Hey, so, uh. Finally remaking/updating my pinned. Because everything sucks, and things have gotten worse. Anyone who knows me would know by now that my living situation… isn’t great. My mother’s abusive, and neglectful.

Unfortunately, it turns out this living arrangement is permanent, [and not temporary, despite me being told, 5 months ago, that it would be,] until I’m able to move out myself… which I’m not legally able to do for another year and a half.

So, here I am again, asking for the kindness of people on the internet. Please, if you are able to do so, consider commissioning me, or leaving a little something on Ko-fi.

For the next… well, however long I’m stuck here for, a year or so at least, I’ll need money for;

— Phone/SIM Plan

Art is my only form of income, as, due to disability and schooling, I am unable to work without posing the risk of significant harm to myself. Due to my age, I am also unable to receive any benefits.

I'm sorry if you're tired of thinking about ofmd and that whole mess but goddamn... it's incredibly painful to see so many people trying to set up fundraisers to get their families out of gaza and the sudan and desperately trying to get their loved ones to safety, I've seen so many and everyday I check to see how much progress they've made, most of them still haven't hit their goal. It hurts to see people rally around a tv show and raise all this money for a billboard, and it's very frustrating to see how people have reacted to this criticism. Like bro tv shows get canceled sometimes there's more important stuff going on

Someone else said it better but to see a fundraiser for tv show renewal advertisements raise $20,000 in less than a day while it takes days/weeks/months/years/never for fundraisers for actual causes that help real people in need reach a goal of less is absolutely dystopian and shameful

oh god i’d heard about the “i won’t commission artists who undercharge for their art” post and now it’s making its rounds on my dash.

please understand that this concept does not actually help anyone. the sensible thing to do if an artist is undercharging is to tip them for what you think their work it worth, and be sure to let them know that. even if this doesn’t cause them to actually change their base prices, at least YOU’RE paying for what it’s worth, and THEY’RE getting business instead of nothing.

by essentially boycotting artists who are already unsure of the value of their own work (and are thus underpricing) you’re not sending any positive message. no one is going to up their commission prices when nobody is buying them. the only thing the artist gets out of it is that people don’t want to buy their art for some reason, and people who’s products aren’t selling aren’t going to say “oh i guess it was because i wasn’t charging enough, i’ll pump up the prices!”

if you want to support a commission artist, please do it by actually SUPPORTING THEM WITH COMMISSIONS rather than by choosing to take your business elsewhere because their prices were too low.
