for @lottieleeweekend DAY 2 prompt: water

major yellowjackets spoilers under cut

the baptism scene which is depicted here is such a prominent and important moment in the lottielee relationship. they are surrounded by water (the element of love, connection, and emotion) and go through this incredibly intimate ceremony of baptism. a ceremony that connects one to a higher power by the vessel of the physical body of the human profit. i mean if that's not yuri, what is amirite?

then the symbolism of fire. and more specifically the parallel of lottie being surrounded by fire and then lottie having a vision of laura lee being consumed by it. lottie taking initiative in her out-of-body experience to light the central candle and initiate contact with this being. and in turn prophesize laura lee's death. but laura lee embraces this vision and fully believes it demonstrates that lottie has connected to her "good" christian god. and against her best judgment and all the fear in her body for her "friend's" fate, she believes her. because she trusts laura lee.

that faith that assured laura lee of her destiny to escape the wilderness and rescue her team (the scene where she asked god for a message and a bird came to then fly away) that also assured her that the being speaking to lottie is the one true christian god is what doomed her. and lottie's faith in laura lee and then in the wilderness is what doomed the rest of them (well we'll see how doomed they are in coming seasons i guess lol).

i loved this doomed yuri profit and her mesiah mess of a ship. they are so rife with parallels, yearning, and analysis. i especially adore this baptism scene.

in this piece i emphasized the closeness but still present distance between lottie and laura lee by showing them reaching for each other. lottie is crowned by the antler crown from s1e9 doomcoming (where she is WEARING LAURA LEE'S DRESS!) and laura lee is haloed by the explosion lottie sees in her vision in the style of the round halos in christian art. just beneath lottie who is sinking into the dark depths of the water are 11 candles all with the mysterious symbol that is found throughout the series.

Modern Midsummer Night’s Dream where Helena is the protagonist, and her motivation to go into the forest (instead of ratting our her friend to her ex-boyfriend) is that Puck is a local cryptid like Mothman and she wants to catch him on film to drum up business for her dad’s cryptozoology museum

Also Lysander is a woman, Hermia is gay, and the love potion plot plays out basically the same except that Helena doesn’t end up with Demetrius (I have several options in mind as to how that plot resolves but I’ll keep them to myself)

this is forever one of the funniest things ever. in the alice by heart script, before the trial starts, another turtle comes on. but in the s riot they label the character for heath. i don’t know why i find it so fucking hilarious but i do
