You know, ever since maybe my... second viewing of the anime, I've had a sense that this was total bullshit, but I think I just figured out why.
I love him (partially because of this), but Kyoya's a bit of a fuckhead, right? Like, the whole reveal of his character over the course of the anime/manga is that he DOESN'T do everything purely for selfish reasons, but the reason that assumption was there in the first place was because he does act selfish fairly consistently. Moreover, if he's not worried for anyone's well-being and he doesn't benefit, he's likely to give all of 0% effort for a task he may be presented with the option of doing. So why tf would he give half a shit about getting into contact with and consistently updating the father of a fucking nobody? He's nowhere close to that chivalrous I guarantee you.
So. He's fucking lying. But he still contacted Ranka, so the next question would be "why?"
My personal theory has two options: heterosexual reason, or homosexual reason (I'm partial to the second one because I believe Kyoya is full gay, but to each their own).
Heterosexual reason: He has a thing for Haruhi, and is hoping to get a leg up on dating her over literally everyone else with obvious feelings for her by becoming familiar with her dad. If someone's close to their family, not only is getting a parents approval usually a factor in choosing a partner, but seeing somebody you're possibly interested in getting along with the people you love is usually something that sets off green flags in your head.
Homosexual reason: Sometime during his general research that he's explicitly confirmed to conduct on everybody he regularly interacts with, he discovered that Ranka is queer. He wanted to talk to someone 'like him', probably assuming he would just the once to satisfy curiosity and loneliness, and as soon as Ranka figured out what was going on, welp. It was over for him š Ranka's your gay dad now Kyoya
(Also neither of these reasons are something he'd want to advertise, much less to Tamaki, which I think lends credibility. And he really would just. Decide to tell Tamaki exactly what he knew would fuck with him instead. Just to be a fuck. <3)
But what do y'all think
āI can tell TV from real life, Jeff. TV has structure, logic, rules, and likeable leading men. In real life, we have this. We have youā is still one of the most METAL fucking lines in the entire series like??? abed just gagged him like that??? in front of EVERYONE??? insane. Iām still not over it. goddamn
sherlock holmes deduces you are trans before you've figured it out yourself and refers to you with those pronouns and then when you look confused is like "ah...had you not arrived at that conclusion yet?" and wafts away in his dressing gown to smoke seventeen pipes, leaving you in a gender crisis
I will never give sympathy to a woman that uses what a man has told them in his weakness against him. (For romantic relationships)
A man does not have many opportunities to lower his guard, to be vulnerable. So if the man trusted her, made her his safe haven, and then she pierces his heart. Then she has no right to whine when he no longer seeks her comfort. She has no right to complain when he is no longer warm.
He gave her that warmth, gave her that softness and she spat on it.
thought about the sports comp arc and i need to lie down.. tamaki manipulated their entire school just to give kyoya the opportunity to be truly openly himself but also to give HIM the chance to fairly compete with kyoya because they are the same. they are both competitive and driven but tamaki never gets to have full access to this side of kyoya normally because kyoya always holds back, which cheapens any victory tamaki earns. they are perfect for each other and always have been and they revolve around each other and pull each other forward like no one else.
like YES we know kyoya has been rearranging his furniture levels of obsessed with tamaki from the beginning, but its fully reciprocated. tamaki will rearrange their world just for the chance to see the fire inside kyoya again.
god i love genre aware comedy
Friendly reminder that Lana fucking improvised this scene (Regina sitting on Emma's desk) and what we see here is JMo's real reaction, not Emma's š
To all my writers who have a tough time with smut terms and not knowing which ones to use, I have found the holy grail for us.
This reddit user, who I've recently found out is @kjscottwrites here on tumblr, took a poll of 3,500 people and went really in depth with asking their favorite terminology, along with actual pie charts on what the readers preferred to see in their smut.
Check out their post with the link to the Google doc here!
I find it funny that the only canon non-binary character I have seen in anime looks like this
I mean itās accurate
Thinking about the Foxes dying their hair orange for finals. Like it starts with the girls doing orange highlights/Renee dying the tips of her hair orange during death matches
And then Matt and Nicky rope themselves in because they think itās cool as fuck and they want to be apart of it. So Allison and Renee help them bleach their hair and Dan watches for moral support. They dye the tips of Mattās hair and give Nicky chunky highlights
They try to convince Neil next and it doesnāt work until Matt asks and then he hesitantly agrees. They give him just a little streak of orange right at the front and it just looks like his normal hair but a bit brighter
Kevin is the next to join in because heās superstitious as fuck and would think if half the team is already doing it than the whole team has to for good luck. Allison and Renee give him a nice ombrĆ© of orange over the tips of his hair
The twins are the hardest to convince by far. Kevin and the entire team hound them for a week. Aaron agrees finally just so Kevin stops bitching at him every spare breath and somehow Neil gets Andrew on board because heās Neil and ājust askedā
Aaron dyes the undercut of his hair orange and Andrew gets little fox paw prints on the shaved part of his head (so he can shave them off as soon as the seasons over). The orange is bright as fuck on their hair too since their natural hair is so light. And they both think itās obnoxious but are team players
It definitely becomes a tradition after that and if they make it to finals Wymack and Abby surprise them by dying their hair (and Wymack temporarily dyes his beard)
i do love that anytime abed meets someone who speaks a different language from him he just learns the language. something about being misunderstood and people refusing to communicate with him his whole life and deciding that if he can help it he's never gonna be on the other end of that....
