In Fandom, "who's The Top And Who's The Bottom" Is Heteronormativity To The Highest Degree. It Is Quite

in fandom, "who's the top and who's the bottom" is heteronormativity to the highest degree. it is quite literally a progressive, "queer" way of asking "who's the man and who's the woman in the relationship?"

the top is always the more masculine one, big and strong, owning the bottom, doing the penetrating. the bottom is always the more feminine one, referred to as "wife," "princess," "babygirl," being owned by the top, being penetrated. and 9 times out of 10, this top/bottom bullshit is in reference to a M/M pairing— you want a traditional heterosexual couple but you're so incredibly misogynistic you can't even bear the presence of a woman even if she is being degraded, so you make the "bottom" take her place.

We live in a world where millions of women and girls are raped, sexually abused and harassed every day. You wanting to be strangled and hit during sex is not revolutionary at all.

men should be banned from using band names that imply there are women in the band and then having no (or only like. one) women. like. scissor sisters. queen. machine girl. black veil brides. sisters of mercy. all your sisters. women. queens of the stone age. she wants revenge. alice in chains. actually kind of crazy how many there are considering it's rare for women to do the inverse. like what is it with that. so annoying when i think i found a cool band with women in it and it's jsut another bunch of dudes.

"as a feminist i'm politically homeless" "the left is just as sexist as the right" "i won't vote for the left because they support the trans agenda". okay yeah but also the left (not the right) support

equal pay for women

keeping women in employment

fighting against sexism/sexual harassment in the workplace

reducing religious influence on public life

increasing social welfare directed at single mothers

increasing pensions for elderly women

increasing social welfare for disabled women

scholarships for young women and girls in education

women owning a bank account

women owning a house

women having the right to divorce

abortion

birth control

lesbianism being legal

lesbians being allowed to adopt

gay marriage

woc being able to vote

better housing conditions, better working conditions, better healthcare (not a woman-only issue but definitely improve womens life)

maternal leave

welcoming refugees (including women)

other parts of the left are also the only part of the political spectrum that support

abolishing surrogacy

abolishing porn

abolishing prostitution

abolishing religion

like at some point if "the left" (not a monolith. also you often just mean liberals) supporting self id is a deal breaker for you you have to realize you must be very privileged when it comes to class race and disability imo. bc poor women, disabled women and woc need leftist politics if we dont want our lives to become absolutely awful. not to mention "the left" isnt a monolith and there are parts of the left that dont support transactivism

but sureee keep saying "the left is just as bad as the right" at a time when the far-right is on the rise pretty much all over the world (or is already in power) and religious fundies are repelling women's reproductive and human rights as a result. i'm sure this is a very responsible, smart and feminist thing to do

If I Could Go Back 15 Years And Tell Myself This

It's absolutely cruel to women in general to have gender neutral bathrooms replacing women's rooms, but it's downright unfathomably evil to do this to little and teen girls, especially in schools.

Imagine being 9 and getting your first period, bleeding all over the toilet, thinking you're dying, and having your male peers in the room with you instead of just other girls who can get you cleaned up and comfort you, telling you what a period is and that you're safe.

Imagine being 12 and having endometriosis, curled up on the toilet in agony on your lunch break at school, and hearing the boys in the next stall over making sex jokes (or worse - laughing at your sobbing).

Imagine being 10 and having no way to hide the fact that you changed your pad from the boys in your grade who will then go on to tease you and say you're bitchy and hormonal if you fight back.

Imagine being 14 and trying to find a moment of reprieve from the boys sexually harassing you, only to have them follow you into the bathroom and record audio of you urinating.

Imagine being 6, just entering first grade, and having an older boy kick open the cubicle you were struggling to lock.

Imagine being 17 and having your male peers crawl under your cubicle, phone in hand, camera app on.

Imagine being 15 and having nowhere to be with just your female friends to cry about heartbreak or harassment, or even just to be with girls alone to laugh and joke in peace.

Lack of sex segregated accommodations in wartime prisons are considered a human rights violation by the Geneva conventions for a reason. This is psychological torture towards our girls. It's evil. Truly fucking evil.

i used to cry so much as a little girl cause the tights and dresses were uncomfortable and having my hair brushed and braided and put clips in it hurt and when i cried i was punished physically & emotionally; i learned that discomfort and pain is inevitable (and then being shocked to realize that this isn't the case for boys and men; how comfortable they are in their t-shirts and shorts and their bare face and short hair, with no pressure to change any of it). then having others act as if growing up as a girl is enjoying all those things that hurt you and having people take your emotions seriously. just like being a teenage girl is supposedly slumber parties and playing with makeup and gossiping about boys when in reality it was being sexually harassed and assaulted and being ashamed of your body and of being female at 12 yrs old and being terrified of men for as long as you can remember and being denied from seeing your girlfriend because your relationship is Sinful and being 14 and knowing you're seen as nothing but a sexual object meant to be used and abused by men; to be touched and groped and kissed and hurt and threatened and asked "how much" by a random man on the street; asked to cover your legs so you wont tempt adult men. and growing up to be a woman and being told none of that actually happened, or if it did, it means you're the privileged one for experiencing girlhood and femininity; not having the right to talk about how much it all hurt you, how much it hurts other girls and women all around the world, how males simply do not know what it's like; to be told to stay silent or you're the violent oppressor, because you talking about your experiences as a female human and showing dismay about the things that hurt us are the same as genocide. being mansplained these experiences by people who never experienced it. everything is the same except now i'm supposed to play along with pretending my oppression is actually a privilege.

Two people are standing in front of you. One is male, and says “I want to share a space with her”. The other is female, and says “I don’t want to share a space with him”.

Think: Which person do you listen to? Which person’s desires do you care more about? Which person’s preferences do you think are more important? Which person’s boundaries do you think are less important? Which person do you think is more important, and which person do you think is less important? Why?

i cannot put into words how sad i get when i see girls/women talking about wanting to get cosmetic surgery. there is nothing fucking wrong with having a face/body. why do you need to drop thousands to live up to a beauty standard? “omfg it’s her choice. y’all are feminists until it comes to what she chooses to do with surgery”. yes because why did she feel the need to make that choice? why can’t we accept that plastic surgery is meant to feed off of women’s insecurities?

i remember being told when i was about 12 and wanted to be a doctor “you could be a plastic surgeon” and immediately saying that i didn’t wanna see women pay me to “fix” them. i hate plastic surgery so bad. i know societal pressure is rough but it’s really not worth it :(
