I don't know why at an ungodly time (4:34 am) i decided to write my character venture's backstory but here we go!

#i gotta get back up, i gotta keep running. I can't afford to trip again, i have to get to that... Castle..!?#
#Screw it i don't care what it is, but i gotta make it there to get away from these things!#
The sound of those things catching up was right behind them, almost breathing down their neck. Suddenly finding themselves jumping on pieces of a collapsed bridge floating through the lava below, not being able to tell if the Burning sensation is from whats below or the pain in there legs . One slip means death, by either this lava or the skeletons close behind. They claw their way up
#Close the door, close the door!#
/SLAM/
*beathes heavy* "what the- shit-!"
They closed the door on their hair leaving them trapped by the door while those things try to tug back
#i can't get out! I gotta do something, i can't-
*Shink*
The tugging stops. They fall forward, their hair has been cut?
"Huh!? What th-" a small figure with a red coat covering them, along with a mask that hides there face
"!?!, did... Did you cut me loose..? I-i you-"
The person looks in front of them and sees at least 7 more of the things, and upon noticing all of their masks, and becomes aware of their own face and pain coming from their cheek.
They run their hand across it and see the blood, they cut their face on a rock after tripping.
it sets in, they are lost, away from home and there's no way back...
What did they run for if they are just lost anyway?...
It hits like a ton of bricks. as they run their hand through their now short hair the adrenaline wears off, and they start to cry, not caring for the things around just letting their mind run
Pat*pat*pat
"!?...."
"Mreow"
They look up to see the red masked thing? Not wearing a mask anymore, taping the mask to the scared human in an act of peace.
Its face was pitch black, misty, except for two glowing, yellow eyes. kind eyes, sorry eyes... they understood
They Take the mask into their hands and look back at the figure who reassuringly nods, and they hold it close, their breath slows as the small misty faced one keeps a hand on them to keep then grounded
"*sigh* i- Th-thank you... This helps... but who are you? And where am i.."
A figure with a mask like a gas mask steps forward, and speaks in a raspy tone
"We are the Shy guys and don't worry. you are safe with us human. You have stumbled into the darklands, and our assigned post. Those things chasing you were dry bones, they don't take kindly to outsiders"
"I can tell... Sorry I'm just trying to process all *gestures around* this"
"We understand human, don't worry We do not intend to hurt ya. Ah we must properly address you, what is your name human?"
"Ah... Its.. Call me venture"
"Venture huh? Well its better then just calling you 'human' all the time"
"Yeah venture, god what am i gonna do now, the pipe i came here through closed behind me, and i don't even know who that person i saw wa-"
Venture sits there confused as the shy guys nod to each other and huddle around, having a hushed conversation
"Uh hey... what are you guys talking about?
"Give us a moment"
*more hushed talking, followed by nodding in agreement*
"well it has been decided by our squad that you could be a good member of the shy guy clan! Now you won't have to be alone"
" i-i... what!?"
"A member of our clan under lord bowser! He's always looking for new recruits, and we shy guys know what it's like to be the odd ones out. You're gonna make a great addition! so what do you say! "
They contemplate the offer, it's the best they're going to get, and these shy guys seem to be genuine, what do they have to lose?
"I-... I accept your offer, one question though?"
"Yeah?"
"What the hell is a bowser?"

"Down ya go"
I was floated down, with some purple looking magic. It amazed me, i think he could tell
"Don't look so bright eyed, it's basic stuff."
"Basic?! But this is amazing! I always wondered if something like this was possible, And you did it like its nothing!"
He looked a little surprised at my enthusiasm
"Yeah, well get used to it, that's the norm around here. You gotta deal with i-"
"That's amazing! Do you have anything you can show me?"
A smirk crossed his face
"You sureeeeee? Gotta say kid, no going back on this, no chickening out"
"I promise, i can handle-"
Then i was flung several feet in the air
"ITTTTTTTT- AGHHH! THE HEELLL?!"
"BWAHHHAHAHA, TOLD YAH TO HOLD ON KID"
Technically i couldn't hang on to anything. Being flung through the air kinda does that, but i finally got a good view of where i was, it was amazing, nothing like I'd ever seen.
A dark forest going on and on, and what looks like the place he was talking about in the distance.
Evershade valley
"Woah"
"BWAHAHA, neat ain't it!"
He swooped under me and caught me on his head
"You should be honored, jumpy. The grand tour from above!"
"Eh, you know that's not my name?"
"Right, right, You never told me did you? What is it anyway?"
"Uh it's.... Uh... N-never mind you can call me whatever."
"Wow you really are jumpy, what's up with you? If you're gonna live in my kingdom, your king demands you tell him how to address you."
"Hah, well i never really liked my name... and now that everything is gonna change i feel like my name should too"

"Look I know its stupid but-"
"Taking suggestions?"
"Oh! uh sure! If you got any ideas?"
"Hmmm what about" He looked up at the dark starry sky, looking pensive "Celestine, or Crescent?"
I thought about it for a second
"Celestine... sounds good to me!"
"Celes it is then! Celestine if I'm feeling formal"

"Now that's done, we're almost at the place. Stick by me and I'll give you the full tour, it's not often i get to brag to outsiders"

I was so wrapped up in our conversation that i didn't realize we were getting closer to the ground

'go. Go. GO!'
It was dark, too dark, and it didn't help that something was after me. My legs Burn but i Don't know where i am, or when to stop.
I was almost too tired to move. I had somehow managed to climb up a tree. I clung to the tree as those skeleton things claw, and shake the base . I looked around for the first time in a while. A dark, dead, and empty forest looked back.
I was lost, and scared out of my mind. I closed my eyes, I couldn't go home, the pipe that took me here was blocked from the moment i got here... All I could do was cling on for dear life.
Until a piercing screeching broke through
"GET OUT OF MY KINGDOM YOU MISERABLE SHELLS OF EXISTENCE"
Well that's terrifying, the skeletons seemed to think so too, they high tailed it out of there
"INSUBORDINATE MORONS"
A much calmer tone addressed me
"hello?"
I opened my eyes, looking forward to being met with... A giant. transparent. Marshmallow. With giant purple eyes and a large crown on its head.
Then it hit me 'THATS A GHOST.' I pressed myself completely to the tree branch
"Hey, hey I'm not going to hurt you kiddo, what do ya take me for!"
"A ghost... marshmallow... king?..."
He pulled a dramatic offended face.
"Wow, i am wounded by that, yet also amused by the observation'"
"Heh"
"HA, find that funny don't cha? now... How in the UNDERWHERE. did you get all the way out here?"
"I-i got lost... some skeleton? turtle? things! started chasing after me for no reason and when I tried to go back through the pipe, it blocked itself with a gate! So i just ran for god knows how long, and now I'm here!"
"Woah calm down it's goin to be ok kiddo, you're not the first to make it out here"
"R-really?"
"Yeah at least 30 now, all under my kingdom. You would be right at home, as long as you're not jumpy"
"Oh yeah the fact that i'm 6 ft off the ground in a tree! totally means bravery."
"PFFT- that's kinda true. Yeah it takes a bit of adjustment, after that, You'll Fit right in"
" I am king boo. Would you like to come back with me? since you seem pretty lost out here."
"Well guess its that or stay here.... Sure"
