to slightly move one just enough to block the sun with your hand, “H… how… long was I out?”

Sanji touched your face, his becoming more detailed in your vision. His blond hair was wet and dripping, sticking to his forehead, parting just at one of his curly eyebrows. There were light blue scales that shimmered through the sand stuck to his face, and his ears looked like fins. You could feel your face contorting in confusion as you looked into his usually bright blue eyes that were now larger, and black around the irises.

“Not even an hour,” as he spoke, you could see the sharpness of his teeth, like that of a shark’s—you should know, you studied them enough— “The storm moved in alarmingly fast, but as soon as we came to shore, it dissipated. No idea why, but I’m sure we can find out once we get back.” He must not have noticed you staring, fixated on his face as he brushed your hair out of yours, “What were you doing out there like that, Y/N? You know better than to go out alone.”

“I… I was left. When I surfaced, the boat was gone.” Your breathing had finally started to level out, though still ragged, “But, um… Sanji?”

“Yeah?”

Lifting your head a bit, you looked at him closer, then moved your eyes down the rest of his body, looking him overly slowly as you took in his bare chest with a smattering of the same blue scales around his face, down to the long fish tail where his legs should have been.

“You’re a fish.”

“That’s racist.”

“You have a fin. Multiple fins. Fins.”

“How else could I get to you so quickly?” he looked to his lower half, wiggling it about before looking back to you quickly, “You’ve seen it before.”

Your eyes went wide, slowly attempting to sit up, “I am pretty sure I would remember you being a Mermaid. I died in that storm, didn’t I? Like… this has to be a dream of some sort.”

“MerMAN,” he glared, then suddenly Sanji looked at you confused, “Uh… wait. So we didn’t go on that walk last week?”

“What walk, Sanji?” weakly, you threw your arms up in response, “What day last week?”

His face dropped, and so did the fins, “Last Tuesday! We walked on the beach. You told me you liked me. I told you my secret. We made out…” his eyes averted from yours, a pink hue across his face that really made his scales stand out more. Rubbing the back of his neck, he turned his head away, coughing a little himself in his embarrassment, “Did you hit your head on something in the storm? How could you not remember?”

Last Tuesday evening you were with one of the night teams with the ship and submersible studying the night states of some of the coral. Sanji packed the team a dinner on the ship and most of you slept out there in shifts. You did not return until morning. Who the heck did Sanji talk to?

“Sanji,” you placed a firm hand on his shoulder—or at least as firm as you could in your current condition, “I wasn’t even here at the base last Tuesday. And if I had told you I liked you and kissed you, don’t you think I would have done more to show you that since then?”

He grit his teeth a bit, fiddling with his hands as he looked down, then up to you sheepishly, “I… know how you feel about relationships on the job. I just figured you didn’t want anyone else to know?” Sanji sounded less sure of himself, his last statement more of a question.

“Wow…” you sighed, falling back on sand, “I knew you were a simp, but this is nearly painful.”

“Hey, come on now.” The blond cook laughed awkwardly, “This isn’t funny, you know.”

“I mean it,” you looked to him again, not getting up from the sand, “While I do like you, Sanji, I would not lie to you when alone about not kissing you. Something isn’t right, and this is making me worried…”

His already large eyes got wider, a soft grin spreading across his face, “Really?”

“Yes, Sanji, why would I lie about that if it happened? Someone is impersonating me and toying with you! This could be a problem—”

“No,” the Merman leaned directly over you, “You said you liked me.”

Now that you could feel all of your body again, you felt a heat coursing through you. While you had said it, you also did not realize you had said it. Your heart raced in in your chest as Sanji put his face closer, realizing how much bigger he was in this Merman form of himself. He smelled of salt and sea, but not the unpleasant fish smell you may have been expecting, and you swore you still smelled his cologne he always wore.

“I guess I did,” you giggled, half of you screaming about not getting involved romantically with someone you worked closely with, the other half arguing that he wasn’t a part of the research teams, and it had been so long since you allowed yourself some romantic comforts. Plus, he was so cute and this whole Merman thing was fascinating.

Sanji gently pressed his lips against yours, and you did not resist him, pressing yours back against his. Slowly, his soft kisses began to ignite with heat, forgetting that his teeth were so sharp as you never felt them with your tongues pressing into each other’s mouths. You wrapped your arms around his shoulders, feeling his dorsal fin that started at his neck and ran down his spine, pressing flat under your your hand.

You broke the kiss, both of you smiling and giggling as you looked him over again, “Okay, so are we going to talk about the fact you’re a Merman?”

“Yes, and?”

Sitting up, you tried to get the sand off you where your scuba suit didn’t cover your skin, “You couldn’t like… get me up to a non sandy area? Just Little Mermaided me and left me on the beach, huh?”

Sanji pouted, “Hey, look, you try carrying another person up the beach when you don’t have legs. I can’t change back that easily…”

The two of you laughed together, finally able to stand much easier as you helped drag Sanji further up the beach where he could dry off in the sun better. You asked him many questions, almost at a spit fire pace, causing him to laugh. He answered as many as he could: Sanji couldn’t keep full control of his glamor in the ocean water, and thus if he got splashed with salt water, he would gain his tail, and walking would be out of the question, of course his uncle was also a Merman; he looked more like a whale shark, though, and no, neither of them were cold blooded.

Once his legs returned, he stood to his usual human height, about half the size of his mermaid self, and you just stared. He was stark naked, but in the moment you weren’t complaining. Sanji glanced down at himself, then covered himself with his hand, “Oop, yeah. I am naked. Forgot about that…”

You both snuck back to the facility together, Sanji knowing what to do as he did this often. While you wanted to demand of your coworkers why they left you in the middle of the ocean just before a huge storm, everyone kept asking you how you were feeling. A cold chill ran down your spine, the account they gave you was they all saw you get back on the boat, and told them you didn’t feel well. They all decided to bring you back before the storm got any closer, and you went straight to your quarters. Everyone was happy to see you up and about with color to your cheeks again. Excusing yourself to shower, you felt like you were going to throw up.

How were you in two places at once?

Breathing Underwater

“Wait, you have two of them?”

You sat on one of the docks, hanging your feet over the side and watching Sanji swim around. When he took his breaks, you two would go for walks and he allowed you to study him, to learn more of what you could about him and his kind. Who was he to deny you? You looked so cute when you were in science mode.

“I mean, I am a shark of my species, but a lot of Mermen tend to have two dicks.” He explained nonchalantly, “I thought you were a shark specialist.”

Giggling, you shook your head at him, “Yeah, non-Merman shark specialist. And forgive me for being distracted these days…”

Sanji and you had started a casual relationship over the last few weeks now that you two admitted your feelings to one another. He was more attentive to you, and didn’t even flirt with the other women anymore. Some had taken note, pouting that you were getting all of the special attention from the cook, so needless to say everyone figured it out rather quickly, though not too many of them really cared. Dr. Jinbe patted you on the back a lot with his laughter and would say “Welcome to the family”, causing Sanji to fall apart in a blushing mess.

On top of that, everyone had started to catch on to the fact you were in two places at once, the second form of you getting caught. It did not actually speak, only repeating things it had heard from you. You wondered how it was able to convey to the rest of the team you weren’t feeling well, but the man who heard it speak at the time admitted all it had said at the time was “sick”. As you went through everything in your mind, you had responded to a neat looking formation in the coral to another researcher on your coms as “sick”, because it did look really cool.

Then there was the situation with it speaking to Sanji on that Tuesday night walk, but you remember earlier in the day you had told one of your female researchers that you liked her (as a friend) with the exact words “Hey, I like you. You’re amazing!”. You were trying to reassure her that there was nothing wrong with her personality, and that her partner could take a hike. She had been trying to save a long distance relationship at the time, and her boyfriend was being an ass. Your Merman lover assured you later that those were the exact words the creature had used on him.

It was like something out of a horror movie, but everyone did their best to keep the creature with your face on lock down and study it. No official on-the-record report was filed, but countless detailed around-the-clock studies were done. Everyone was enamored with your Doppelganger, except Sanji. Dr. Jinbe was also wary, not allowing it to be near you until everyone knew more about the creature, which still seemed to be next to nothing. There were so many red flags going on, had none of them ever watched “The Thing”? How were you sure it wasn’t going to break out and slit all of your throats in your sleep? You had been reassured that all precautions were being taken in the studies, and they only called you in to speak words in an attempt to help it communicate better.

So for the time being, you distracted yourself from your discomfort with in-depth studies of Sanji’s true form. Most of the time, you both just made out rolling around in the sand, other times, like now, you actually studied him, watching him as he caught fish around the dock for dinner that night. He’d catch them and toss them up to you to put in a bucket of seawater you had next to you.

“Alright, alright,” he chuckled, “I’ll give you that. It has been weird, hasn’t it? I mean, it really does look and act like you. But there are differences, which I wish I had noticed the first time.”

“True, I still haven’t figured out if I forgive you or not.” You giggled as he instantly jumped up from the water, holding himself up on the dock with his arms, “You got any other clones of me out there I am unaware of?”

Sanji chuckled, nuzzling his forehead against yours, “Wish I could say so, but you’re my one and only, ma dulcinée.”

You hummed with contentment, rubbing your nose against his, “Your one and only,” you giggled, kissing his lips softly, “I like that.”

Kissing a few more times, Sanji asked you if you could take the fish back to the kitchen for him and run them under cold water in the sink. He would need to go dry off so he could get his legs back and start dinner. You nodded to him and gave him one more kiss, then got up to turn around to go back to base.

It was quiet.

Eerily quiet.

While most lights were not kept on during the day because of the bright sunlight through the windows, something was not right. It did not sit well with you, feeling that cold down your spine any time you looked at the creature that had your face. You heard a groan from the mess hall, rushing in there to find Dr. Jinbe on the ground, and a few other researchers rushing around to stop their own bleeding. Something had cut them all, near fatally.

“Y/N!” Dr. Jinbe called to you, “Get away! It’s out! It got out!”

Your legs froze, knees shaking as they would not respond to your commands to run. There was a noise behind you, turning to find the Doppelganger there. It held a sharpened piece of coral in it’s hand, eyes crazed, face distorted with a mouth that could not even be called a smile.

“One… and… only…” it repeated the words you spoke to Sanji moments before, raising up the makeshift weapon in it’s hand to strike you down with, “ONE AND ONLY!”

Somehow, you managed to grapple it’s arm, wrestling with it. The creature was strong, making it harder and harder to keep it from striking your vital organs. Some of the other researchers tried to rush to you, hobbling from their own injuries. It had you on your back, rearing up its arm again to bring it down for a final blow to your skull.

CLANG

Sanji stood there, cigarette between his teeth as he had struck the creature harshly with a metal serving tray from the kitchen. The creature went down, and you scurried away from under it. Your heart was racing, stomach churning until you threw up in the middle of the floor.

Breathing Underwater

You sat in a wooden dinghy pulled up to the shore with your knees tucked under your chin, and you had finally stopped crying some time ago. After Sanji saved you, a few others made sure it was dead, and after that you weren’t sure. Seeing something that looked like a grotesque caricature of your face dead on the floor was horrific, causing you to run out of the mess hall until you reached the shore. Your lover had checked on you a few times, bringing you water and a blanket, but he gave you your space as everyone cleaned up and treated the injuries.

The hairs on the back of your neck rose up at the sound of approaching feet, but when you turned and saw Sanji, your body released some of it’s tension. He climbed into the small boat with you, putting an arm around your shoulders. He still had a cigarette in his mouth, the embers of the end of it barely lighting up his face in the dark of the night. The moon was full, giving plenty of light, but it was still night time.

Removing the cigarette from his mouth, he held it away as he blew the smoke out in a different direction, “Hey, how are you holding up?”

Shaking your head, you lay against his shoulder, “I don’t know. I just don’t know.”

Stamping out the cigarette in the sand—which you would usually berate him for but given your current shock, you had neither the energy or the mental capacity to do—he kissed the top of your head, wrapping both of his arms around you in the blanket as you wrapped yours around him. You buried your face against his chest, taking in his scent, comforted by just the presence of him.

“It’s okay if you need to cry, ma dulcinée,” he whispered to you, but you shook your head.

“I don’t think I could cry any more if I even wanted to.”

“Should I bring you more water?” Sanji asked, pulling back to lift your face to look at him.

You shook your head, pressing your face into his chest again, “Just don’t leave me alone. Please? I don’t want to be alone.”

He nodded, holding you closer as he readjusted you both in the dinghy so you were both laying back as best you could. Your head was against his chest, and you closed your eyes, listening to the rhythm of his heart as you started to doze off.

“Hey, Y/N,” you stirred as Sanji shook your shoulders, “Y/N, look.”

Opening your eyes, you didn’t realize that the tide had come in and taken the boat out a small distance from the shore. You started to panic, shifting to get up and use the oars to try and get back before you got too far out, but capsized the small boat in the process. Sanji was able to get the boat righted quickly, and you both back in, though obviously now in his true form, and barely able to fit in the boat.

“Um, sorry,” you shook your hair out, straddling Sanji as his tail hung off the back of the boat.

He chuckled, also sopping wet as he brushed some of his blond hair out of his face, “There are far worse things. I just wanted you to look.”

Sanji then pointed with his finger as you turned around to look behind you, seeing the waves bringing in masses of glowing blue. Even though you had seen it before, it still never ceased to take your breath away.

“Lingulodinium polyedra,” you sighed, smiling as the masses of bioluminescent plankton drifted along under the boat, bringing an ethereal light that now bathed you both, “They’re always so beautiful.”

Your lover watched you closely, smiling as you were lit by the faint blue light, “Not as beautiful as you.”

Looking back to him, you giggled, leaning down to lay against his chest, “You know, the pretty glowing plankton was why I wanted to become a marine biologist as a kid. Because of them, I was able to work my way here… then meet you.”

“Hm, I guess I should thank them then,” he chuckled, raising a hand to wave playfully over the side of the boat, even though his eyes never left yours, “Thank you, plankton. For my sexy girlfriend. Ma dulcinée.”

Sanji lifted your chin, the two of you sharing a tender kiss. Much like your first, it built up to something more heated, passionate, but now it was hungry. You both had sex before, when you could, but Sanji was wetter than you were becoming, and would not be able to change back anytime soon. When you broke the kiss to ask him about what to do, he merely pulled you back to him, wanting to taste you more.

“Y/N… can we…?” his large webbed hands ran down your body, gripping your butt in the tight spandex shorts you were wearing, “I don’t think I can wait to change back…”

Cupping his scaled face, you leaned in again, kissing a few pecks to his lips as you sat up and pulled your shirt over your head, “I thought you’d never ask. I’ve been wanting to since we started this,” The red color always blushed across his face, even with his scales, as soon as he would see any part of your body naked. He at least stopped getting nosebleeds, “After all, you did save my life again today.”

Sanji smiled, his sharp teeth glinting like pearls in the light, “I have saved your life twice now, haven’t I?” you did your best to wiggle out of the shorts, which was harder to do than you thought, so he lifted you up above him to help, “And I’d save you a thousand times over if I had to.”

Laughing, you managed to strip yourself naked, Sanji placing you back down just below his cloaca, “Let’s hope it doesn’t come to that.” Your eyes glanced down at his slit that you knew his cocks were hiding behind, biting your lip as you kept looking between his face and his slit, “So, um… how does this work?”

His large eyes were blown out in lust, reaching down with his hand to take your wrist, sliding it over his cloaca, “If you ask nicely, they’ll come say hi.”

Nodding, you kept running your fingers over his slit, then using both hands to add a little pressure, as if pushing on the sides would coax them out, “Oh, please, Sanji, my darling,” you batted your eyes at him, “I want both of your cocks so bad.”

Sanji rubbed his nose, face red under his blue scales, “Fuck, Y/N… you’re literally about to kill me…”

As if on queue, one of his members slipped out, instantly followed by the other, they were still about the size he was in his human form. Your eyes sparkled at the idea of both of them. Your mouth watered, but your cunt watered more. Taking one of his cocks into your hand, giving it a few strokes, you raised your hips just enough to finger yourself with the other. You both moaned, Sanji calling your name like a soft mantra that kept his soul grounded to his body.

When you were worked up enough, you shifted yourself with his help, taking the cock you were not giving attention to and lining it up with your entrance. Sanji cried out as you slipped down, always reveling in the expressions he made during sex. He was always so honest with his feelings, and his face was just as honest with his pleasure.

Riding him up and down slowly, you both panted as the boat rocked with your motions, not enough to capsize again, but enough that the sounds of the water was adding to the euphoria of the moment. Sanji’s webbed hands moved up to play with your breasts, pulling and tweaking your nipples exactly how he knew you liked. It caused your pussy to clench and shiver around him, adding to the pleasure.

You kept playing with his second cock, teasing it in the ways you had learned drove Sanji crazy. He gripped your hips, thrusting up into you in a frenzy, unable to control himself. Shifting your hips just enough, you angled just right to rub your clit against his second cock as you stroked him. Both of you threw your heads back, crying out in bliss as you felt him cum both in your pussy as your orgasm clenched and gushed around him, and his other cock came all over your hand and his chest.

It was hard to move at first, still feeling him twitching and convulsing as you looked down to him with a wicked grin, raising your hips to tease his second head at your entrance.

Sanji’s whole body shuddered, gripping your hips to hold you in place, “Y/N, hold on, I can’t—”

Biting your lip, you slid your hips just enough to take some of his extra sensitive head into your cunt with the other. However, the noise that escaped Sanji was akin to a cartoon character falling off a cliff, bucking his whole body in a way that caused the whole boat to capsize again.

Resurfacing, you spit seawater out as he surfaced and coughed, his hair now covered in the glowing plankton.

“I warned you.”

Marriage Of Inconvenience, Portgas D Ace

You couldn’t believe your eyes.

Commodore Y/N of the Marines and ‘Fire Fist’ Ace, Second Division Commander of the Whitebeard Pirates Spotted Together in Arctic Chapel! Unity between prominent figures in the Marine and Pirate worlds?

You crumpled the newspaper in your hands, tossing it into the trash can beside your desk. You pinched the bridge of your nose. A headache began to form due to the mess of the article and all you wanted was to forget about it.

A knock interrupted your thoughts and you let out an exasperated sigh. “Come in.”

“Good morning, Commodore Y/N,” an officer stepped into your office, back straight and hand in a salute.

On his free hand was a paper— the newspaper. Resting your head on your hand, you gestured towards the newspaper, the front page article practically taunting you. “What is it?”

“It’s just that… this article. Everyone saw it, and we were wondering…” The officer held the newspaper in both hands and you had the urge to gouge out your eyes seeing the article again. “Is this true?”

“As a Marine, do you really think it’s important to be wasting your time on an article clearly facetious?” He shook his head, though he was clearly nervous as you rested your hands on your desk and sat straight. “And more than that— why would I, a Commodore of the Marines, even be near a pirate such as ‘Fire Fist’ Ace, and especially in a well known wedding chapel?” Without even realizing, you were standing, your hands slamming your desk and shaking the papers on it.

The officer was practically shaking now. He bowed as low as possible before speaking, “With all due respect! I, and the rest of the ship, were just concerned as we were recently on Monkey Island…where Arctic Chapel is…and ‘Fire Fist’ Ace was spotted there…” His voice trailed out when he saw how your anger seemed to grow.

You placed your hands on your temples, closing your eyes. “Whatever. The article is a lie, now get out.”

He was surprised with your sudden change of tone, “Commodore, I—”

“Get out! And close the door.”

Without another word, the officer followed your orders. Even though the day just started, you wanted to be alone for the rest of it.

Of course your wishes would not be granted as your Transponder Snail began to ring.

And the next three hours were spent clarifying to everybody you knew—coworkers and friends and family and even higher-ups—that no, you were not married to ‘Fire Fist’ Ace and you were definitely not changing your name to Portgas Y/N.

The calls eventually died down, and you were able to rest. Though it was only for a few minutes as your Snail began to ring once again. You rolled your eyes, but picked it up nonetheless.

“For the last time, I am not married to ‘Fire Fist’ Ace!”

“Is that what you’ve been telling everyone? I thought you’d be more proud of being married to me.” You glared at your snail as it let out an obnoxious laugh.

“‘Fire Fist’ Ace. What is with that fabricated article?!”

“C’mon, we’re married, drop the title and just call me ‘Ace.’ You don’t see me calling you ‘Commodore Y/N.’”

“Answer the question!”

“I’ve no idea either. I woke up and saw the article, same as you. Though…”

“Though what?!” You didn’t realize you were yelling until there was a knock at your door from an officer asking if you were okay. You dismissed the officer, telling him there was no issue.

“Don’t you remember, last week? I don’t blame you for forgetting a bit since we were both drunk, but we did get married.”

“We did not! I—” You stopped, suddenly remembering the events of last week.

Your ship docked on Monkey Island, and you could finally indulge yourself in a rare, well-needed break. With the sun setting and the officers you lead staying onboard the ship, you decided the first thing you’d do was head to a bar.

“One Negroni, please!” You smiled at the bartender, ready to drink to your heart’s content.

A man’s voice came behind you, “Make it two.” You heard the man move the stool beside you to take a seat. “Didn’t expect to see you here, Commodore Y/N.”

“It seems my reputation precedes me—” you turned to your side, shocked to see ‘Fire Fist’ Ace grinning in front of you. He was a well known pirate, though this wasn’t the first time you had the displeasure of seeing him. “What are you doing here, ‘Fire Fist?’”

His grin didn’t seem to falter when he saw you receive your drink and take a small sip from it. “You’re not gonna chase me around or even try to arrest me?”

“I’m off duty, I have no reason to do more than what is needed right now.”

“Really? Not even a sense of justice?”

“Not when I’m off the clock.”

“Fair enough,” Ace paused, taking a huge swig of his own drink. “Y’know, you’re always chasing me around, I see you more than some of my own crewmates. And yet, I barely know anything about you.” He raised his drink, waiting for you to do the same. “Tell me about yourself.”

As soon as you finished your drink, you were asking for another. “Even if I’m off the clock, I won’t fraternize with a pirate like you.”

You really need to control your drinking habits.

“You mean to tell me your grandfather is Garp the Fist, Hero of the Marines, yet you and your brothers dreamt of becoming pirates?” You hiccuped, downing another shot you couldn’t even be bothered to count anymore.

“What’s wrong with that? Being a pirate is way cooler than being a marine!”

“It’s ironic ‘s all—and being a marine is wayyy cooler!”

“Nuh uh.”

“Uh huh!”

“Nuh uh!”

“Uh huh!”

“Whatever.” Ace attempted to pour more into his cup, emptying the contents of the bottle. “Ah, Y/NNN, let’s go now. ‘M bored here.”

“Wait! One more!” You held your cup in the air. Ace mirrored your actions until your cups collided together. The both of you pulled your cups away and drank the last bits of alcohol.

You tossed a bit of berri onto the counter, waving the bartender goodbye as you pulled Ace out of the bar. The city was full of lights, enough to blind the both of you in your drunken stupor.

“Did I ever tell you,” Ace slurred. “How pretty you look whenever you chase me?”

“You tell me all the time. Did I ever tell youuu how you would totally be my type if you weren’t a pirate? I always thought you would look soo good in a marine uniform.” You giggled.

“I would never be anything but a pirate!”

Your eyes caught sight of a building whose lights seemed to shine brighter than any other place. You tugged Ace’s arm and pointed to it. “Let’s go there.”

He squinted his eyes, looking in the direction you were pointing at. “Arctic…Chapel…You wanna get married?”

You didn’t bother to understand his question as your face began to feel warm. “Ace you can’t ask me like that!” You pulled him towards the building’s direction, “Let’s goo!”

Ace didn’t protest, even more excited than you.

——

As you recalled the events, you groaned. “Oh my god. We were drunk and went into that stupid chapel. We walked into that stupid chapel and now everyone thinks we’re married!” You started laughing in a way that almost scared Ace.

“But…we did get married.”

“No we didn’t.”

“We did. Hang on a second.” There were sounds of shuffling from Ace’s line on the snail. You heard the sound of a Cameko snail clicking. “Do you have a Proko snail with you?”

“I do…”

“Great, turn it on.”

You did as he said and turned your Proko snail on. As soon as it was on, it projected a marriage certificate. A marriage certificate with both yours and Ace’s names on it. Your eyes widened at the sight. There were official documents of you and Ace being married.

“Let’s get divorced.”

“Wha– why? I don’t wanna get divorced!”

“We were drunk, and I can’t be married to a pirate! I could lose my job over this!” You were screaming into the snail at this point.

“You could be a pirate and join the Whitebeard crew!”

“No way! I like being a marine. Why don’t you join the marines and you could work under my command!”

“C’mon, bein’ a pirate is way better than bein’ a marine!”

You were growing annoyed with Ace. Just as you were about to respond back, a knock interrupted your conversation with Ace. “C-commodore Y/N?”

“What is it? I’m busy.”

“You see, uh—”

Suddenly the door slammed open. Once you saw who opened the door, you ended your conversation with Ace and stood straight into a salute. “Vice Admiral Garp, sir.”

“No need to be so formal with me. We’re family now, aren’t we?” Garp walked into your office, dismissing the officer who led him there. “So, what’s this about your union with my grandson?

Dangerously Stupid Part 2

Continuation of Part 1

Donatello felt he was in a daze. He had checked himself top to bottom and found no concussion (thankfully) and nothing more than a few scrapes and bruises. So that ruled out brain injury as the source for why he couldn’t focus on any of his work in the full day since. He kept getting distracted by…. You.

Donnie has a device that picks up the signal from any cell phone or smart device he comes within 30 feet of while out on patrol, and automatically registers the information of that device into his system. This comes in handy when the need arises to erase any photos or data that may come up on these phones involving him or his brothers, and to monitor the whereabouts of any thugs or civilians they may come in close contact with. Meaning, he had your phone number, right on his screen in front of him. He knew this may seem creepy but it was for security purposes, and Leo said he always needed to monitor any civilians that got close to them for safety. That was his job. And also his job to find your current location registered on your phone in your apartment. …..And your wifi network, and your laptop currently hooked up to said wifi network. It showed you were actively using it. He wrestled with himself for a moment about respecting your privacy, but curiosity got the better of him, and he quickly took a peek at what you were currently looking at on your screen. ……It was a google search on how to give yourself stitches from home. What??? Surely you weren’t- were you scrolling through poorly drawn reference pictures on a wiki-how page?!?! You then switched to another tab and googled ‘can I use a sewing needle and thread to give myself stitches’. Donnie paled. The next search: ‘how to disinfect thread’.

He put his face in his hands and groaned. Did you not go to the hospital last night?!?! What were you thinking? He looked back up and noticed the screen had been idle for a few minutes and he was getting really worried. He quickly hacked your laptop camera, privacy be damned- to take a look to see if you were okay. The image that was brought up was an empty chair, and in the background was a cozy warm looking apartment. But there was no movement. You hadn’t fainted out of your chair had you?! He was starting to panic when you suddenly came back into screen, moving slowly and almost falling back into your chair wearing the same pants you wore last night. You had on a small tank top with the strap down, and a bloodied white towel slung over your injured shoulder, carrying armfuls of supplies that you set down on your desk by your computer with shaking hands. You looked far more pale than you had last night.

“Alright let's see…. Next it says to soak the thread and needle in the disinfectant for about 10 minutes…. I hope the thread is long enough. Hmmm… I don’t have sterile gloves so hopefully washing my hands well is good enough…” You thought out loud to yourself. Donnie was about to smash his head on his desk from your careless words. He couldn’t take it anymore.

“What the SHELL do you think you’re DOING?!?!” After a few quickly typed commands he was patched into your laptop’s audio and yelling into his microphone, causing you to jump- startled from where you were about to reach into the bowl of disinfectant to grab the needle after only 5 minutes. You instinctually started to lower the volume on your laptop, cursing about ads on these websites always popping up and surprising you.

“No no no! I’m not an ad- wait a minute-” Donatello quickly typed in some more buttons and your screen froze to allow his webcam feed to pop up and take over your screen, making you gasp and almost fall out of your chair. “Stop that! You’re doing to hurt yourself- well, more than you already are. You’re going to give yourself an infection!! What were you thinking-”

“IT’S YOU!!!” You shouted in surprise, holding onto your desk so you didn’t fall. If not for the deep cut still oozing from your shoulder and the attempted robbery from last night rerunning on the 6 o’clock news, you would have assumed you had dreamed of your fated meeting with the large turtle men. After waking up in a cold sweat on your couch late that afternoon, you had instead decided to focus on giving yourself first aid. “How did you- what?” You babbled trying to figure out why the purple masked man’s face was currently lecturing you from your computer screen. A worrying wave of lightheadedness made you grip your desk tighter.

“I hacked your computer. Anyways, WHY AREN’T YOU AT THE HOSPITAL?!!!” Donnie shouted in exasperation. He barely registered the sound of his lab door opening as his shouting probably attracted the attention of one of his brothers.

You stared at him blankly for a moment, waiting for your brain to restart and register his questions after the shock of getting to see him again. “I… I don’t have health insurance.” You said a bit bluntly, settling back into your chair heavily, and bracing your good arm against your desk as a new wave of nausea overtook you from your racing heartbeat.

“....what was that?” Donnie quickly turned around to acknowledge Leo, who had entered the door and taken up a spot leaning against the back of Donnie’s chair watching the interaction play out. At least of all his family, his most level headed brother had come in.

You still heard the faint question and continued. “My new job… I just moved to New York two months ago for my new job. They promised me a good starting salary and a full time position, but after only 3 weeks they started cutting back on my hours. They don’t pay benefits to part timers, so I’ve already lost access to my health insurance. ….They really screwed me over, so I’m just working for them until I find a new job. I really, really, can’t afford a hospital visit after this expensive move, so….” You gently motioned to the white towel on your shoulder, a startling spot of red starting to seep through. Leo recognized the location of the wound from last night. The two brothers felt their gut clench remembering how you had gotten it. In defense of Donnie’s life.

You were starting to slouch more over your desk, your head spinning, and your laptop’s microphone now picking up your labored breathing. Leo could see the red flush drain from your face, and Donnie recognized the symptoms. Most likely, you were about to lose consciousness.

“Wait wait wait, hold on stay with me.” Donnie quickly ordered you through his mic, his tone becoming more serious. He quickly typed into his keyboard, now understanding the situation a bit more, and the gravity of your condition. “Do you have any roommates, anyone staying with you right now?” With a level tone he asked you some standard questions to keep you conscious as he robotically pulled up your current address. Leo had already left the room to rally their brothers and gather the first aid kit, clearly already on the same page.

“…. no. Just me.” You said quietly, now focusing entirely too much on staying upright. You really felt like you were going to throw up now. But you were too busy wracking your dizzy brain for what his name was…. D…. Donna… Donnie…. “Donatello?” You said out loud, trying to focus.

“Yes, (y/n?)” He quickly answered as he continued to quickly type something on his keyboard, he was glancing between you and another screen at his desk every other second. You smiled. He remembered your name. “We are coming to see you. If you can, try to leave your window unlocked, and go lie down on your couch or your bed. What is your apartment number?” He was quick and clear with his orders, speaking like a true doctor, you thought blearily. But you were too out of it to question how or why he was coming over.

“Mmm… Room 517, 6th floor.” Gosh why did you ever think you could do this on your own. You suddenly felt really stupid. You were trying to take care of yourself so you wouldn’t have to rely on your family for help with medical bills, but now you were just causing problems for the kind hero you met last night. “I’m sorry Donnie… I think I’m gonna pass out.” You said apologetically, head going to rest tiredly on your table next to your computer. You could distinctly hear the sound of the city filtering in through your cracked open window behind you in the living room. Your dizzy spell gripping you much stronger than it had earlier when you had first moved to stand after sleeping all night on the couch. The next thing you hear is the rattle of plastic wheels scooting as presumably Donatello was standing from his desk.

“Don’t be sorry. We’re coming to help you now, okay? Just try to stay awake.” There was a whoop and some excited chattering in the background now and some more keys being hit from his consol. “I’ll see you soon.” Came the quick but warm reply from the purple masked turtle as his webcam feed disappeared from your laptop.

A silence hung in the room. As if it had never happened. You shifted to look up at the screen detailing a poorly drawn cartoon image of a needle poking at the edge of a wound looking back at you, and groaned audibly. Burying your dizzy head back into your good arm for a moment, you tried to sit up to go move to the couch to wait, careful not to bump into the bowl of antiseptic holding your good sewing needle and black thread. Only moments earlier you were about to try and sew up your shoulder like you were hemming a new pair of pants, only to be caught by one of this city’s apparent mutant super heroes you had met only just last night. And now he was coming here. To help you.

Feeling another huge wash of dizziness pass over you, almost making your knees buckle as you stumbled over to the couch, you felt a larger twinge of pain in your shoulder again. Taking a seat on the cheap couch cushion, you reached up to move the towel you had soaked in the antiseptic aside to inspect the wound. You must’ve stretched the skin when you were startled earlier, because the wound was leaking deep red again as a small trail started to escape down your arm before you could stop it. Must’ve been deeper than you thought.

That was your last thought before you passed out, head lightly falling against the couch.

“Are we almost there yet?? Ow!” Mikey called out ahead to Donnie before getting the back of his head smacked by Raphael. They were racing across rooftops making a beeline for your apartment building. Donatello, who usually gave sassy directions from the rear, was silent and serious leading the charge with Leo close behind carrying their largest portable first aid kit.

Leo was keeping a close eye on his younger brother. When he walked by Don’s lab earlier, attracted by the shouting, he was startled to find his younger brother was talking to the person who had saved him the night before. Before he could question why, or get into his lecture about the dangers of contacting a human they only just met, he saw the look on his brother’s face. Donnie’s expression was beyond distressed. His usually level headed brother was shouting and worried because a civilian who was kind enough to step in and take a hit for him while he was down was- from what it looked like- still bleeding, almost 18 hours after the attack. And even worse from what he heard walking in, had no means of access to medical attention. He could understand Donnie’s frustration, but he was still surprised his brother had gotten this worked up.

“Hey…. Donnie,” Leo called out. “Everything alright…?” He said just low enough that it wouldn’t draw the attention of their brothers.

Donnie knew what he was getting at, so he cut right to the point. “I caught them before they could try and suture their own wound. With a sewing needle.” Donnie took a very very deep sigh. “By following a wiki-how tutorial.” Leo almost tripped off the building.

“….what?” He responded smartly.

There was a loud snort from behind them. “Sounds badass.” Raph deadpanned and Mikey wore an expression of surprise followed by a quietly muttered ‘dude…’

Donnie groaned audibly. Thankfully your apartment building was now in sight. “I need to make sure their wound is properly disinfected before stitching it up. It’s the least I can do…” He thought back to last night. The long stare you two shared, and the concern and lack of fear you held for him in your eyes. He longed to see those eyes again…

The building next to yours was at just the perfect height to leap across from the roof to your room’s fire escape. Leo was the first to land and give the all clear for his brothers to follow. Leo opened the window and stepped in just barely before Donnie practically toppled him over pushing past him to get inside. Snatching the first aid kit off Leo’s shoulder, Donnie quickly found your still form on the couch.

“Right… we’ll stand guard. You’ll let us know if you need any help, okay Don?” Leo offered. Mikey pushed in through the window and made a beeline for the fridge, and Raph took a seat on the windowsill peaking in curiously.

“Yeah, Leo.” Donnie knelt quietly next to your form on the couch. All his attention was already on you.

 Leo went to stand around the living room trying to find the walls interesting while occasionally glancing at Donnie’s work, trying to stay out of the way.

Don checked you over, breath taken seeing your face again up close in the warm light of your apartment. Your breathing was deep and steady. Good. A little sweat on your brow, he looked down to see angry inflamed red skin peaking over your bare shoulder. He carefully moved the towel, stained in dried blood, and winced as the fabric pulled unstuck from the sticky bloody wound.

You flinched, and Donnie felt his breath catch in his throat. But you did not awake, so he swallowed and signed, reaching down to open his medkit and take out a disinfecting wipe. The little damp pad unfolded and he carefully began to clean away the dried and sticky blood from around your cut so he could get a better look at the damage. There was definitely irritation but he hoped that no infection had taken hold yet. Next he disinfected his hands and pulled out his suture kit, and with practiced ease began to stitch up your shoulder.

About 15 minutes later, and about 10 stitches into fixing you up, your eyelids fluttered open. The poking and pulling around your painfully sensitive cut had finally woken you up. You still felt dizzy and light headed, so made no sudden movements. Glancing down you saw the light reflecting off of a large polished shell. That’s right, Donnie. You still had a hard time grasping your current situation. Maybe you were in a fever dream. But there was the strangely handsome face of a mutant turtle sewing up your shoulder with his tongue poking out of the corner of his mouth in focus. His large goggles down over his eyes and a portable lamp light over his shoulder illuminating his work.

You felt the poke of a new stitch and this time flinched with a little muttered “Ouch!” and suddenly you were blinded by the light hitting your face as Donnie startled and turned to face you.

“Oh! You’re awake! Um… Sorry I’m uh… not quite done yet. I hope this is okay-” He quickly mumbled. His free hand that braced your shoulder gave an encouraging squeeze.

You blinked a moment as your eyes adjusted to the light. He glanced back at his work and back to you and you nodded twice.

“I need you to hold still for just a few more minutes, I’m just about finished. Okay? It’s going to sting a little.”

“...yeah. Got it.” You nodded, feeling your head quickly clear up as you felt the pinch and sting of the needle again, bracing yourself to hold still while your brows tensed from the discomfort.

You looked around your room to distract yourself from the pain. Looking across your coffee table you saw one of the other turtle mutants, the one wearing the blue bandana and caught his eyes for a moment before he quickly averted them to pretend he wasn’t staring. But after a moment he looked back at you and offered a quick nod in greeting. You supposed he might be a little shy and was trying to hide it. By your window you also caught the large cracked shell of another one. He glanced over his shoulder and met your eyes, studying you for a moment as you also took in the scar on his lips and the toothpick, before he also nodded at you with a little ‘hey’ in greeting.

“Yo, is dudette awake? Morning sleeping beauty!” An energetic orange masked turtle man, holding a half full can of your soda, practically jumped into your line of sight, startling you a bit with a gasp. “You remember me? I’m Mik- Ouch! Leo!!” The blue masked turtle called Leo smacked him on the back of his head to quiet him with a shush.

“Mikey, I’m still working. Don’t freak them out.” Donnie quickly added, making sure you weren’t gonna move again before continuing.

“Yeah genius, your ugly mug almost made em’ pull a stitch. Save the dramatic introductions for later.” The red masked turtle sneered at Mikey. You vaguely recalled him being named ‘Raph’.

Leo, Raph, Mikey, and… “Donnie?”

You caught yourself saying out loud, making said turtle jump a little.

“Y-Yes, (y/n)?” He stuttered as he helped carefully pull you into a sitting position. The stitches were finished and it was time to wrap the wound. He reached into his bag and pulled out a package of fresh gauze.

You carefully watched him unwrap the gauze, his hands slightly shaking. “How do you know each other?” You asked him, meeting his eyes, then looking over to the others spread out in your living room.

“Brothers. We’re brothers.” Leo answered helpfully.

“Brothers… that makes sense…” You considered how they all acted around each other and smiled warmly, looking back to meet Donnie’s eyes.

He was lifting up his goggles back to the top of his head and his eyes widened at your expression. He turned away to put his tortoiseshell glasses back in place, clearing his throat.

“Yes, they’re… my brothers.” He tentatively smiled back at you, and began to wrap up your shoulder.

You watched him thoughtfully for a moment, and glanced over at his brothers now quietly arguing about something over by the window. Mikey quickly looked back over at you with a bright smile before turning back to the conversation animatedly and shushing his brothers a little, earning him a smack as Raph and Leo both also shared a look with you briefly. You raised a curious brow at the antics. They were like gossiping school kids… definitely brothers.

“Hey Donnie… Sorry for causing you all trouble like this. …I didn’t want to involve anyone and thought I could handle it myself.” You said looking down. “....Thank you for coming to my rescue.” You looked up to meet his gaze and smiled at him.

“No no, this is…. It’s the least I could do. After all, I should be the one thanking you. You got this injury from coming to my rescue, I…. Thank you.” His hands stilled a moment in the midst of his wrapping and gave you a shy smile. He looked kind.

Donnie finished the rest of the wrapping slowly, fastening the end in place carefully.

“Um… You should change the wrapping every other day. Call me if there’s any trouble, like puffy redness around the stitches or if it starts bleeding or starts to show signs of infection-”

“Hey-” Leo suddenly cuts Donnie off, making you both look over to him where he was emerging from the group huddle.

“How about, we come back- *ahem* Donnie, comes back again to check on you in a few days. Does… that sound good?” He asked carefully. Mikey jumping around excitedly in the background and getting a playful push from a grinning Raph. You turned with a raised eyebrow to Donatello. He was currently gawking at his older brother, glancing back between you and the blue leader. You couldn’t help but giggle a little at the antics.

“...Sure. I’d love that. If… you don’t mind, that is?” You asked the flustered purple masked mutant.

“I- I- Yes. Yes, of course. It would be my pleasure. Um. S- Next Saturday then? If you’re free?” He gathered himself and asked you kindly.

“That would be perfect.” You smiled widely, taking his hand in both of yours. “It would be nice to see you when neither of us are in danger for a change.”

Donnie’s eyes seemed to soften as he looked at you warmly. “I would like that. Very much.” He held your hands back softly as he rose from his seat beside you. His brothers were already starting to filter out through the window, except for Mikey who was hooting and hollering quietly before getting bodily pulled through the window by his two older brothers.

“So… next Saturday night? 9pm?”

“I’ll be here.” You responded, following him to the window. He carefully climbed out onto your balcony. He waved a final goodbye to you as he perched on the railing, and with a mighty jump, he leapt out of sight. You lunged for the railing where he just stood, looking out above you hearing whoops and cheers from the brothers as you caught a final sight of them running over the city skyline. And with a deep breath of the cool night air, you sighed in relief that you weren’t dreaming.

Leo, Raph, Mikey, and

Donatello. You’ll have to remember that. You thought with a grin.

To the people who wanted to be updated when part 2 was released. Sorry for the long wait!! Thanks for the support!

Hey! Can you write a story between Donnie x ghost reader where the reader is trying to be in contact with Donnie but he tries to ignore the signs of a ghost due to their “nonexistent presence”? I felt inspired by Friendly Neighborhood Poltergeist by Roy Webley!

This seems like so much fun to write!! Hope you like it!

Ghosts Aren’t Real

Hey! Can You Write A Story Between Donnie X Ghost Reader Where The Reader Is Trying To Be In Contact

Rise!Donnie X Ghost!Reader

Genre: Angst; Fluff in Part 2

Relationship: Dating

Pronouns: Feminine (She/Her)

Timeline: Post-Movie

Warnings ⚠️: Mentions of death, mild language

===================================

When (Y/N) died during the Kraang invasion, Donnie locked himself in his lab for weeks the second he and his brothers returned to the lair.

He refused to talk about her and actively avoided Leo as he reminded him of (Y/N)‘s sacrifice, whether he spoke about it or not.

Donnie had met her before he met April. When he was overstimulated, (Y/N) was the only person that could distract him. She worked alongside him in his lab almost daily. They made great progress in so many projects. Now they were all scraped.

No.

Donnie was making something better.

Maybe it was morally irresponsible, but he needed (Y/N) back.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The scientist removed his mask and wiped his brow, sighing as he stared up at his invention.
Although he hadn’t eaten in several hours, he was ready to finally begin his biggest experiment of all time.
The purple turtle slowly walked over to the lever jutting up from the ground before remembering something crucial. He ambled over to his desk and grabbed one of (Y/N)’s many possessions: a red sweater.
After placing it in the middle of his invention, he walked back over to the lever and took a deep breath. Donnie went to pull it down, but he hesitated.
“Fuck…” he cursed. He knew he would question his own actions. He knew (Y/N) would question his actions. His brothers. April and Casey.
Donnie’s fear wasn’t that the people around him would reprimand him of bringing someone back to life.
His fear was his karma.
The invasion had drastically changed the turtle’s mindset. Despite being extremely logical, Donnie now feared that he would change his future the same way he and his brothers had. One wrong move and this could come back to bite him worse than any invasion ever could.
Donnie forcibly shook himself out of that mindset. He had spent countless hours on designing a machine that could coincide with his Ninpō and synthetic DNA recreation. All of this couldn’t have been for nothing.
Readjusting his grip on the handle, Donnie flung the lever to the other side, and the machine began to power up. The red sweater slowly floated up, his purple-hued Ninpō suspending the clothing item in the air.
Once the machine was fully powered, the turtle grabbed a remote with a singular red button on it.
“Here goes everything…” Donnie exhaled before pushing the button down with his thumb.
Before he could lift his finger up, the machine exploded, sending rippling vibrations throughout the lab. The turtle was forced back into his desk, papers scattering and mugs half filled with cold coffee shattering on the ground.
When the kicked up debris finally dissipated, Donnie realized that his invention was destroyed.
He spent the night cursing himself wondering why he thought he could play God by bringing someone back from the dead. He should’ve known it would end in disaster.
• • •
Upon waking up in the morning… afternoon, rather, Donnie stretched before scratching the back of his neck. He groaned as he’d realized that he’d fallen asleep in his cold, desolate lab instead of his comfortable bed.
Knowing his shell would eventually make him pay—as he aged—for his posture, the turtle quickly sat up and began his journey to his bathroom.
He tried not to think of his previous failure of bringing his late girlfriend back, but the thought consumed him as he stared at himself in the bathroom mirror. Donnie imagined himself with (Y/N) for the rest of his foreseeable future. She was his everything; she even rivaled his love for science. If she wasn’t there, then who would hand him his morning, afternoon, and evening coffee? Who would bring him metal scraps from the surface—not out of demand, but kindness? Who would bring him out of his overstimulated funks?
Would he have to do all of that himself again?
After thinking of that last question, the air disturbingly changed. It was unusually cold in the bathroom as Donnie looked around for the source of the freezing temperature.
Only after a few seconds, the cold subsided and the uneasy feeling left with it.
• • •
A few days passed and Donnie hadn’t made any progress on any of his projects. But not because of a lack a creativity caused of (Y/N)‘s death, rather, every since the strange incident in the bathroom, more odd occurrences had taken place.
Two days prior, a pile of blueprints fell to the ground despite being pushed away from the edge of his desk. And once he placed them back with a paperweight on top, they fell again within a couple minutes.
The next day, he was freezing cold for the majority of the morning. The thermostat was at a decent level, so he decided to just wrap himself in a blanket until the cold subsided later in the day.
Now today… nothing happened. Everything proceeded as normal: Donnie worked relentlessly on creating another plan to bring back (Y/N), his conscience drowned out by his ambition.
But later that night while the scientist attempted to sleep, he suddenly had the creeping feeling that he was being watched.
Donatello pushed the covers off of him and glanced around his room. He didn’t see anybody. The turtle turned on his flashlight on his phone and looked around again. And again, nothing. Nobody. But there had to have been somebody somewhere watching him, otherwise why would he be feeling a pair of eyes on him?
As the thought passed, Donnie could’ve sworn that he’d heard a whisper. It was faint and intelligible, but unnerving.
“Donnie…”
It was as clear as day. Donnie had heard the whisper again.
The turtle leapt from his bed, landing hard on the concrete floor. “Fuck!” He swore before looking up towards his bed. “Who’s there?!”
There was no answer.
“Goddamnit…” Donnie swore again as he picked up his bow staff and began his search of the lab.
After searching the lab and turning up nothing, Donnie expected to feel calmer, but he felt exactly the opposite. That whisper of his name happened directly into his ear. Inches away from his head. There was no way that somebody could whisper in his ear and then dart back into the lab without Donnie seeing them.
Despite his nerves, he began the journey back to his room.
“Donnie!”
The scientist spun around. Surely he was crazy; he’d just heard the voice again. It was much louder and uncannily familiar.
“Boo…!” The voice was right next to the scientist’s left ear.
Donnie yelped as he threw himself to the ground and aimed his phone to his left. Unlike the other times he’d turn and see nobody…
…he did see somebody.
“(Y/N)…?”
The girl laughed. “You don’t know how entertaining this has been.”
Overly Cautious
Prompt: Katakuri comes back from a mission to learn you're pregnant despite never wanting to be a father.
Requested by anonymous
Katakuri X Fem Reader
Katakuri had been sent on a mission to retrieve something, leaving you alone, having you stand in as the Minister of Flour while he was away. Everything was going well; you had done this plenty of times in the past. But some of the workers had noticed you not eating as much, you’d wave them off without a concern. The concern really came when a cake was being made and just the smell of it made you want to vomit.
         You couldn’t hide it from anyone, you were in the middle of a meeting about the upcoming tea party and what pastries would be served. Everyone forced you to see a doctor, no one wanting to deal with the wrath of your husband if he got back to find you sick.
         And that’s how you ended up in the ward, a doctor running tests and looking you over. Much to your dismay numerous curious eyes also making sure you wouldn’t leave this forced appointment. “And when was the last time you were sexually active?” The question threw you off guard, nearly spitting out the tea that you had been allowed to drink.
You’re face burning red as you whip your head around to look at those who had forced you here. None of them dared to make eye-contact with you, some whistling while looking off in a random direction. They tried to protest when you kicked them out, but you refused to discuss such things in front of so many people. Once the door was finally closed the doctor, who was not too amused asked the question again. “It’s been a little a while, 7 or 8 weeks I think,” Thinking back to the last intimate night you had with Katakuri, he’d been so busy lately that it’d had been longer than normal.
The doctor wrote some notes down and continued with other questions before doing some blood tests. You sat back, expecting this to be a simple flu. That would give you a headache, you’d be forced to bedrest as to not spread it and not slow down progress. The doctor padded his way back into the room, flipping through the papers reading the results of everything he had tested for. “Well, it seems as though you’re pregnant.”
         You took the rest of the day off to think about things. Katakuri had adamantly told you he didn’t want children. He didn’t want to pass down his genes in fear of what could happen, you understood his concerns and agreed to not try. And while you were sexually active, contraceptions were used at every avenue, Birth Control, Condoms, Spermicide, even a Plan B if there was a thought of something going wrong.
         Katakuri would be getting back from his mission in a couple days, so it’s best to just wait until then. Can’t be announcing things like this. As much as you’d prefer to sweep this under the rug, Big Mom was someone who didn’t partake in abortions, wanting a large family and everything, it’d be counter-productive in her mind. So as much as you wanted too, you’d have to go to a different island, and that included having Katakuri with you to avoid Big Mom’s gaze.
         But your plans changed quickly, despite clearly telling the Doctor to keep the news secret, the next day you arrived to the office with banners and some tastefully small cakes. Cards going around with small gifts as though it was common place to celebrate so early on. You tried to get them to calm down, but everyone was overjoyed that their leader finally had an heir on the way.
~~~

         Katakuri stared off into the distance, leaning against the wall as the ship got closer to their homeland. It had been a pointless mission, delivering a letter to a foreign country, demanding there be talks of a marriage. He hated being away from Komugi island for too long, from his normal job as the Minister of Flour. There he’d at least be able to relax a little bit more than normal, and when he was with you, he could let his guard down completely. Trusting you to cover for him or tell him if someone was coming. Being on a ship where he refused to lay down in fear of prying eyes had taken a toll on him, no matter how short the trip was.

         As the ship docked some of his administrators found him, happy as ever with large smiles. He wasn’t listening too much to their words of congratulations, assuming it was just words on finishing the mission, he just wanted to make it home so he could finally sleep on his back.

         As he was bidding farewell to those around him, one of them said something rather confusing, “Ah, tell Y/N that the mid-wife will be around to talk to her next week. I forgot to let her know earlier.” A mid-wife? For his Wife? Katakuri swallowed the lump in his throat, reasoning that it had to have been due to some unforeseen baby boom in the town.

         But as he passed through the halls of his home, he noticed servants scurrying about more than normal. All with excited faces, some with parcels in their hands. It wasn’t until he got to your room pushing the door open to see you sitting at your tea table, a hand rubbing your forehead, “If it’s another gift then send it back. How many times do I need to tell you all to keep this quiet.” Your tired voice brushing past him while you waved your hand, not even looking in the direction of the door.

         You heard the door close and let out a heavy sigh, looking to the already inconvenient pile of baby toys, clothes, and furniture that people of the island had pushed onto you. Nobody in this god forsaken town could keep quiet, which would make things so much harder, if Big Mom got word of this, you were more than certain you wouldn’t be able to pass off a random miscarriage without her knowing the truth.

         “What is all this?” You jumped a bit, hearing your husbands voice. You never even got word of his arrival to the island, much less that he had already come home.

         “We need to talk.” You voice was serious as you looked over at him, he was staring down at you unmoving. “Why not sit down?” He stayed still, crossing his arms for an explanation and you sighed again, this wasn’t normal for him, but you were already too tired to deal with it.

         Your sigh caused Katakuri to take another step further, “I get that you must be doing some fundraiser or gala. But you shouldn’t have these donations in here.” You spit out your drink, looking up at you’re normally smart husband.

         “Excuse me?” The silence as he stares at you hit you hard, “You think I’m doing a fundraiser? And you think all these stupid things are donations? Is that really what you think?!” Your annoyance peeking through clearly. First the news got, then the storm of gifts, and now even your husband seems to be getting on your nerves. “Katakuri I’m pregnant.” You shake your head, stating it out right was best in these types of situations, “So, might I suggest you sit down so we can talk abou-“

         “Your idea of a joke is awful Y/N,” He walks over to the neat stacks of gifts, all of which you were sending back when you got the chance, “I mean really? You think staging some baby items is enough to convince me? This prank is in bad taste.” His regal voice showed no sign of joking and it made you more frustrated than you already were.

         “This isn’t a joke,” You were getting another headache but the subtle glare he shot you made it clear he wasn’t going to listen, “You know what? You just got home, why don’t you rest? I’ll send these gifts back in the meantime.”

~~~
         The next day Katakuri came to his office looking a little more refreshed and prepared for the day. He sits down in the confines of the space and starts looking through the reports, “It seems you fell a little behind while I was away. Why?” His smooth tone showing you he was ignoring everything you said the day prior.
         You had expected something like this to happen so you put the paper with the test result in front of him. “You’re lovely administers made me go to the doctors after some sickness.” His eyes scanned the paper, reading every detail until you could tell he landed on the prognosis. “I’m about 2 months along.”
         Katakuri sucks in his breath, you can tell by the twist of his eyebrow that this isn’t going to be fun, deciding to sit on the couch while you wait for his response.
Honestly, you barely had time to process this all yourself, being pushed and pulled everywhere by workers. The only time you had time to think for yourself was late at night when people thought you’d be sleeping. The first night you had spent just staring into the darkness that was the room trying to figure out the situation. Truly, you could relate to what Katakuri was probably going through.
         You two never planned on being parents. You vehemently discussed avoiding parenthood the natural way, maybe adopting if you’re mother-in-law became pushy. The thing you wanted most right now was a glass of whiskey, but for clear reasons you couldn’t get one. Your body felt so tense since finding out, your muscles aching from the lack of relaxing.
You were hoping that your husband would be the one to make sense of it for you, but seeing how he’s reacted so far, he was in the same boat as you. It stung, your heart dropping slightly as you put on this front of neutrality. But it was the best you could do, if you didn’t maintain this semblance of control over yourself, you felt like you’d break down.
Finally, your husband spoke, although his words didn’t make you feel any better. If anything, it caused you to go further into the downward spiral that was your mind, “Well then whose is it?” His voice was dipped in venom but maintained a single tone, “If you wanted a kid so bad, we could have adopted.”
You bit your tongue, staring at the floor in front of you. He waited a couple second for a response but you couldn’t bring any words to come out before he continued, “You didn’t have to go behind my back like this.” His even tone made every muscle in your body tense more than they already were.
A knock at the door caught both of your attentions, yet your body was still tightly wound as you got up, opening the door to let whoever it was in. Someone with a bunch of papers and a wide smile looked back at you and you ushered them in while brushing your way out of the suffocating room.
Offering small smiles to those you passed as you hurried away from the situation. It was only after you had gotten to a small reading room and locked the door behind you that you slid down onto the floor. Your room was too far away and this was unused enough that no one would come looking here. A hand pressed against your stomach while the other tangled itself in your hair, gripping tightly to feel anything other than the heavy emotions that have flowed through you for days now.
You haven’t let anyone know of your own feelings on this matter, other than wanting to keep it on the down low, everyone assuming it was so you could Katakuri yourself, and yet somehow that one single voiced wish hadn’t come true. The entire island singing praise and you were the center of their attention.
You began panting, your throat swelling up making it hard to grasp at air, feeling your body start to shake. Even Katakuri wasn’t willing to listen. This has to be a lot for him, but I thought he loved me. Your body curling in on itself, the hand in your hair running down to grip at the back of your neck while your nails dug into your stomach. He even suggested I had cheated on him, found another man. The thought itself made you sick to your stomach, your heart beat drowning out any noise around you, and eyes squeezing shut as the world got darker around you. Am I just an object to everyone? You tried, and failed at opening your mouth, attempting to get any air to fill your compressed lungs. The beating of your heart the only reminder of that you were in fact alive.
~~~

         Katakuri was walking down the hallways. Every time he passed someone who worked with you, he’d ask the same questions. All of them similar stories that made his heart twist with worry, and yet when he went looking for you, you were nowhere to be found. It had been hours since you disappeared from his office without a second glance, the thought of how you left was now hurting him, now that he’s had time to calm down and truly think about everything.

         Since no one could find you, he was the person that people were bringing presents too, all of which he ushered to be sent wherever you had put them, some people asking if he had seen you so they could ask more questions. He hadn’t even been back a full day and yet he was overwhelmed with so much. Stalking back to your bedroom, assuming that could be his one quiet place, maybe even find you again to try and have a conversation about everything.

         His heart jumped into his throat thinking about it, you had been trying to talk to him this entire time and each attempt was met with malice. You were so patient, letting him voice his hate and distrust. Watching you sit on the couch silently, neither confirming nor denying allegations said to you, though your knuckles turned white in your lap. But what else could he think? With every safeguard the two of you had put into place, how else could you had ended up with a child growing inside of you? Walking into your shared room he looked around, the pile of gifts in the corner seemingly doubled in size from previously in the day.

Yet still, there wasn’t a sign of you anywhere. Katakuri paced a bit, looking for any sign that you had been here after leaving him earlier. But there wasn’t a single thing out of place or used compared to this morning. The realization that no one has seen you for most of the day hitting him with a cold sweat as he calls for security

and the bayv turts are like "damn they they kinda" so they just keep 'accidentally' running into the reader in random situations and become and little obsessed infatuated

so at some point one or all of them follow reader home and they see the reader with a bunch of lil baby teetles and this sends like a little "protect" switch of in their head and then they go yandere

then basically reader is a little paranoid and start scavenging everything they can to send the guys home bc they aren't safe and they want to go home to their dad and stuff

anyways

Feeling Fangs

Title: Feeling Fangs

Pairing: Charlotte Katakuri x Wife!Reader

Word Count: 3.2k

Summary: You find out what your husband has been hiding from you after he loses against Straw Hat, but you find yourself fixating on how pretty he is without his scarf.

Master List

A/N: My bf won't let me read about this man because I'm not far enough in the anime so I'll just write about him instead. And read about him but my bf doesn't have to know that part yet. He's worried about spoilers but what spoilers am I gonna get from all that smut? Also I just like men with fangs.

You didn't particularly care who one this little war that broke out, as long as your husband is fine. There's no doubt in your mind that he'll survive, you just don't want to see him hurt. Sure, the two of you have never really been romantic or anything, your marriage was somewhat political, but you've grown fond of him. So when his little sister is kneeling on the street saying he lost, your heart drops.

"Brulee, get me in there," you hiss in her ear. "I need to make sure he's okay."

There's tears in her eyes as she looks at you quizzically. "How did you get here?"

"This isn't the time for that. Let me in the mirror dimension."

She nods quickly and lets you through. Her steps are hesitant as she follows behind you. You make note of the chefs slumped against a wall, curious as to who killed them. It doesn't matter to you as you stumble closer to your husband.

It's the first time you've seen him like this. Even when it's time to sleep, he's still awake, sitting up in bed doing who knows what as you drift off. Right now, he's asleep on his back with a hat on his face. You quickly locate his scarf next to a group of people, ignoring them.

You've never seen him without his scarf, but you figure out that everyone here has. The chefs must've seen him without it, so he's the one who killed them. Everyone else must've passed out from something in the battle, but they've all seen him too.

"Brulee, tie up everyone here. It doesn't matter who they are, I want them unable to leave," you say in a low voice. "If you fail to do this, I won't forgive you."

While she follows your orders, you crouch down to rewrap his scarf. You make sure to hide his face from view as you carefully lift the hat. Biting your lip in anticipation, you do your best to not wake him. As you unveil his full face, you feel yourself get flustered.

Poking out from his lips are four shiny fangs. You do your best to not reach out and touch them, wondering how sharp they are. You expected something frightening under the scarf, but Katakuri is actually just as pretty as you thought he was. You don't know how you lucked out to get him, but you'll think about that later.

You make quick work with his scarf, noticing he's missing his jacket. You'll have to look for it later, your focus needs to be on finding Pudding. It doesn't matter that she's rude to you, what matters is her ability. You had overheard it in passing, but her ability to manipulate memories is what makes her the key.

"Let's go, I need to find Pudding."

Thankfully, you can see her hiding on the other side of the mirror you came in. It might take a moment to run and get her, but you'll put yourself through whatever you need to. The most important thing to you is wiping everyone's memory of what Katakuri looks like.

You dash through the fight, weaving your way through both enemies and the Big Mom pirates. Ducking down next to Pudding, you catch your breath for just a moment while she stares starry eyed at someone.

"Sanji..." she mumbles before glaring at you. "What do you want?"

"I need you to alter some memories for me."

She gives you an evil smile. "Why would I do that? Just because you're my big brother's wife doesn't mean I'll help you."

You frown. "I won't tell anyone that you've fallen in love with Sanji and most likely helped him escape."

"What?! You have no proof!"

You pull her up and start dragging her behind you. "I may not have concrete proof, but I'm not stupid. Besides, your reaction is my proof."

She grumbles something about you being an ass, but she follows you.

"You also need to wipe some of Brulee's memory.  If you tell anyone what you saw in them, I'll tell everyone that you helped Sanji escape. Do you understand?"

She nods. "Alright, I understand. Why what did they see?"

You set your jaw. "At the very least, they saw Katakuri without his scarf. I'm not sure what else they saw."

You watch over her shoulder as she shoves her hand into people's memories. It's a little gross, but it'll get the job done. It's better to threaten one person over a dozen.

There's a moment where Luffy slips and falls, gaining a large wound in his stomach due to being numbed. After finding out why, you watch Katakuri stab himself and pull off his scarf. It's nice to see a pirate try to have a fair fight, giving you a bit more insight as to what your husband is actually like.

"I guess it's a bit weird that he didn't want help if he couldn't defeat Straw Hat, but it doesn't make him lame. Those idiots don't realize they're the lame ones," Pudding grumbles. "Do you think Sanji has the same idea?"

You shrug. "It seems like his captain does at least so probably. Do I look like Sanji?"

Pudding scowls. "Shut up. Let me do this."

You don't miss the days when you'd have mood swings about men. That's the one good thing about having an arranged marriage, you don't have to worry about your feelings for other people.

"Mirrors, are any of you in an intact room? One with a big bed and access to water."

One a little ways away responds, and you look back at your passed out husband. You don't know how you're getting him there. Maybe you should've thought about that ahead of time, but it doesn't matter now. You can figure it out, you always do.

—-

It's been at least one day since you dragged him into bed, and Katakuri has yet to wake up. You can feel yourself dozing off every time you sit down, so you do your best to stay occupied. You prepare food, make sure you have enough water to wipe him down and let him drink, and constantly rearranging things. On one hand you want him to wake up so you know he's not in a coma, on the other hand you want him to get as much rest as he needs.

What you want doesn't matter, as you hear him wake up suddenly with a gasp. In your shock, you drop the plate you were holding.

"There's no need to wake up so aggressively, Katakuri. You're safe," you reassure as you pick up the bigger pieces of the plate. "How are you feeling?"

"How did I end up here? What did you see?" His voice is low, almost threatening.

You dump the bigger pieces in the trash and start sweeping. "We can talk about that later. You should have some water and eat. Then you should go back to sleep. I patched you up as well as I can, but I'm not a doctor."

He starts to pull the covers off, giving you a harsh look. "What did you-"

You dump the dustpan's contents into the trash before setting the broom to the side. "Like I said, it can wait. No offense, but you don't particularly scare me when you're ripping open your wounds."

His face goes a bit red as you tell him off. You want him to feel better before you deal with any other matters. That includes the talk of whether he'll choose to kill you for seeing his face.

"I made you some food, so just sit up."

Thankfully, he obeys. Katakuri doesn't even protest as you feed him. You make sure to avert your eyes, just for his comfort. He seems to be extremely hungry, eating all the food you've made. By the time it's all gone, he looks tired again.

"Get some more sleep, I'll lock the door. I wanted to be awake when you woke up, but now that that has happened, I can sleep."

He watches as you turn the lock and slide the broom handle through the loops of the door handles. You do the same with the window, shoving a fire poker through the handle before closing the curtains once more. Giving each of them a tug, you feel satisfied when nothing clatters to the ground.

"When did you sleep?" Katakuri asks, watching you intently. "You look..."

"Terrible, I know. I don't think I've slept since before the tea party, though. I'd have to think about it."

You crawl into the other side of the bed. It's a bit small, but leaning against him makes it a bit more comfortable. Despite your efforts, you find yourself dozing off before making sure he sleeps. There's no way he's getting out of the bed though, you've managed to lay on his arm.

—-

By the time you wake up, Katakuri is fast asleep. For what must be the first time ever, he's got his arm around you, holding you close. You watch him for just a moment, admiring how pretty he is. You want to reach up and play with his hair, but you ignore that feeling and try to wiggle from his grasp.

Even with how battered he is, you find it difficult to free yourself. You knew he was strong, ridiculously so, but you didn't realize he's just this strong. After freeing yourself, you feel exhausted again.

Thankfully, Pudding has left another basket of food for you, complete with an angry note about how she's not your delivery girl and if she's going to bring you stuff you need to be there. You roll your eyes and throw away the note. If she had important things to say, she can say them to your face.

You help yourself to an apple, crunching away as you try to figure out what to make. It would be nice if you could access a bigger kitchen with more ingredients, but this will have to do. Hopefully it's enough food, you've seen the size of  the food he eats.

With a sigh, you give up. Exhaustion still flows through you, so you focus on things that don't require a lot of thought. So you eat and wash the dishes, making sure to be as quiet as possible. It's better for him to wake up naturally, not due to you being a jerk.

Once there's nothing more to do, you make your way to the bed. You check the wounds, letting the smaller and scabbed ones breathe. Almost all of his injuries have stopped bleeding, you just can't check the one you're most worried about. He needs to wake up for you to take a look.

As you reach towards his head, his hand shoots up and grabs your wrist tightly. You wince in pain, surprised at how tight his grip is.

"What are you doing?"

You tug on his fingers. "Checking the scrape on your forehead. I want to make sure it closed up."

He cautiously releases you. "Don't do anything else."

You click your tongue against your teeth. "Have some more faith in me, Katakuri. I'm your wife, I have no ill intentions."

"We need to talk."

You start unwrapping the dressing. "What do you want to know?"

Katakuri breaks eye contact with you. "What happened after I lost?"

"Well, we lost. I dragged you out of here with some help."

"What about the others in the mirror dimension? What happened to them?"

The blood that makes up the scab also goes into his hairline, so you make a note to bathe with him so it doesn't open. "Those chefs are dead. Your little sister and her stupid fan club on the other hand are alive."

"Where are they now?" he asks, furrowing his brow. "What about the cam-snails?"

"I have no idea where they went after they woke up. I collected the cam-snails though, they're in a bag here."

His hand makes its way to your thigh, holding you down. "What did you see? What did you do?"

"I put your scarf on, tied everyone up, and made Pudding alter their memories. Straw Hat knows, but based on how I found you, I don't think that matters."

"How did you-"

You give a small smirk. "Poor little Pudding was so against marriage, but she ended up falling in love with that Sanji boy. I told her that I would keep it a secret if she kept yours. I'm telling you in case you choose to... you know."

His other hand pulls down his scarf. "So you know. And you're still here?"

Satisfied with the head scrape, you pull back a bit. "Of course. You're injured, where else would I be?"

"Aren't you afraid?" He pulls his face into a scowl. "Don't you think-"

Your eyes flutter shut as you lean forward and kiss him. It's nothing romantic, just a quick press of your lips on his, but you pull away flustered.

"Why did you do that?" His eyes are wide.

You blink in surprise. "Why did I do that?"

"How would I know, I'm not-"

You lean forward and kiss him again. His lips are soft, and when you lick your own after pulling away, you find them sweet.

"What are you-" You cut him off again with a kiss.

"This plan isn't-" Even after a fourth kiss, you can't stop.

Before he says anymore, he grabs your face in both hands. "Stop whatever nonsense this is. What are you trying to do?"

You've never seen Katakuri look like this. His face is flushed and his eyes are wide.

"I just really wanted to do that."

It’s now his turn to blink in shock. “Why?”

“You’re just…” You look away, knowing that your face is burning up. “Katakuri, you’re so pretty.”

He doesn’t say anything, just looks at you intensely. You’re worried he’s upset, you did just keep interrupting him with kisses, but that thought is dashed within seconds as he pulls you into a kiss.

His tongue pushes past your bottom lip, pressing into your mouth. Even when you try to take control of the kiss, it takes him no effort to keep you in place. His tongue overpowering yours and exploring your mouth, filling your taste buds with sweetness.

Due to the size difference, his tongue fills your mouth, eagerly searching every part of your mouth. You can’t help the dirty thoughts that start to fill your mind, thinking of other ways he could use his tongue. All you can focus on is how sweet he tastes and how much you enjoy kissing him.

You’re completely breathless once he pulls away, panting as you try to breathe. Through half lidded eyes, you watch him recover. His face is somehow even more flushed and he’s looking at your lips. Without thinking, you blurt out the first thing to come to mind.

“Katakuri, can you bite me? Please?”

His thumb brushes softly against your cheek. “Are you sure you want that?”

You rub your cheek into his palm, letting out a soft hum. “Please?”

Titling your head to the side, you expose your neck. You have no idea why you want him to bite you so badly, you just do. If he tells you no, you won’t ask again, you just want to experience it this once.

The hand on your other cheek slides down to your shoulder. You feel his warm breath on your neck, and you bite your lip in anticipation. At first, he just presses a soft kiss to your neck, carefully holding you like you might break. Then, without warning, you feel his teeth sink into your neck.

You let out a gasp, and your hand grips his shoulder. It’s not a harsh bite, just the very tips of his fangs. The only pain you feel is the initial breaking of your skin, but once that passes, you feel flushed and warm. It’s really doing something for you, and you don’t want him to stop.

“Did that hurt?” Katakuri asks, pulling away at your gasp.

You draw a shaky breath as he licks the marks on your skin. “You drew blood. That’ll always hurt, but I’m fine.”

He hums softly as he makes sure you’re not bleeding anymore. His touch is gentle and light, and you let out a groan as he traces invisible patterns into your skin. You want more, and you lace your hand in his hair.

Suddenly, there’s a knock at the door. You pull away from Katakuri, adjusting your shirt to cover the mark. You wait for him to pull his scarf back up straight under his nose. There’s still a dusting of pink across the tips of his ears, but he doesn’t look as flustered with his scarf up.

He nods, and you open the door. Pudding stands there with her arms crossed, pouting. She pushes past you, dumping a bunch of stuff on table.

“Here’s everything you asked for, don’t ask me for stuff again. You can start getting it yourself!” She puts her hands on her hips. “I’ve done what you wanted for the past three days. I’m done!”

Katakuri moves to get out of the bed, but you wave him down. Both of the siblings deserve their rest. That’s the only thing you should focus on.

“Thank you Pudding. Go get some rest, we’ll be okay.”

She looks surprised, before huffing. “Of course I’m going to get rest. I deserve it.”

She gives you another dirty look before storming out. It’s like a whirlwind came in, scolded you, and left. You don’t really care. She did her best to help you, so you can cut her some slack.

“She shouldn’t talk to you like that.”

You close the door and lock it once more. “It’s fine. Everyone is under stress right now, including you. You should get some more sleep if you can.”

Katakuri tugs his scarf off, letting it rest on the floor. You want to go fluster him again, but you just stay still. Seeing him like this, battered and bruised, makes your heart ache.

“Are you going to sleep as well?”

You give him a soft smile. “Do you want me to come and get more sleep?”

He doesn’t meet your eyes as he answers. “It’s your choice.”

You walk over and place your hand on his cheeks, making him look at you. “Do you need me next to you for you to sleep?”

Unfortunately, you seem to have pushed him just far enough to annoy him. He gives you a stern look as he wraps his arms around you. Even though he’s annoyed, he’s gentle as he pulls you on top of him.

You squirm slightly in a halfhearted attempt to get him to let you go. His grip is iron tight, and he has no intention of letting you go. This is the first time he’s ever insisted on having you sleep next to him, and it makes you feel warm inside.

Once you stop moving, his grip looses just enough for you to get a bit more comfortable. You lay your head on his chest, closing your eyes to listen to his heart beat. It’s relaxing, and you feel yourself get drowsy. You know it’s all over, when he starts to rub your back.

There’s the sound of his saying something, but you fail to catch it as you fall asleep. You don’t even notice the soft kiss he presses to your head while you drift off.
