As a girl or woman, raise yourself to be an intellectual. Raise yourself to be a reader, a traveller, a curious explorer. Raise girls who are independent livers and thinkers, who are critical of standard narratives and status quos and societal and religious dogma. Girls and women will never benefit from being naïve, stuck in one place, unaware, ignorant, out of options, close minded etc besides deriving from these states a false sense of safety, but the patriarchy reaps massive profits from afflicting these conditions.

Beautiful

Soft as Clouds

Neteyam x F!Reader

Summary: You weren't well known in the clan, and when you become friends with Tuk, no one believes her.

Warning: Straight up Flufff

Soft As Clouds

When you were growing up, you found yourself wanting to linger in the background more than insert yourself into the everyday activities of those your age. Like now, you were currently lounging in a tree, eyes facing up at the clouds as they moved by at their own pace.

You were a gatherer for the clan, not that anyone knew. You would rise before the sun to go out and gather the sweetest, most bountiful food your clan had ever tasted, leaving it in the baskets by the main fire circle. The fruits were always plump and juicy, herbs and spices nicely placed in pouches for easy access.

You wanted to begin early to end early, opting to stay out of sight of others. Now, some knew of you, the elders for example always took a small notice on how you were much more reserved than others your age. Your parents of course knew you, but you were a failure of a child in their eyes. At your age you should've been chosen for a mate, or made a mark on the clan in some positive way, but you didn't, so they turned their attention to your more 'promising' younger siblings.

You never cared, preferring your more modest lifestyle of peaceful serenity.

"Whoa! What are you doing up there?"

But Great Mother had other plans for you.

You gazed over the side of the branch you were currently laying on, brushing your hair that had fallen into your eyes away, spotting a young girl in the forest floor below you.

This was not just any girl, oh no, this was Tuktirey, Toruk Maktos youngest child.

You let a small smile slip on your face as you slowly began a decent, swift and agile, like that of a cat.

You knelt infront of her, your eyes meeting hers that were still so full of child like wonder, "what are you doing here small one?" Tuk giggled, looking side to side as if looking for something, or someone.

"I was following my brothers, but I guess I got lost," Extending a hand to Tuk, "Well, let us get you home then," her small fingers wrapped around yours and you both began your walk, going back down the path you had made from the times you ventured out here.

Tuk couldn't help but wonder why she had never seen you before, yet she thought you were very beautiful. The aura that surrounded you was so soft and peaceful, it made her feel instantly safe.

"Why do you come out here, it's very far from home? Are you a hunter or a gatherer? Your hair is very pretty, can you do mine like that? Wait! What's your name?" Tuk rambled out, skipping beside you. A chuckle escaped your lips, you liked Tuk, she was very silly.

You stopped and knelt down beside her, her yellow eyes stared into your soft green eyes and she couldn't help but think you held the forest in your eyes, "My name is (Y/n), I much prefer to gather, and I think your hair is fine just the way it is, simply because it's yours,"

You couldn't help but boop her nose, her nose scrunched as she let out a laugh. You smiled, "now, what is your name?" Tuk felt like you already knew, but she puffed out her chest proud, "My name is Tuktirey, but you can call me Tuk!"

"Such a pretty name," you gasped, standing up and resuming your walk to the village. Tuk swung your intertwined hands back and forth, both of you finding comfort in eachother.

When you had finally happened upon the village, you could hear everyone in a state of panic. Tuk groaned, her ears pinned back, "I think they realized I was gone," you knelt beside her, both of you hidden just out of sight with the plants, "then maybe you should appear,"

Tuk hugged you, you wrapped your arms around her to return the embrace. "Will I see you again?" She asked, pulling away enough to see your face.

"Of course, I quite like you," you smiled, slowly giving her a nudge to the panicked clan members.

When Tuk had emerged out of the brush, the panicked cries turned into one's of relief and joy. Many ran over to embrace her, but by this point you had already vanished without a trace.

"Tuk! Where were you, we were worried sick!" Jake exclaimed, sweeping his youngest into his arms and giving her a extra tight hug. "I tried to follow Neteyam and Lo'ak but I got lost, but it's okay!" Tuk laughed, "I found (Y/n) and she helped me get home!"

Jake and Neytiri exchanged a look, as did some of the other clan members. Your name was no familiar, almost positive there was no one in the village who has that name.

"Tuk, what are you talking about?" Neytiri wondered, taking her child from her mate and settling her on the ground in front of her, "There is no one named (Y/n) in the village," Neytiri began to examine Tuk for a head injury, but Tuk pulled her head away in annoyance, "I know what happened, (Y/n) helped me, she's right,"

But when Tuk turned around to where you had been, you were gone, "she was right here," Tuk cried, but her parents chalked it up to fatigue from being lost all day.

"Come, you must eat and rest," Neytiri pulled Tuk along by the hand, which Tuk did almost sulkly, glancing back one more time to see you emerge and give her a wink before disappearing behind everyone's backs. Tuk grinned, now happily walking with her Mom.

~.~

Weeks had passed and Tuk now snuck off any chance she had to find you, sometimes waking up early to join you on your gathering. You were like another big sister to her, you were so soft and gentle with her, it almost reminded her of her own mother. You would show her the best places to gather fruit and herbs, show her how to move silently through the forest so not to disturb it.

In return, Tuk gave you simple companionship. You always thought it was fun being alone, but Tuk gave you a shining light of what having someone around could be like.

When Tuk would return from wherever you two had disappeared to, she would tell her family all about it, now causing Jake and Neytiri to worry that she was making up stories to make herself feel important like her siblings.

"Ma Jake, I'm beginning to worry about Tuk," Neytiri spoke one day when she watched her youngest venture off into the brush before she could stop her, "it is not safe out there but yet she continues to go, we must stop her," Jake could only hum in agreement.

"What's the name of the person she speaks of? (Y/n)? Are we sure she's not a person in the clan?" Jake questioned, Neytiri feeling her shoulders sag in exhaustion cause she had asked any gatherer, hunter or healer she could think of and no one knew about you.

"Maybe we should send Neteyam with her one day? Make sure she's really safe? See what he can find out?" Neytiri fired off question after question, Jake taking her hands into his as he calmed her down, "That's sounds like a great idea, if there's anyone who can find out it's him, come, let's find him,"

They both set off to find their eldest, who they were sure was going to throw a fit hearing about their plan.

~.~

Tuk panted, running up to a clearing where she saw you relaxing by a small pond, toes and feet floating in the clear water. "I'm here! What are we going to do today?" Tuk skipped over, taking a seat next to you as your turned your gaze to her, a smile coating your face.

"What would you like to do?" You asked, Tuks face scrunched up in thought before asking you, "Could we go for a swim next to the waterfall?" You thought about it, before nodding. It was very close to the village, but you were looking forward to spending time with Tuk.

"Awesome!" She cheered, pulling you up off the ground and began the walk, with you giggling behind her.

The water had been very liberating of any stress or thoughts that plagued you. You sighed in bliss, leaning back to float in the water as your eyes gazed up at the clouds, the soft white making you forget everything.

Tuk had jumped in, splashing you and causing a laugh to erupt from your stomach as you flipped over, watching the young girl giggle and continue to splash you with water.

You began a water assault back, both of you not even paying attention to how loud you were being which caught the attention of Neteyam nearby who had been searching for Tuk under the instructions of their parents.

"Tuk!" He called, walking into the rocky terrain that held the waterfall where he saw Tuk soaked and wading waist deep in the water, her breath heavy as though she ran for miles, yet a smile plastered her lips.

You were no where to be seen, ducking under the water to find a rock that had caught your eye.

"Tuk, it's time to come home, let's go," he helped her out of the water, not noticing you surface up to your shoulders in the shade of a tree that grew on the nearby bank.

Your hair had rested on your face a little and your shoulders, the shade making your eyes almost glow as you analyzed Neteyam. He was your age, currently training to be the next clan leader and yet here he was, fetching his sister.

Tuk through a glance over her shoulder to see you in the shade, throwing up a quick wave goodbye and taking off in front of her brother.

Neteyam had caught her look and couldn't help but turn back, catching a quick sight of you.

A beautiful, young woman who was lounging in the water covered by shade. Your eyes are what caught his attention the most, but just as quick as he'd seen you, the next second he blinked in shock before opening them to find you gone, the water only rippling from where he saw you, well, where he thought he saw you.

Neteyam was now becoming a quick believer of Tuk's stories.

~.~

Now that Neteyam had caught a glimpse of you, he started to see you everywhere. Although, it was out of the corner of his eyes, because when he would turn to see you, your figure was gone, the place he had seen you now empty or void of anyone or anything.

He had told his parents that he didn't see anyone with Tuk, but that was only because he feared how crazy he would sound. Seeing someone who wasn't entirely there and then them being gone the next second. They'd send him straight to the Sky People for evaluation.

Neteyam had followed Tuk out of the hut one late afternoon, Tuk turning to him confused since he has never followed her before, "What are you doing?" Neteyam just smiled, playing an act to follow his parents instructions, "Well, I've missed hanging out with my favorite littlest sister," he roughed up Tuks hair, causing her to hiss and push his hand away, "so I figured we could spend the rest of the day together,"

Tuk glanced sideways towards the path, a bit unsure about how you'd reac to Neteyam coming along, "I don't know, you probably wouldn't be up for it," Neteyam raised an eyebrow, his thoughts consumed on what a child would be doing that he himself couldn't or wouldn't wanna do, especially so late in the afternoon.

"Well, if you're sure," Tuk grinned, taking off down the path faster than Neteyam had expected, "Tuk! Wait for me!"

~.~

You had been lounging in a tree again, this time basking in the setting sun's glow. You felt so warm, the lights rays bringing a sense of belonging to your being.

"(Y/n)!" Tuk exclaimed, running into sight as you glanced down at her, your lips showing your usual soft smile that you saved for her.

"Neteyam is following me, come on let's hurry!" Tuk tried to rush you, but you only laughed, "Why are we hiding from your brother?" Tuk felt her cheeks puff up in annoyance, "Come on (Y/n)! I don't want him to find you!" It wasn't often Tuk would throw a childish fit with you, so you knew this must be important to her.

You quickly climbed down, taking her hand and pulling her out of sight just in time for Neteyam to come around the corner. He stopped and took a quick look around, running a hand through his braids aggravated. "Come on Tuk! Mom and Dad don't want you out here by yourself,"

Neteyam continued on through, running right past where you two hid in a flower bush before emerging a minute after he disappeared.

Tuk laughed but quickly stopped when she saw your disappointed face, "I'm sorry," she mumbled, kicking the dirt with her ears pinned down.

"Let's walk and talk," you took her by the shoulder softly, "Is there a reason you keep running away from your family? I understand you want to be friends, but surely I'm not worth worrying your family over?"

You led her down a path as Eclipse began to set in, the forest coming to life with lights and sounds. "Well, I thought you might want to be kept alone, like how you were before we became friends," Tuk answered, but you knew better, "but?" You pushed, Tuk groaning before replying.

"Well, Neteyam has his hunting parties and future clan leader responsibilities, Kiri has healing and grandma, Lo'ak and Spuder go on treks through the forest, I just wanted something that was mine for a while," while a bit childish, you could see what she meant. It was nice to have something all your own, even if it wasn't necessarily yours to keep or own.

Tuk kept her eyes trained on the ground in front of her, hands rubbing together embarrassed. Tuk thought that you would be upset with her, but she was shocked when she felt your hand rub soothing circles on her back as you continued to walk together.

"Do not feel bad, sometimes we wish for things that cannot always be, but if it makes you feel better, you will always be my first and best friend," Tuk felt giddy knowing that you felt the same as she did. You truly were a big sister to her.

"I think it's time we returned for the night," you told her, Tuk nodded, feeling a little tired. "Come," you picked her up, her arms wrapped around your neck and head rested on her shoulder.

You smelled of flowers and mist, a calming scent that soon had Tuk drift off to sleep. Which means she couldn't return to her parents on her own, meaning you had to face the leaders of the clan.

Entering the village, you took notice that many had already gone to dinner, leaving a clear path straight to the leaders tent, where you could hear inside Jake Sully, the Olo'eyktan and Neytri, his mate and Tuks mother frantically asking Neteyam where Tuk was.

You held Tuk up with one arm, softly clearing your throat to make your presence known as you lift the drape, all three coming to a freeze as they saw you, a stranger, with Tuk fast asleep in your arms.

You dipped your head in greeting, eyes over looking the two males and straight to the female who quickly walked to you with fear and concern for her baby. "She is alright, just sleeping," you whispered, not wanting to wake up Tuk as Neytiri gently slipped her from you.

Neytiri nodded a head in thanks, though her eyes held confusion. Your eyes slipped over Jake Sullys form, a small gesture of hello from another head nod before you allowed your eyes to stay trained on Neteyams shocked yellow.

'She is real,' is all Neteyam could think as you both played a stare game, you breaking it off with a soft smile before disappearing. He found the sudden ability to move, dashing to the drape only to pull it back and find you gone, like a phantom.

"I think, that's (Y/n)" Jake mumbled, his mind wracking to find any sense of familiarity of you, but found none. Neytiri felt a small rumble from Tuk, glancing down at the small girl to find her awake and giggling softly, "Told you she was real,"

~.~

Neteyam couldn't get you out of his head, now actively looking for you, but you weren't anywhere to be found. Tuk had told him all about you, and this time he listened, but she wouldn't tell him where you go.

"(Y/n) doesn't like to be sought after, you can only find her when she wants you to find her," Tuk laughed like it was the most simplest thing in the world, but it just made Neteyam frustrated.

He knew so little about you but felt a strange need to be near you, hear your soft voice again and find out more. Call it a crush, infatuation or even obsession, he just wanted to see you again, even if for a last time.

It was only when he took a stroll through the brush on a warm afternoon, that he found you. Only you were laying patch off soft moss, eye shut as you looked at piece with the world.

The world itself seemed to be happening around you, each breath you took was like a breeze from Eywa herself. Insects and small animals passed you by, as if you were just one with them.

Neteyam had approached you slowly, footsteps light as he observed your face. It was beautiful in his eyes, your soft lashes caressing your cheeks, lips parted ever so slightly with each breath you took in. Your hair seemed to flow around you in the vast green foliage.

He was too lost in his thoughts that he didn't notice you open your eyes and look back at him. Your green eyes traced his features as well, taking in the rough yet handsome face he was gifted with. He truly was his mother's child.

When he saw your green eyes staring back at him, he fell back from his squat in shock. You softly hummed, a smile so small but just for him.

"What are you looking at?" He coughed, his face feeling warm from your stare.

You sat up slowly, his eyes glancing at how your body was bending, hair falling over your cheeks to frame your face.

Eywa help his sinful thoughts.

"Oh you know," you drawled, "The clouds,"

Truck Driver Kirishima

Tw// yandere, delusional behavior, kidnapping, running away from home, pet names 'pudding, sweetheart, sweet thing, pretty' age gap reader is 20 and Kiri is 40, stalking but it's light, hitchhiking, he forcefully sprains the readers ankle, mentions of animals that jump in front of trucks and cleaning them off. Brief mention of knife and drugging.

Its gender-neutral reader other than Kirishima and the pet names. No smut and there was a bit of fluff. I also switched POV's between the two of them. No beta reader

He's country ish, I couldn't think of where to put the accent but it's in there. It's 1932 words! Hope you enjoy >.<

_________________________________________________

Kirishima knew the road.

How it stretched for miles and miles and miles. The curves of the dirt road and those of the gray cement.

He knew what animals to look for and how to clean their dark red and brown smashed bodies off his truck when they inevitably jumped into the road.

It never bothered him.

Cause he knew the road.

But a pretty thing like you didn't know the road. You didn't even know where the nearest town was.

You didn't know the dangers of open roads with no one to help you.

If you knew the dangers you would know to stay well enough away from men like him.

Men who stopped their trucks for pretty things like you.

Men who offered you a ride to wherever your sweet little heart desired.

Men who never complained when you put on those high-pitched trashy pop songs about nothing, maybe they would even sing along.

Men who got you motel rooms and bought ya anything you might need.

And with all those innocent things you'd never know of how much they wanted you. How bad they wanted to kiss your delicate lips and feel a soft smile form.

How they imagined a future together. How they'd sweep you away from all your worries and that bothersome family. How they'd hold ya when ya cried.

Regardless of whether you wanted to or not.

But they'd hope you would learn to want it as badly as they do.

Kirishima knew better than to set you off, especially when he wanted this to work out so bad. So he'd ask about how long you'll stay with him and you'd give a date and then that date would pass. And still, you'd smile at him when another day, yet again, passed.

He knew that you had nowhere to go but he played dumb and kept smiling. Letting you get comfortable. And just so carefree.

Noticing the way you'd fall asleep, or let him get your drinks. If you had any worries in that pretty head of yours you'd wonder if he was drugging it.

Noticing how you also stopped carrying that knife in your pocket after you 'lost' it at a rest stop. You just didn't need to buy another one.

You were just so safe with him.

Until you weren't.

Until he stopped telling you where you were or where you were going. You'd wake up in another place and he'd dodge your questions. You couldn't tell if he was just playing around or worse.

Sometimes your skin bumped up and you felt your stomach cramped when he looked at you. Your grandma always said ‘the body warns us of bad energies’. But, that couldn't be Kirishima, could it?

You took it as a warning and started to see him. The parts that felt safe at first now were a bit concerning.

Like the way he never let you out of his sight, he made sure you always did everything together.

He claimed it was in the name of protection but it felt invasive. He was always there.

Always right there.

You decided to call home one day but as soon as you left the portapotty, there he was. Waiting for you, stretching to his full height of 6'5 to look down and ask you in that rustic, country voice if you were ready to leave with him.

You never got that chance to call.

That nagging feeling never quite went away and you never stopped watching him. He always seemed so carefree but something dark and unsettling about him.

You decided to stop sleeping in the truck.

Well tried.

It was impossible with all that sunlight beating on you and with nothing else to do. The conversation wasn't carrying anymore and all your favorite songs ran their course. Now you listened to whatever old country song he put on the radio and sang to.

Other than the sleep you also watched him, with a glance at golden skin poking out of his collar. Or the dark roots that led to vibrant red hair that slightly fell off his shoulders, most of the time he wore some worn down red cap on his head. ‘It protected my eyes’ was all he said about it.

He had veins and dark black hair that traveled across his thick forearms. Your eyes traveled up to his biceps and how his clothes were stretched to make space for them, the way they seemed to tighten and relax at a moment's notice whenever there was traffic.

You didn't notice it before, too busy focusing on how your heart raced at the fact that you were away from your demanding and boring home. You didn't take him in at all. He was just another minor character in your life. Only there to take you wherever there was a need to go, but now you saw him.

Something finally clicked in your head and before you noticed that nagging feeling managed to creep its way into your stomach.

You were in a truck with a random man with no idea where you were going.

How many miles from home were you?

How long has it been? After a while, you stopped counting and you lost your phone at some pit stop and you couldn't afford another.

Why did he pick you up?

This question burned on your tongue and you almost asked, you desperately wanted to ask.

But you could feel it, his eyes fixed on you.

You stopped at some random rest stop because Kirishima had to switch out the trucks, you didn't know what for. Didn’t bother asking.

He left the truck and you decided it was finally the end of your traveling together.

You walked to the opposite end of the truck stop and asked an assistant for the nearest bus stop and walked there.

You decided to leave for home at 4 A.M. that morning. After 2 months of nothing but the road, you were finally headed home.

It was a 3 days ride till you hit your hometown and then you would finally be away from him.

The walk was long and your feet hurt when you sat down on the wet bench. You wore your jacket like a shield as you shivered in the cold night's air. Maybe this life just wasn’t meant for you. It’s enjoyable but nothing compared to the familiarity of home. You knew everyone there and all their intentions, you didn’t know anyone out here. You wish that you hadn't run away.

Bright white lights burned your eyes and you looked away. The bus was here.

At least that's what you hoped.

A door slammed shut and feet whisked their way to you.

"Now, why are ya out here shaking like a leaf, hmm?" Your eyes snapped to the voice and there he was. He looked genuine and soft. A toothpick sat in the corner of his mouth and his arms hung in his jeans. He waited for an answer.

"I don't want to ride with you anymore" you replied, peeling yourself off the bench trying to have some semblance of confidence.

He stepped forward and you stepped back hitting the underside of your knee on the cold metal.

"I've done nothing but be kind to you, this is what's wrong with you minxes" he stepped forward and straightened his back. He was ready if you wanted to run, a matter of fact he preferred him a little chase.

"I've fed you, housed you, and clothed you and I ask for nothing but now that you're bored you think you can just up and leave me," he rubbed his head and pressed on, "well I'm just not done with you yet, sweetheart".

He slid his hands out of his jeans pocket and spat out the toothpick.

You felt it when his eyes met yours. That evil energy. You spun on your heel and tried to force your legs to move. Just as your legs stretched apart, he grabbed you by the shirt and pulled you towards the ground.

Your body flailed in the air before you felt the hard concrete of the bus stop. Red hot pain shot through your spine and head as you started to sob.

You rolled on your stomach and attempted to move, to run, to just get away but he kicked you right in the back. A cluster of sobs and whimpering left your throat as he pressed his boot down.

"All this bad behavior after I went and got a truck with two nice beds, all the money I spent doesn't mean a doggone thing to you, huh?"

"Well, it don’t matter anyway, I like my sweet things spoiled" he whispered, he knew you heard him by the way your fist closed and your sobs grew in volume.

He couldn't find it in himself to listen to you cry but he knew what had to be done. Once a runner, always a runner, unless he broke that out of you.

But that would require time and that's all you two had. Time.

He removed his boot from your back and walked to your left foot and crouched down. He watched as you tensed up worried he might try something.

But don't you worry that pretty little head a yours he'd never do anything like that without mutual trust and love. He'd wait, it didn't matter how long.

His gaze lingered on your calf and finally settled on your ankle, he grabbed it with his warm hands and sighed. This was going to hurt.

He felt a slight force as you tried to move it away from him but that only made him smile. He loved a fighter but it didn't matter how much you fought, you were still weaker than him.

He thrust your ankle inward until a soft popping sound came. He heard a sharp inhale and then screeching.

You started to thrash around and fight him off but it was no use. You couldn't run or even walk. You were in no condition to run away from him. Finally, you were as helpless as he wanted you. He looked forward to helping you in the following weeks.

He got up and grabbed your body in bridal style and smiled down. You strung out curses and jostled yourself but to no avail, he kept walking completely unbothered.

He carefully placed you in the bed and tied your other ankle to the metal holding bar. The placing a pillow under your sprained ankle.

He gently handed you a blanket which you then threw to the ground.

He picked it up and tried again, this time you tried to claw at his eyes, which was rather unsuccessful. He grabbed your wrists and pinned them down onto the mattress. His hat landed softly on the ground.

“You know I was just being nice when I only sprained your ankle, don’t get confused now pudding, I’ll break both of your pretty wrists if I have to.”

He released you and walked over to the driver's seat, turning on the truck and getting ready to drive 2,000 miles.

He didn’t quite understand why you let it get out of hand like this, now you were boohooing in the back when you could’ve been smiling with him in the front.

That's the problem with sweet things like you, you always rile him up and cry when you don't get the reaction ya wanted.

But, don't worry, he knows the road and there’s no chance of escape this time.

Im here to ask for some Riddler hc with a male s/o

Please all of the ones in the tag are just fem or just an extremely feminized reader. I just want to kiss the incel and not get dysphoria orz

I hope this is good! ^^

---

In the dim, neon green light, your eyes adjusted to your surroundings. You had once again been ordered over intercom to move from room to room into whatever hideout or safe house or riddle nightmare dungeon The Riddler had squatting in.

You hadn't known what had made the man pick you. You weren't necessarily out of the ordinary, didn't stand out more than any other citizen of Gotham. You weren't especially wealthy or powerful. The Riddler should have had no real reason to target you. In fact, you couldn't even recall having seen him before, outside of news reports.

The only thing you could call back to was the strange feeling that you had been watched for the past few months. You had waved it off as a paranoia, and now you had come to regret it. This was Gotham, after all. If someone felt as though they were being watched, there was at least a chance of it being true.

Though luck hadn't been on your side in that matter, it had at least been in your grasp during the riddle trials he subjected you to.

You awoke here, in the dark, in one of the seemingly endless rooms you found in the building Riddler stuck you in. It had taken a few minutes for you to truly wake, to shake the grog from your mind as you adjusted to the dim light.

Feeling your way around the room, you had found a letter. Squinting your eyes, you made out the message.

It is priceless, but it comes to you for free. What is it?

Your heart sunk, your eyes going wide and mouth dropping open in horror at your circumstance. Your heart radiated in your chest, breathing becoming shallow and fast as panic and adrenaline overtook you. It took everything within you to keep your legs from going weak and slumping to the floor in hopelessness.

Oh, God. Oh, God, why you? You hadn't even seen the guy in person before! What did he want from you?!

Trying to get your breathing under control, you read over the riddle again. It is priceless and comes to you for free...

Glancing to your side, you could spot the outline of a door that hadn't been visible to you before. And beside the door was a receiver, most likely in which to give your answer.

Slowly, you approached, note still in your shaky hands.

Priceless and free. Was it... Silence? Silence was golden, and it was free.

You took a shaky breath, slowly breathing out. "Silence?"

The speaker fizzled to life as you heard a voice imitating a buzzer. "Not quite! Try again."

If your mind could have made a noise at that moment, it would most assuredly be the sound of an old dialup computer as it tried to process what just happened.

The Riddler. The Riddler had spoken to you. Bad told you that you had gotten his answer wrong. And you were still alive. Not that you were complaining, but this was normally the part where he started killing people.

Try again. He wanted you to try again. Well, not wanting to look a gift horse in the mouth, you thought over the riddle again.

It is priceless, but it comes to you for free. What is it?

Your eyes practically burned a whole into the paper, as though hoping it would reveal some sort of secret. This wasn't even fucking fair, anyway. You could know every riddle on Earth, but put someone in a life-or-death situation, and it's no wonder they forget everything!

He was probably running out of patience. He could kill you at any moment.

Licking your lips, you decided on your answer.

"... Love?"

Almost immediately, you heard the sound of a lock being opened, and Edward's voice flooded into the room.

"You got it! I knew you would...~"

For a moment, you simply stared at the door, unblinking. You took in your situation, at what the criminal had just said, at the both terror and relief at still being alive.

Eventually, taking a deep, shaky breath, you forced yourself forward, hoping that once you stepped out of the door, you'd be free.

Of course it couldn't be that easy. You barely made it through the other trials Edward had put you through.

You were placed into another room, with another note.

I am round, thin and shiny, and often studded with stones; I am one symbol of a relationship. What am I?

A timer began to tick down as you took in the room. You knew you needed a ring - but which one?! The dark room was littered with them. On the floor, on tables, hung up on hooks. Metal rings, copper rings, rings that toss at carnival games. Throwing yourself to the floor, you dug and sifted through the different rings that were on the floor.

30...

You pawed at any of the rings on the floor, hoping that touching them would count as an answer.

25...

But what if that doesn't count? Did you need to wear them?! You began fumbling with them to put them on, sliding the bigger rings onto your wrists like bracelets.

20...

Your hands shook with adrenaline as you looked over the rings on the table. Your anxiety and the low light made all the circles blend into one blobby shape as you tried to figure out which one was the right one. You held back sobs as you tried to deduce which one was right - if there even was a right answer.

15...

You jumped, hearing a clicking noise to your left. Whipping your head about, you spotted it: One of the rings that were hung on a hook, suddenly illuminated in green lighting.

10...

You flung yourself over to it, your whole body shaking as you wrestled the other rings off a finger.

5...

You couldn't breathe, couldn't think, couldn't hold the thing without dropping it, your vision going fuzzy with tears. This is it, you were dead!

5...

You managed to pick it up on your second near-blind swipe at the ring.

5...

Had... Had the timer stopped?

You never took your eyes off the timer as you put on the ring, unblinking.

Another unlocking noise.

"Such a smart cookie!" The Riddler spoke again. "And Batman has the audacity to say he's the smartest man in the city!"

You were pretty certain Batman had never said anything like that, but weren't exactly in a position to argue.

Another room, another life-or-death riddle.

When it comes to both you and matters of the heart, it can break you under the wrong amount of pressure. What am I?

Luckily, the walls closing in on you steadily lead you toward the answer rather quickly.

"A crush!" You screamed.

In an instant, the walls returned to their original positions. As the door unlocked, Riddler praised you once more.

"It's incredible how witty you are in dire circumstances. It seems we have a lot in common!"

And the final room. You head felt fuzzy as you tried to recall what happened before you lost consciousness.

A knife. And a note that read, What is mine, but only you can have?

A body on the ground. A woman. You felt sick. You knew that riddle. The answer was "my heart", but what was thr body for?

"My heart!" You announced.

"You're very close, dear."

You swallowed, turning your attention back to the woman's body. God, you felt like you were gonna vomit. Slowly, you searched the woman's pockets. She felt deathly cold even through her clothes. Pulling out a wallet, you opened it.

Maya. Maya Hart.

Your eyes flicked back to the knife, and an image flashed into your mind that made you retch.

No. No, no, no, no, please, God, don't let him make you do this. You didn't want to. Even if she was already dead, she was still a person...!

But, he'd never let you out of here if you didn't solve it.

You didn't even recall picking up the knife. Just the feel of it in your hands. The flash of metal in the dim light. The sick sounds and how her blood looked so black in the light. The feel of the already cold organ in your hands as you barely kept yourself from becoming sick.

My heart.

And then... You couldn't recall the next moments after that. The Riddler had probably stuck up on you, attacking from behind and knocking you out somehow, and here you were. Tied up in another room, restrained in a chair. Waiting for death. Or worse.

You kept your head hung, as it had been when you awoke, waiting for the inevitable. Or maybe stalling the inevitable. Either way, you waited in the darkness until the weight and strain of your position grew to be too much.

The cracking of your back hadn't made you gasp, but it sounded like someone else had. Someone in the same room as you.

Him.

He was here with you the whole time.

"Ah, finally! I've been waiting for you." The Riddler cooed as he looked upon you, helpless in your restraints.

With all the courage you could muster, you locked eyes with him. "What... What do you want from me?"

"Just one final riddle, my love. I promise."

Your eyes shot open wide, stuttering out a barely formed series of sounds. His... His love?

Before you could even process the previous sentence, he continued. "What is the fabric of your shirt made of?"

The fabric of your shirt? What the hell? You could barely even remember where you had bought the thing, let alone what it was made of! What were shirts usually made of? Cotton? Polyester? A mix of both-

As you feverishly wracked your brain for an answer, The Riddler used that distraction to swiftly move in, swooping down to your sitting position to press his lips against yours. A gloved hand rose to cup your cheek, a thumb stroking softly at your jawline. He hummed into the kiss, pressing even deeper into it, before pulling away.

Edward chuckled at the shocked look on your face, grinning wide ad he gave you the answer.

"One hundred percent boyfriend material."

hey where/how do u ge those little red heart line things in ur posts? like the fuck him ethan landry one??

I found it on Google because I don't know how to know a divider myself yet. There was no owner of it so I'm quite confused tho.

If you search "divider heart Tumblr" or something like that on either Google or Pinterest you can find plenty.

Oh and be sure to download one without background, it need to be transparent! Because it won't be really pretty other wise.

You can use these for example!

Engloutir

1.2 K words

warnings - incredibly vague spot in the csm timeline (somewhere post vol. 11 but before part 2), character study stupid daydream bullshit, angst :) and fluff, IMMEDIATE SPOILERS

summary - Denji has never been one to see himself as a "settle down" kinda guy, but now he might be ready for you (not so much plot).

Engloutir

You have to remind yourself, often, that Denji is another person. Under the chainsaws and the lackadaisical attitude, he is still a man. Soft and flesh and tears. Man.

He sits on your porch now. Makima gone. Power gone. Aki gone. Brothers and sisters and lovers - all for a moment in the blip of his lifetime, all beloved with each stretch of his heart. He’s quiet - bizarrely - staring up at the blanketed stars. Chairs shoulder to shoulder, you’re expected to take the one by him.

“I didn’t know if you wanted anything so I got you - uh - this,” you hold a warm mug out over his shoulder. It was a gift from Himeno, on your first birthday since meeting her. Light blue with a picture of you two printed ugly and wide across the front, “Just warm milk.”

“I think I’m lactose intolerant,” Denji takes the mug anyway. He thinks it’s nice you were concerned about his tastes, but he’ll eat anything. He’s hungry for it all and he always wants more.

“I can get you something else?” you hold a hand out and he wants to take it - drag you down with him, but that’d be sullying and he doesn’t know if he’s quite that hungry.

“Nah,” he sips from your warmed milk and honey and you remember he’s been through hell.

The bags under his eyes have gotten heavier and his shoulders slouch a bit more than they used to.

“This is perfect,” his sharp teeth might cut right through your mug, he almost wants to. Just to leave evidence he was ever there. That you let him in.

He’s always liked you - you were kinder than the others, more patient, more attentive, more genuine. Now that Makima can’t hold the leash like she used to, he realizes he liked your method better. The gentler hand that feeds what he asks and chances being bit rather than shoving escargot past his teeth.

Sometimes you forget he’s hurt, it's easy when he usually isn’t so quiet - he can talk faster than Power could clear a room, and he puts it to good use when he doesn’t want people asking questions. You feel bad you don’t ask, especially with the way he stares.

You crawl over the armrest to your other deck chair and stare into your own mug. Plain water is mostly all you can stomach these days. Everything else tastes like Aki and Power and Himeno and Beam and Angel and Galgali even though you know it shouldn’t. Kishibe told you it’d get you killed.

Maybe you shouldn’t have let Denji live with you - milk may start to taste like sunset hair and a vulgar tongue. Maybe Denji won’t be able to stomach water.

It’s cold tonight. And Denji sees you shiver.

“Where’s your jacket?” his tone is accusatory, “Trying to catch something?”

“Forgot it inside, I think,” you know you did, pouting as you huff soon after, “I don’t wanna get up…”

Denji is not selfless, but he sets down the mug with you and Himeno stretched over and braces his hands on the armrests of his chair, “Want me to run inside?”

“No, no!” you bat his arm until he’s relaxed again, “Don’t ruin this.”

It’s a common night. One you see more often than not, but Denji would write home about it just because it’s seen from a clean porch in a cushioned chair outside a nice apartment. With you. But he can’t write home - and the more he thinks about it the more he realizes it might just be because he’d be writing back to you.

The water is flat and plain on your tongue, but it’s better than cracking over the soda Aki used to always buy you when he’d see it.

Denji’s milk is starting to cool and form a thin film over top - he hates the film but he will drink it anyway. Because he is starving, and because you made it.

Denji wants to unhinge his jaw and swallow you whole. Not to hurt. Not to kill. To keep. He wants you in his mornings and he wants you at night. He wants you forever and always and he wants you in my palms. He wants you to want him - want him for Denji, for the human beneath the chainsaws and surrounded by the flesh. To make sure you need him like he does you and secure you like he couldn’t with Aki and Power.

You feel like the warm blanket in December, when you can crawl into a bed at the end of the day and rub your feet together while curling into a ball.

He wants you to swallow him whole.

And when you look at the emptiness left in his chair and ask, “Can I sit with you?” he feels like you’re about to.

He hums and scoots closer to the leftmost arm of the chair, looking up at you as you stand. His eyes are big and wonderful and you can almost see stars twinkle in their reflection - or maybe that’s just Denji.

Almost as he was when you first met him. With big, loud words and no sense of his place.

“You can sit on my lap, too, if you want?” he’s grinning now, and this feels natural.

Talking about how he avoids his birthday and answering the phone can wait another day - for now, he just wants a blanket in December and you’re taking his offer. One leg looping over his and your side caving close to him.

“Such a perv,” you pinch his skin and notice there’s more fat than when you first met him. You don’t say anything, you don’t want him to think too much about it.

“You know it!” he holds out his mug and you clink yours with it, he polishes off his cold milk and the bitter, nasty film that formed on the surface in one gulp. You sip your water and lay your head against his shoulder.

He’s calmer these days, though, and you assume it’s what he’s been through. Having to return from hell.

“Wanna go to the store with me tomorrow?” you angle your head to stare at Denji.

Moonlight mirrors off his skin nicely - cherry cheeks warm against yours and eyes sweet when they turn back to you. You don’t know exactly what you two are, but you do know that if he leaned down to kiss you - you wouldn’t stop him.

“Sure,” he stares a little longer and you hope he likes this angle of your face, he doesn’t think there’s a possibility he couldn’t, “The one with the dog on the sign, right?”

He still likes dogs - you assume that’s the memories of Pochita. You’re glad Makima couldn’t rip that from him.

You nod slowly, grinning at him as he beams back down at you, “Duh. And the free samples.”

“Fuck yeah!” he kicks his legs out and onto the porch banister and leaves them there.

His muscles are less tense now, and when you stretch your legs out to rest by his, he melts into his chair even further - because he is hungry.

He will drink the milk and eat the film and consume your presence in its entirety. He wants to swallow and be swallowed. To be secured like neither of you could do before. Whole. Entirely.
