For all you Messmer writers/artists fighting with his Shakespearean speech: this guide is straightforward and has multiple parts if you click around. Hereās a small chart with terms of address, examples of word order/basic questions, and some verbs.
Hereās a simple explanation of ā-ethā and ā-estā verb endings.
Ranni and several other characters also speak this way or in a similar fashion. Something to note is that āyouā was used by lower-ranking people to address those of a higher rank/status, and āthou/theeā by higher-ranking people to address those of a lower rank/status. Alternatively, nobles used āyouā amongst themselves, which adds some flavor to dialogue.
A lot of Shakespearean dialogue is meant to showcase how performative and ridiculous the nobility or upper-classes were during his time (and still is nothing changed lmao). There are tons of Shakespearean dictionaries as well; a lot of words we use today meant something entirely different then, or had different contextual interpretations. Itās meant to sound flowery and has a particular cadence that I recommend listening to as well. Find a good reading on YouTube and really listen to how the words fit against each other. No, you donāt have to write in metered verse (sweats in iambic pentameter) or rhymed prose, but it helps develop dialogue that flows and feels more natural when you can imagine how it sounds as you write.
Hereās a glossary. Have fun with it, donāt let it roll you. Weak foe ahead.
[id : a digital doodle of naffeclipse's sleuth jesters eclipse. he is in a casual pose, his left arm down and right arm up, holding a cigar that is smoking. his shirt is unbuttoned to expose some of his toned chest, and his coat is down at his elbows. he has a big grin on his face showcasing his teeth. ./ end id] i loved it when the jesters said "it's sleuthin' time" and sleuthed all over the place
sleuth eclipse by the ever beloved @naffeclipse (i'm sorry for the slooty)

I loved @neanmoins-que 's Godwyn design and had to draw something based on it :]

What if when we were born we were each assigned a Wikipedia page like a social security number would that be fucked up or what
In Ep7 S1 we can see Stolas hiding behind the menu and BlitzĆø clearly interpreted that gesture as he was ashamed to be seen in public with him. (Also I saw few videos about Stolas being a ājerkā to him and they all put that clip in between)(yes, Stolas has been a jerk in the past but anyway I donāt think this is the case)
I think he was just embarrassed to be under the spotlight (growing up he was never a protagonist so itās normal he stayed the quiet, shy owl he was as a kid)
Doesnāt look ashamed here to be seen with BlitzĆø by the whole Lust Ring
coiling (up in a ball, in on themselves, against something, etc)
panting (thereās a slew of adjectives you can put after this, my favorites are shakily, weakly, etc)
keeling over (synonyms are words like collapsing, which is equally as good but overused in media)
trembling/shivering (additional adjectives could be violently, uncontrollably, etc)
sobbing (weeping is a synonym but iāve never liked that word. also love using sob by itself, as a noun, like āhe let out a quiet sobā)
whimpering (love hitting the wips with this word when a character is weak, especially when the pain is subsiding. also love using it for nightmares/attacks and things like that)
clinging (to someone or something, maybe even to themselves or their own clothes)
writhing/thrashing (maybe someoneās holding them down, or maybe theyāre in bed alone)
crying (not actual tears. cry as in a shrill, sudden shout)
dazed (usually after the pain has subsided, or when adrenaline is still flowing)
wincing (probably overused but i love this word. synonym could be grimacing)
doubling-over (kinda close to keeling over but they donāt actually hit the ground, just kinda fold in on themselves)
heaving (i like to use it for describing the way someoneās breathing, ex. āheaving breathsā but can also be used for the nasty stuff like dry heaving or vomiting)
gasping/sucking/drawing in a breath (or any other words and phrases that mean a sharp intake of breath, that shite is gold)
murmuring/muttering/whispering (or other quiet forms of speaking after enduring intense pain)
hiccuping/spluttering/sniffling (words that generally imply crying without saying crying. the word crying is used so much it kinda loses its appeal, thatās why i like to mix other words like these in)
stuttering (or other general terms that show an impaired ability to speak ā when someoneās in intense pain, it gets hard to talk)
staggering/stumbling (there is a difference between pain that makes you not want to stand, and pain that makes it impossible to stand. explore that!)
recoiling/shrinking away (from either the threat or someone trying to help)
pleading/begging (again, to the threat, someone trying to help, or just begging the pain to stop)
