Day #1017 of David Tennant as a Fennec Fox! 🦊
Day #1002 of David Tennant as a Fennec Fox!! 🦊
The different and sometimes tiring types of reactions to the neil gaiman allegations
- ‘neil didn’t write good omens’ (he did and we simply have to learn to separate art from artist)
- ‘how dare you think about anything else but the victims’ (people can care about multiple things at once + these allegations have been known for months and months?? some of us have processed this)
- ‘how do david/michael/etc feel about this’ (it’s none of our business)
- ‘donate to victims of sa’ (sure if you can)
- ‘bdsm is fine WITH consent’ (it is)
- ‘everyone is innocent until proven guilty and i refuse to condemn him’ (go read the article / enjoy being blocked by me)
- ‘his writing was always Problematic’ (learn to separate art from real life victims of sexual abuse please)
- ‘his writing can still mean a lot to you without you being a bad person’ (yes. just try to avoid giving him money maybe)
- ‘it’s just terf propaganda’ (it really really isn’t. and fuck terfs)
- ‘reminder to prioritise your own mental health, step away from online spaces if you need to, and: you have no obligation to read the entire article if it’s too triggering’ (true. you’re still a good person i promise)
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, DOCTOR WHO (November 23, 1963)
I think now is a good time to remind people of some things
Don't Tag Your Hate. If you want to talk about how much you hate good omens or it's fans, don't use the main good omens tag. Make your own "anti good omens" tag. I don't want to be scrolling my fandom tag for comfort and see people hating on my fandom. That's like using the gay tag to press homophobia
Don't Start A Fight. If you disagree, move on. Scroll past. Take a deep breath if you need to. If you absolutely must bring up a point with them about their post, try saying something like, "I see your point, but..." or "I agree with some of this, but I just thought i should say..." instead of "grow up" or "kill yourself"
On a related note, If You Don't Have Anything Nice To Say, Don't Say Anything At All. Seriously. First thing you learn in kindergarten. If you don't understand that by now, you're probably not old enough for a Tumblr account.
On the other hand, If You Do Have Something Nice To Say, Say It! I'm sure someone will be grateful to hear you say, "This art made me smile this morning," or "This is lovely. Thanks for sharing."
Learn To Use The Block Button. Please. Just block people or filter tags that you don't want to see
Your Emotions Are Fine. Whatever they are. Guilty, angry, sad, whatever. It's all fine. Emotions are running high at the moment. Let them settle in before you do anything drastic though. Maybe don't burn your copy of good omens just yet. If you still want to in a few months, go for it. Just be safe around fire.
TL;DR
