Having a new blog is so refreshing
vtmb is incredible because its not not misogynistic in a super 2004 way, but somehow you still get the vibe that the devs fuckin love women. 80% of all the best lines are said by extremely interesting and varied women who all have massive bouncing honkers you can cover the walls of your in-game apartment with pictures of. its serving "of course i like bitches! my best friend has tits!" vibes
favorite thing in the world is when game mechanics reflect character powers. like. haha oh nooooo i got too uppity and now my boss has used his mind control powers on me and taken my free will away which is reflected in my dialogue options being revoked, free choice is an illusion oh nooooooo
“hey ho let’s go folklore and rock and roll” so true. that’s how eurovision should be
sometimes im watching bojack horseman and itll be really emotional until i realise how ridiculous the names are like “mr peanutbutter” “pinky penguin” “princess carolyn” “hollyhock manheim-mannheim-guerrero-robinson-zilberschlag-hsung-fonzarelli-mcquack” “butterscotch” “herb kazzaz” “sextina aquafina” I COULD GO ON.
ocean house hotel is not even the scariet mission in vtmb. there are other parts of the game that genuinely feel scary or unsettling. the plague in downtown is unsettling, and looking though the empty skyeline apartments is unsettling. hiding in the santa monica parking lot and overhearing the rumours about the killer is unsettling. investigating the tape in hollywood is unsettling. even the luckee star motel has a weird disquieting feeling to it. ocean house hotel and its jumpscares are nothing in comparison. i just think this game is good at communicating the loneliness and the growing anxiety of being a blood-sucking monster while knowing there are scarier things out there.
