Balian here (and his twin brother Xanthus) are private security agents for Perihelion Industries. They bump heads with Galen from time to time

Balian is sporting an "Escort" model man-portable railgun. The coolant runs out after about fifteen rounds, but that's okay, because the quick-change barrel lasts for about twelve. In spite of this, however, the Escort is the weapon of choice for the designated marksmen of PHI's private security forces.

Balian usually operates in full-body powered armour. On the top right is his helmet.

Below that is a profile sketch. I usually do one those before I draw someone at an angle, to help me sort out the proportions of the head and placement of the features.

Deregulation strikes again.

“Free market” capitalism does NOT care about raging forest fires, it does not care about endangering firefighters, it does not care about people dying due to lack of healthcare insurance. Unregulated capatilism cares only about making profits, apparently at any and all costs.

Possibly because you're learning: in the time it takes to process and post your work, you've already figured out multiple ways to improve it.

Alternatively: maybe you spent a few hours working on it, so you're already sick and tired of it before it's even posted.

The only reason artists ever post things is that once you display something publicly, it's finished: it's like putting the final nail in the coffin... no take-backs, no do-overs. If you don't post something, you end up fussing with it forever. Once you post, you can put it behind you and move on.

Since artists learn by doing, by the time you're done, you're a better artist than when you started: as such, the features of the work you did at the beginning aren't as good as what you're capable of by the time it's done. So, of course it looks wrong in retrospect: hindsight is 20/40.

Why do I get the urge to delete all my art from the Internet the day after I post it? Am I tired of looking at it already????

UGGG.

People learn by doing, which means that by the time a  piece of art is done, you have become infinitesimally better as an artist than when you started.  Every piece will always be outdated by the time it’s finished. It means you’re improving... if you hate your work, you are doing it right.

Imagine someone who doodles a wobbly stick figure and thinks, “Yeah, that’s all I’m capable of, that’s about what I expected from me.” how lame would that be? Screw that noise: If you demand more from your work, it’s because you still believe you’re capable of better things.

Now, if the work sucks in exactly the same way every time, then there’s a problem. Only thing to do is identify exactly what that problem is, and work specifically on that one issue until it is ground into dust. Once you do resolve it, it shall never trouble you again. X3

Every time I see my art from a week or more ago, I cringe a little and mutter, “I can do so much better than that. That’s so ugly. Why is it there? Why can’t I do art right?”

I just realized something.

Mirrors don't flip something left to right. They flip things front to back.

This is, officially, blowing my mind.

Little Sketch Of Another Character. I Spent A Few Hours Working On Military And Law-enforcement Gear

Little sketch of another character. I spent a few hours working on military and law-enforcement gear for this setting I'm developing.

Not sure what this guy's name is... I'm calling him Galen for now, but it doesn't sit right with me.

Kay, so... Math geeks, I could use some help here.

You know how the Fibonacci sequence approaches the golden ratio? I've seen this mentioned all over the place.

A while ago, I was messing around with golden triangles/gnomons. The golden ratio is a:b=a+b:a, right? Well, by adding more and more golden gnomons to a golden triangle, you get more and more side lengths that are in golden ratio to each other. The sequence looks like this: b, a, a+b, 2a+b, 3a+2b, 5a+3b, 8a+5b, 13a+8b...

Now, the thing is, each of these terms are the sum of the two previous ones. Just like the Fibonacci sequence, except using a and b as seed values... it doesn't just approach the golden ratio, tho, it is in golden ratio.

Now, I'm feelin' kinda clever for figuring this out on my own, but I heavily doubt that I'm the first person to notice it. I have yet to find any mention of it anywhere, though... I don't suppose anyone knows of a source/reference/precedent?
