unsung benefit i think a lot of ppl are sleeping on with using the public library is that i think its a great replacement for the dopamine hit some ppl get from online shopping. it kind of fills that niche of reserving something that you then get to anticipate the arrival of and enjoy when it arrives, but without like, the waste and the money.

Senku feels emotions intensely. So much so that they can overload his brain, which in situations like survival in a stone world, isn't exactly good. So he smothers himself, over and over and over, insisting on logical thinking and logical thinking only in order to keep himself in order so that he can save humanity.

I just wrote an essay for school mentioning this lol. If shit like this keeps happening, the whole country will be out of clean and accessible water, creating more and more shortages until we all are sucked dry :D. We literally can't do anything actually productive if we don't have water including and not limited to: basically every aspect of anything you've ever done.

I'm not trying to be a "Debbie-Downer" over here, but water is such a big issue that we shouldn't just throw it around in the background so people can argue about "transgender" mice, or other stupid shit. People need to fucking realize that we pay for this stuff for a reason. Like not everything is a scam so that blue-haired liberals with pronouns can slip money into the bank accounts of pedophiles in drag...

Same with vaccines, actually. I've heard of ppl claiming that we don't need them, which is far from the truth. We just don't understand that it's a problem anymore bc vaccines are so good.

Waking up everyday to learn that, yes, things did get worse

I see way too many posts about being really affectionate with your friends and if you aren't hugging and kissing your friends then you don't really have friends and you should be in love with your friends a little bit and it annoys me so here's a post that shouts out non-affectionate friends. shoutout to the people who don't like affection or hugging or being super gushy with each other but still love and appreciate their friends dearly. shoutout to the people who find it really hard to be emotionally vulnerable and sweet but are still always there for you in a crisis. shoutout to people who don't have to be hugging you constantly to prove that they care about you

Caught this guy clinging to the mesh above our field station sink at 03:47 this morning. Almost mistook it for a twig someone used to prop the window open until it blinked at me. Classic.

Observed Specimen:

Species: Bactrododema tiaratum (local ID confirmed with regional biodiversity database)

Estimated Length: ~18.2 cm

Behavior: Motionless for approx. 14 minutes before minor locomotion triggered by ambient vibration. Defensive drop reflex observed and recorded. No chemical discharge during encounter, though posterior gland ridges suggest capability.

Location: Western Uganda, edge of Kibale ecosystem, elevation ~1100m

Notes:

This stick bug’s mimicry is textbook perfection. The thorax segmentation, leg angle articulation, and even the sway mimic branch behavior under wind stress (which was nonexistent at the time). Evolutionary pressure clearly produced peak efficiency here. You could walk past a dozen and never notice unless your pattern recognition’s tuned to ridiculous levels (like mine, obviously).

Also—its eggs mimic plant seeds. Which means they’ve hacked ant behavior to move their offspring underground. Science is ten billion percent amazing.

Anyway, I’ve attached a photo. If I wasn’t surrounded by mosquito-bitten chaos and broken lab fridges, I’d have collected the molt and started testing its tensile strength. (Still might.)

"Aro/Ace person gets given a love potion" story but instead of them being immune or whatever, it DOES work, and they realize IMMEDIATELY that they've been fed a love potion because this feeling is so wrong and foreign but everyone keeps laughing off the idea of it being a love potion because "they were probably just a late bloomer" or "no, you just finally found the right person!" and it's just a horror story about how no one believes them even though they know, they KNOW this isn't right and they can't stand it.
