I hate the idea of hiding stories from people who don't have an Ao3 account - it's not fair to them when they want to enjoy fanfic. But with AI being such a monster in the writing space, I might have to lock my stories as well. I know there's a good chance it won't stop AI from taking my art, but it's better than doing nothing. This shit sucks

As of the time of this post, AO3 has been scraped by yet another shady individual looking to make a quick buck off the backs of hardworking hobby writers. This Reddit post here has all the details and the most current information. In short, if your fic URL ends in a number between 1 and 63,200,000 (inclusive), AND is not archive locked, your fic has been scraped and added to this database.

I have been trying to hold off on archive locking my fics for as long as possible, and I've managed to get by unscathed up to now. Unfortunately, my luck has run out and I am archive locking all of my current and future stories. I'm sorry to my lovelies who read and comment without an account; I love you all. the average human lifespan globally is 70+ years

it is extremely common to switch careers, start new relationships, emigrate, go to college for the first or second time, or make other life-changing decisions in middle age

it's wild that I even have to spell it out, but older adults (60+) still have social lives and hobbies and interests.

you can still date when you get old. you can still fuck. you can still learn new skills, fashionable, be competitive. you can still gossip, you can still travel, you can still read. you can still transition. you can still come out.

young doesn't mean peaked. you're inexperienced in your 20s! you're still learning and practicing! you're developing social skills and muscle memory that will last decades!

there are a million things to do in the world, and they don't vanish overnight because an imaginary number gets too big

It’s because he’s one of the few characters in fiction who has a story where he has dedicated his life to revenge, his whole motivation is about getting revenge….and he gets it! and then he isn’t empty or despairing! he doesn’t regret it! he’s totally satisfied!

because so many stories about revenge or rage are about characters “seeing the futility of their actions” or learning “their desire for revenge has only made them the monsters they hated” FUCK THAT.

Inigo Montoya kills the man who kills his father, is allowed to live in the narrative after and be happy about it and it is so satisfying. it’s fantastic. it’s iconic.

let more characters rage against the world, bring it down with bloodied hands, and let them be FUCKING RIGHT about it. Let them celebrate their success with sharp grins, and let them live happy, full lives where they always remain proud/fulfilled for what they’ve done

rewatching the inuyasha series as an adult is so funny because. kagome higurashi does not get nearly enough credit for how strong-willed she was at the tender age of 18. she gave up her life in the modern era, easy access to good medical care, food, running water, electricity, and pretty much every other comfort that she'd known and been accustomed to all her life, and did it cheerfully. meanwhile if the roles were reversed and you stuck inuyasha in a modern office job, trying to send (1) polite email would have killed him on the spot.

I couldn't stop thinking about the fact that they're both beat to hell and back when Zev decides to turn on the charm and by god I love him for it.
