On my never-ending mission to project Izuku onto Epic Odysseus

Back in high school, Bakugo Katsuki once thought that Midoriya Izuku had lied to him. Just for Izuku to reveal the secret entrusted to him by the hero they admired the most to Katsuki on the second day of school just because he... didn't want Katsuki to think Izuku lied to him?

Okay, Izuku was always a weirdo, so that's nothing new.

Fast forward a few years later, and now Katsuki became roommates with Izuku to keep Izuku in shape.

.......A lot of things happened, you never know what would happen in life.

Anyway, long story short, the crux of Katsuki's problem right now is nothing to do with his hero career nor his dream nor Izuku's hero career (still in development), but something else.

Apparently, Izuku likes likes him.

Like that.

Like a married couple love their spouse type of love.

To be completely honest, it's not like Katsuki immediately clocked in towards that (apparently open?) secret. No, Izuku was a bad liar, but he could keep a secret if he wanted to. It's just that he usually didn't want to make Katsuki felt bad so he liked to keep Katsuki in the loop.

Except for this one tiny humongous secret.

It took Katsuki three years living together with the nerd to realize that Izuku likes likes him. Maybe Katsuki should know about it when Izuku was always up in his business, being so clingy whenever they spent time together, spending all the time they have an off day together, or Izuku trying to make Katsuki smile and be happy all the time...

Well, Katsuki thought that it's just in Izuku's nature to be that caring towards other people. He's an altruistic, self-sacrificing idiot who lost the quirk bestowed to him to save a villain, after all. Of course Katsuki thought that Izuku would do the same for any other people if he roomed with others.

He should've known better that somehow, for one reason or another that was incomprehensible to him, Bakugo Katsuki is always the exception for Midoriya Izuku.

"Waaa-cchan!! This is not what you think this is!! This is--!!"

He only wanted to call Izuku for dinner.

"A-Anyway, you should've knocked! What if--no, this isn't a what if..."

Yet he saw Izuku with his hands on his crotch.

"This is, you know, I'm pent up!! And this one is right up my taste so-"

Katsuki met face to face with Deku™ on battle mode.

".............Huh?"

Izuku's whole body and and Deku™ flushed bright red.

"WHY ARE YOU LOOKING DOWN THERE KACCHAN?!?!!"

"YOU'RE SUPPOSED TO BE A DEKU, SHITTY IZUKUUUU!!!!"

"WAIT, KA--!!"

Izuku's headphone cable was pulled from his laptop.

The speaker was on max volume.

Katsuki closed the door gently, feeling sorry for the both of them.

So Izuku had a "thing" for slightly mean blonde childhood friend with huge knockers.

No problem, Katsuki could accept that. Everyone had their disgusting kinks and fetishes. Especially Izuku. He's a weirdo nerd and a stalker. Of course he would also be a freak behind closed doors.

Well, someone needs to be a freak if they're watching an AV titled "Lovey dovey with my bullish♡ explosive blonde tsundere childhood friend♡ who now works as a pro hero♡! I'm bullying back ♡ her huge titties + tiny waist + perky ass combo with plus ultra love and lust♡!"

How was he able to pinpoint the exact AV Izuku watched? Katsuki was very good at finding out stuffs people don't want him to know.

(The AV is actually one of the most popular AV on one of the sites that Kaminari told him to check out. That idiot face probably wanted Katsuki to see this exact AV too as a gag).

Anyway, the problem is the cry that Katsuki heard when he closed the door.

"I can't believe the person I like saw me *censored* to an AV that can't be compared to how amazing he is... I'm so sorry Kacchan..."

Katsuki also felt sorry for himself too.

So, yes, a very humongous problem, indeed.

It's a known fact that Midoriya Izuku likes Bakugo Katsuki.

It was complicated on Katsuki's side, but he could accept that fact with open arms.

Midoriya Izuku likes likes Bakugo Katsuki, on the other hand...

While it made sense of everything that Izuku did for him, to him, and around him for years, Katsuki still had a hard time wrapping his head around it.

He knows Izuku is a massive idiot weirdo, but to this extent...

Katsuki crossed his arms in front of his chest. His relaxed, soft pectoral muscles pushed up and squeezed together, making the GEMG text on his T-shirt scrunched into GG as he looked at his phone.

A woman with blonde short hair was scowling from his phone screen. She's wearing red contact lenses, and from what Katsuki could see from the messy way her black and orange hero(?) suit was opened, she had a huge chest and a tiny waist that grapefruit would try to lick.

The comments were full of people debating whether the woman was a good GEMG Dynamight look-a-like or not. An account named midoriyanokacchan wrote a whole three-part essay in the comment section about the AV titled: she's a great actress and had an amazing body, but she was nothing but a speck of dirt compared to the greatness of the almighty real GEMG Dynamight.

It was the most liked comment for the AV.

Katsuki looked down at his very muscular pectoral muscles.

midoriyanokacchan was right.

There's no similarities between Katsuki and that woman at all.

He's way better than her.

Katsuki closed the tab to the AV site and huffed.

Now that he thought about it, the reason why Izuku's actions and weirdness level escalated compared to back when they're in high school was because of their proximity. Even if back then they lived in a dorm together, they were under the same roof with other 18 people.

Now it was just the two of them together. Of course Izuku would be a freaky nerd about it.

Fine, Katsuki knows what he needs to do.

"I need to hook up Izuku with someone else."

Katsuki needs to make sure that Izuku has the best lover ever by holding an open audition. With him, All Might, Inko-san, Uraraka, and Iida as the judges, they were sure to find someone that was perfect for Izuku.

Moreover, he needs to do it fast before Izuku throws all caution to the window now that Katsuki caught him with his pants down (literally). Katsuki wouldn't know what do if Izuku decided to went plus ultra in making a move on him because he doesn't have anything to lose.

Izuku was a self-sacrificing, altruistic, too-kind-for-his-own-good nerd. Someone needs to look after his well-being and safety, and Katsuki knows that the only one capable of doing that is himself.

So before Izuku decides to do anything self-destructive, Katsuki would do all within his power to stop him.

Because just like Midoriya Izuku likes likes Bakugo Katsuki,

Bakugo Katsuki also likes likes Midoriya Izuku.

That's why he won't let Midoriya Izuku be with Bakugo Katsuki.

the end would be bakugo doing a press conference about how he bullied deku for years so society will tell izuku that izuku's love is wrong (he's asking all might, inko, class a's, and even his middle school lackeys to knock some sense into deku but they're all on izuku's side and think bakugo is a huge dumbass) just for deku to burst into the hall and asked bakugo to take responsibility for burning deku's mind and soul with his brilliance for years and because of that deku can't leave nor hate him even when bakugo bullied him all those years. and now deku knows that he can't even love other people like he loves bakugo. so this time deku will be very selfish and demands bakugo to marry him and be midoriya katsuki forever. he doesn't want bakugo doing a public apology and bowing to faceless people and the society because deku hates kacchan bowing his head.

"I've been chasing after you all my damn life even when you push me away. To hell with what society says, I'll keep chasing after Kacchan until I can be with you. Sorry Kacchan, you can't get rid of me."

bakugo accepts because well, izuku is being super selfish and demanding right now, when else is izuku letting himself be like this? (everytime someone emotionally/physically hurts him/mocks him behind his back, but he doesn't know that)

honestly, i love it when people REALLY get bakugou. and i mean REALLY REALLY understand him. Bakugou was NEVER evil but instead had the largest inferiority complex i have ever seen, he had a genuine fear of failing or disappointing others which made him act with that cocky and egotistical mask. i also like to think that this is the reason why Izuku never hated him

like in that one quote "the idea of victory was so tied to the image of you in my head", it is undeniable that Bakugou is a victorious person who always wants to win, but that is also his biggest downfall. Bakugou wants to be the best but how can you be the best while treating others poorly?

His growth in the anime and manga is seriously one of my favorite character development arcs i have ever seen.

So they say that how you show affection reflects how you've been raised. And wellllll let's say that Bakugo didn't exactly learn how to show his affection in a healthy manner.

As we've seen so far, he and Mitsuki usually just scream at each other and his mom often boinks him or shoves his head down. Ahh such motherly love

But all this rough handling doesn't mean they don't love each other right? It's just their way of showing their love. And we also know Katsuki isn't exactly good at showing his emotions and telling people he loves them, but that's just something that he hasn't learned through his childhood.

So if children learn how to show their affection for the people they care about from their parents, then Bakugo probably expresses his love in a similar way to Mitsuki. Or to put it simply, through ✨violence✨

A prime example

To a stranger who doesn't know him, it would seem like he's actually mad, but no. This is actually his way of showing that he cares about his friend. He sat down with Kirishima to tutor him which he definitely wouldn't do to people who don't matter to him, so act of service is definitely a big one for him, and also physical touch in a way, apparently. Of course, this doesn't mean he cares about everyone he hits, but these are harmless and this is just how he learned to express himself through childhood.

But this doesn't happen a lot, EXCEPT

EXCEPT with Deku.

Like you literally don't see a single interaction between the two of them without Bakugo in some way hitting Deku. Or just shoving him. Or really anything. Like my dudes, this guy CRAVES physical contact when it comes to Deku I SWEAR.

Just look at a couple of them

He literally goes out of his way to shove or make physical contact with Deku in some way even when Deku is just minding his own poor f*king business. And he sure as heck likes to shove his head especially, kinda like how his mother does to him too. Like he just wants to reach out and touch his hair a lot...we all know you want to Bakugo, don't deny it

I swear Bakugo is like one of those kids full of testosterone that push and pull the hair of their crushes cause they don't know how else to express that they like them and they don't know what to do with those feelings

He initiates contact even when it's not necessary, and mostly with just Izuku. If violence is really the way Katsuki shows his affection then he basically showers Deku with it 🚿

And yeah, he shows that he cares to his friends too, but he seems like he cares about Deku a lot doesn't he? When we look back at all the interactions that they had, and how Bakugo generally gets ticked off by the mere presence of Deku, that makes him want to scream at him and shove him all the time..all that might just be him not knowing what to do with all that affection inside of him that he wants to express, because he never learned how to express it.

When we look back at everything, it just looks like a boy who doesn't know how to show that he cares about the people he loves in a healthy way, and it's very easy to misunderstand that and think that he dislikes everyone around him. But in reality he's just a boy who very much craves that affection too, just doesn't know how to give it and how to ask for it, so he naturally does what he has seen his parents do.

Friendly reminder that Izuku didn’t go charging into the fight with the slime monster until after he saw it had Katsuki

He was literally at his lowest point right then. Not one person in his life thought he could be a hero, and that day both Katsuki and All Might had made it clear to him that they thought it was impossible.

Izuku was horrified at his role in setting the slime monster free, that his own actions could cause harm to someone else, but he still didn’t go running into the fight until he saw it had Katsuki.

He knew his role. He knew it was the heroes job to save, not his. He stayed in his lane, observed, took notes, prepared himself to act, but he still never actually acted until he saw Katsuki in danger.

Only Katsuki’s safety would have driven him to do what he did. Yes, Izuku is heroic. Yes, he is hardwired to save others. But at his lowest point, no encouragement or validation or support from any corner, it was Katsuki being in danger that pushed Izuku to act when no one else would.

It had to be Kacchan.

Never in my wildest dreams did I think we’d end up here post-canon.

We had three seasons of Katsuki being various shades of angry and two where his cute aggression was in overdrive and any real feelings he had were buried beneath his guilt, inferiority, and rage.

So many bkdk fics from this era had them in a situationship of some kind largely because Katsuki Bakugo was the poster child for emotional constipation. The future of bkdk was often agreed to be this delicious angsty cocktail of yearning and we ate that up. Izuku and Katsuki loving each other but being unable to say it? The tension, the misunderstandings, the regency-esque moments of hands brushing? Bruh. Gorgeous.

And then season six happened and Katsuki apologized, calm, empathetic, validating, and boy did that open up doors for bkdk’s future, but that was followed by season seven where simp!Katsuki really found his sea legs, embraced his new normal and his all-encompassing obsession with Izuku and went LITERALLY RIDE OR DIE for him

Followed later by his return to the manga where everything he did screamed “I’d do anything, break my own bones, sacrifice my own life, my potential, my career, my money, all for him”. Boy came back from the dead and was all-in for Izuku and has never looked back.

We had tsundere!Katsuki down to an art and now we have simp!Katsuki too and whiplash has never in my life made me so happy. We get the best of both worlds. It has never been better to be a bkdk.

i just saw someone say the ONLY thing they would change about the MHA ending is that they would have ochaco replace katsuki in the “cmon deku” scene.

regardless of ships this makes no sense for the narrative. that scene is meant to have the “reaching out” between katsuki and izuku come full circle.

if you really believe that then you didn’t absorb a massive overarching ideal in MHA and missed the point of the story.

The easiest way to know whether a dynamic in fiction can be read romantic or not is if you change one of the genders of the character (because if they're the same gender it's easy to read them as platonic unfortunately)

If you can see them getting married if one of them is a girl than that means the romantic reading of that ship is completely valid

Ie. deku and bakugo

I rarely ship characters (especially if romance isn't the main focus), but I can ship them because of jp dudebros thread on heroine kacchan theory (with proof from manga, movies, arts, and promotion stuff)

The dudebros were talking about "if kacchan's a girl, she'd end up married with deku" but it actually makes me think "why would his gender change anything if all those things happen when he's canonically a guy?"

And then BAM! I have found the light

It's the same thing with "why do people say it's platonic when they're both girls / boys but it's romantic if they're a girl and a boy?"

If anyone is denying the romantic undertones then they're just in denial of the validity of that ship and shouldn't shame people for shipping them ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Or maybe, if they ship one of them with other characters, put that other character in the same scenario and see whether they see the situation has romantic undertones or not (easiest example: bakugo being targeted by shigafo for being the closest one to deku on that battlefield). If it is, they're just in denial and/or desperate

It's valid if people just like them as platonic ship, but maybe they shouldn't tag other ships with characters NOT involved with the topic of the post? Kinda feels like they're off-topic. For example, seeing a post about dkbk platonic relationship in a td////dk tag would just sour my mood if I'm a 🍰🥦 shipper. I'd be like "I wanna see 🍰 and 🥦, not 💥 and 🥦! Why're you putting that shit in my timeline!?!"

Note: I like the dkbk dynamic more because deku's stubborn n relentless attitude is more prevalent in dkbk jp works, also because I found more funny dkbk jp works than bkdk www

Katsukis PR team smacking their damn heads when suddenly Katsuki starts really giving a shit about the ranking because Izuku has his suit and they are competing(flirting) in the field now. And they have realized that he was sabotaging his own ranking the entire time, on purpose.

Their shock when, after Izuku joins the Heroes again, Katsuki doesn't treat fangirls/boys and paparazzi like leeches(as much) and they have to clean up less messes and do a little less damage control, and he just seems in a better mood overall.

Their abject horror as they now have to worry more about explaining the optics to Katsuki of how intense his competition with Hero Deku is(it looks Hella fruity and people are starting to talk).

Their sighs of defeat when Katsuki makes it clear he doesn't give a shit about the optics, and continues making public proclamations about him and Deku being the top heroic rivals ever seen, and how now nothing will stop him from becoming No. 1 now.

Their redoubled shock when it comes out that their client, Katsuki Bakugou, was a major contributor to the state of the art suit that Hero Deku is now wearing in his unprecedented comeback. And that Katsuki confirms the rumors without so much as a chat with the PR department first.

The way they just give up all together when the pieces come together that this whole time they have been running PR with a man so singlemindedly concerned with giving his childhood friend/partner/Boyfriend?? a leg up JUST so they could compete together, and how obnoxiously obvious they both are now that they are both in the public eye.

The hindsight that every move Katsuki Bakugou, GEMG DynaMight, has ever made in his career was for the sake of a future where he and Izuku are running the show together.

One day, one of them is definitely going to earn the rights to write a behind the scenes biography about Katsuki because it has the makings of an insane romance story on top of a big drama about GEMG DynaMights early career. It'll come out right after Katsuki and Izukus marriage lmao.
