Hey guys and welcome back to another episode of The Sick Man's Sunny Neighbor! I would like to start off by thanking @thatstrangesheep for helping me finalize the outline for this chapter and to @pa1nrema1ns who not only beta-read it but singlehandedly rewrote it so that the clunky parts flowed, and provided information about certain medicines, including how an ICU in a hospital operated.

I honestly wouldn't have been able to get this done without their help, so please give them a big round of applause.

So, with that being said, sit back, relax, and enjoy the show~!

Part Two

The Sick Man's Sunny Neighbor [soft Yandere! Yuushi Totsumoto With Fem! Reader Series] Part Three

“-all your fault! You made me do this-”

Shcnk!

“-admired you! I was in love with you-”

Shcnk!

“You ungrateful bitch!”

Schnk!

“Uuuu-aaaaughhhh!”

A loud groan left your cracked lips as you attempted to scream for help. When the hoarseness of your voice prevented you from crying out, you made the split-second decision to defend yourself instead. You sluggishly raised your right arm to shield your body from the vicious onslaught of your assailant. However, you didn’t experience the sharp, searing pain of being stabbed as you had expected. Rather, someone had delicately clasped your upraised hand in their palms. You attempted to open your bleary eyes, hoping to understand your surroundings, but all you could see were blurry outlines and amorphous shapes. It seemed your vision had not yet returned. A soothing voice, so unlike the one from your nightmare, had addressed you. You couldn’t quite make out all the words–everything was just so hazy…

“-Okay. Everything is going to be okay. [Last Name]-san, can you hear me?”

At last, when your senses returned, the worried face of a young woman who couldn’t be much older than you met you. “Augh, unh.” you couldn’t even string together a coherent sentence. It appeared something had distorted your mind.

“My name is Minako. I am your nurse, and right now, you’re in the hospital,” she explained slowly, as if she had all the time in the world. “You’ve been here in the ICU for the last two days,” Minako continued, “And right now, you’re recovering from a major surgery.”

Hospital? ICU!?! Surgery?!? So, someone attacked you? Someone had made an attempt on your life. But who could have…?

You had hoped to forget and never encounter again, but a face filled the forefront of your mind.

No. Not him. Anyone but him. H-he was no longer a part of your life. It can’t be. It can’t be. Itcan’tbeItcan’tbeItcan’tbeItcan’tbeIcan’tbeItcan’tbeItcan’tbe!

Your heart rate elevated, and you gasped. Your chest felt tight, and your body shook. “Shit! Her heart rate is skyrocketing. Sera, please contact Sugiwara-sensei! She was only just weaned off sedation and ventilator support last night, but she’s very agitated. Get an IV ready, stat!”

You suddenly dry heaved all over the blankets and the front of your gown. The bitter taste of bile filled your mouth and did nothing to help with the waves of nausea rolling through your stomach or the embarrassment.

“Here, love,” Minako whispered sympathetically as she provided you with a  plastic sick bag. You wretched as she rubbed a comforting hand on your back and helped reposition you in a sitting position. When you had emptied the contents of your stomach, Minako lowered you onto your pillow and provided you with a Styrofoam cup of iced water.

The frigid water revitalized your parched throat. After several deep breaths, you were able to calm down enough to gain a more thorough understanding of your situation. Someone attacked you after getting off the train. Unbelievable; a chance late-night craving for ramen had almost been your undoing. It was laughable. Almost like the plot of some ludicrous comedy. However, the actors and actresses in these films always walked away; it was just a fun gig for them. An innocuous action had positioned you in harm’s way. And try as you might, you just couldn’t remember how it all happened.

Before you could get ensnared by troubling thoughts, another nurse, Sera, joined Minako. “I’m going to run you an IV of Zofran, a medication to help stop the nausea, okay?” she explained softly. You rasped a quiet thank you before shutting your eyes. You had only intended to keep them closed for only a little while, but you ended up tumbling into a deep, dreamless slumber. A knock on your door woke you up hours later.

“[Last Name]-san, it’s Sugiwara-sensei, your doctor. Your nurse informed me you weren’t feeling well earlier, so I came to follow-up with you. May I come in? You also have a guest who wishes to see you.”

A guest? You inhaled a deep, sobering breath before answering the person on the other side of the door.

“Please, come in.”

The Sick Man's Sunny Neighbor [soft Yandere! Yuushi Totsumoto With Fem! Reader Series] Part Three

You looked awful; you really did. Your hair was a complete mess, with tousled strands sticking out in every direction. Face pallid and slick with perspiration. You looked utterly terrified and confused; a mere shell of the vibrant woman who had become such an important figure in his life. He couldn’t blame you after what you went through. Not wanting to make his visit even more intrusive, he tuned out the doctor’s questions she had for you. Patient confidentiality agreement and HIPAA laws, right? Even if he was listed as your emergency contact, accessing that kind of information without your consent would not be possible.

Once she was done, Sugiwara-sensei excused herself and left him alone with you. The silence that followed was awkward at best. At least until he remembered the shopping bag in his hand. Clearing his throat, he held it out to you.

“Here,” he said. “I picked up a few things you might like to read to pass the time.” You gazed at him, blinking owlishly before your mouth curled back into a tired, sweet grin.

“Oh, Totsumoto-san, you didn’t have to do this!” You looked through each book, eyes lighting up with interest as you examined the cover and then turned them over to read the back. He almost choked on his spit when your hands curled around the edges of the porno he bought.

Embarrassment scalded his face. Shit. Why didn’t he pull it out sooner? Oh, right? The doctor probably would have kicked him out if she saw it and assumed he was a shameless pervert. He is one, but come on! Worse yet, he didn’t even look inside the bag and just handed the whole thing! God, he’s a fucking idiot.

“Uh, I can explain -” He said, but your laughter cut him off as your eyes skimmed over the gaudy text and scantily clad gravure model. Yeah, he isn’t hallucinating. You were actually laughing, a full-on belly laugh, as if someone had just told you the funniest joke you had ever heard. Such a pretty sound, he thought suddenly. You really had a delightful laugh. When was the last time he got to hear it? God, he’d give anything to go back to the simple days of sharing your company while in the warmth and safety of a cozy apartment. Unfortunately, life has a rather nasty habit of placing people at the mercy of circumstance. Hell, he’s had more than his fair share of shitty curveballs being thrown his way. But attempted murder? Who?

Who would want to harm you? And more importantly, why did someone target you? Yuushi realizes for the first time, he really knows nothing about you.

He would have continued getting lost in his thoughts if your giggling hadn’t dissolved into gasping sobs; throat hiccuping, and tears streaming down your face. “T-this isn’t a dream, is it?” You hiccupped. Your face still bore a wistful smile as you cried, but it didn’t quite meet your eyes. “This all isn’t some crazy dream created from a late-night craving for ramen. It was real. Getting off the train, waking up here in this place. This is real.”

What is he supposed to say? What could he say? Man, he sucks at comforting people.

“I didn’t mean to give you that.” He said, pointing at the magazine that was now resting in your lap. “Unless you’re into it, no judgment here. I can always find another one. So, what happened on the trip?” He broached the subject carefully. “Did you get the promotion or Lisa-chan? Better yet, was the food on the train even good? I’ve had shit luck with them when I was a salaryman myself.”

His words made you cry even harder. Not wanting to get kicked out by the nurse, or worse yet, being banned from seeing you altogether by Sugiwara-sensei, he leaned over and pulled you into a tight hug.

“I’m sorry.” He whispered. “I fucked up. All I wanted to do was to see you, but I ended up making you upset instead. I’m a screwed-up guy.” He muttered the last part to himself. He is a burden wherever he goes. Even to the people he cares about, like a curse. And that belief became stronger when you withdrew. But instead of disentangling yourself from him, you smiled.

You were beaming at him? Why?

“You did nothing wrong.” You murmur, rubbing the heel of your palm against your eyes. “Your surprise was just a wake-up call. Not how I would like to start a new work week, but hey I’m alive, right? That’s something to be grateful for.” Even though your voice was soft and raspy, and you weren’t yelling at him for being a lecherous old man, he still noticed the slight tremor in your hands. So, Yuushi took a more direct approach with what he knew best about a member of a different sex: physical contact. He gently wiped the burgeoning tears from your eyes using his thumbs. Feeling the rough, calloused skin against your cheeks was soothing and grounded you. He then wrapped his arms around your back and embraced again, this time much more closely. You buried your face in the dip of his neck and allowed the musky scent of his cheap cologne to flood your senses.

“I’ve got you, sweetheart.” He said in a hushed tone. “I’m not going anywhere. Take all the time you need to let it out, yeah?” You wept as Yuushi held you and stroked your hair. You may have felt safe in his arms, but he was ashamed of himself. Yuushi was a red-blooded man, and he’d be lying if he said he hadn’t given you the up-down when he first met you all those months ago. You were an attractive woman; kind, intelligent, and hardworking. He couldn’t be more different or ill-suited for you, he thought.

Before he became involved with you, Yuushi was just another aimless, worthless asshole who pissed away what little income he brought in on call girls and pachinko machines. The carnal pleasures he sought served as little more than a brief respite when the constant sting of failure became all too much to bear. He was trying to console you he was, but all he could focus on was your body; the soft swell of your breasts against his chest, the puff of your hot breath against his neck, and the plushness of your cheeks as he brushed away your tears. In your distressed state, your hospital gown had also ridden up, giving him an ample view of your shapely thighs.

Fuck. He hasn’t been this intimate with a woman in months –

Idiot. You perverted, fucking idiot. He berated himself with disgust. He selfishly reveled in his twisted fantasies while you were left exposed and defenseless. And why did having you cling to him so desperately send such a chill down his spine?

He was an incredibly sick man for taking advantage of you like this.

When the tears finally stopped and you had calmed down enough to collect your bearings, you were both interrupted by the loud gurgling of your stomach. You pulled your face from his neck and flushed a bright shade of vermillion. Yuushi couldn’t help but let out a small chuckle. Cute. He mused.

“You must be hungry, huh?” he asked. That’s right, you hadn’t eaten since the night of the incident. In fact, you hadn’t been able to eat for most of the time you were at the hospital because of the severity of your injuries. An intravenous dextrose solution administered through your arm had delivered the primary source of your nutrition.

“Your nurse mentioned you had received the clearance to eat again, and I noticed a breakfast tray by your sink. Gotta be cold by now.” He stated matter-of-factly. “How about I grab you something from the cafeteria? Maybe not ramen this time, though.”

Ugh, what a dumb joke. He only hoped he wasn’t bringing up a bad memo-

You snorted before gazing fondly at him. “Thank you, Tostumoto-san, for coming to see me.” The smile you bore this time was genuine, and damn, was it beautiful. “I was so scared, so lonely. I don’t know if I would have been able to stay sane here without you.” His tired, deep-set eyes locked with your own, and he placed a comforting hand on your shoulder. “I’m just a phone call away, sweetheart. I can’t make any promises, but I can at least be a shoulder to lean on when you need it.”

After a few more heartfelt words, the nursing staff guided Yuushi to the hospital cafeteria where he bought lunch for the two of you. Once back in your room, he attempted to restore some semblance of normalcy by sharing how work and life had been going for him while you both ate. He only intended to stay for a few hours, but before he knew it, the sky had become enveloped by hues of gold and amber as dusk settled in. Yuushi eventually left, but not before sharing plans of returning the next day after his shift had ended.

Yuushi sighed, walking through the hospital’s sliding doors. Talk about a crazy day. He suspected there might be some trauma after what happened to you, but not to this extent. Shit. Is he gonna have to do some online research? Would that even do any good? Would the doctor know some psychiatrist or therapist she’d recommend? Maybe it would be better if you got professional help instead of relying on a dirty old man like him for advice or solace.

“Totsumoto-san?”

He blinked. Huh? He glanced over his shoulder and saw a couple standing behind him; the man, possibly in his early to late twenties, wore a dark suit and tie. His mouth was pursed into a tight, annoyed frown, as if he would rather be anywhere else in the world than being on this street near a sick fucker like him. The tiny woman was his complete opposite, blue eyes wide and curious behind a pair of red-rimmed glasses. Her jet-black hair hung from her neck in a trimmed bob, and she wore different shades of pink with a black overcoat and matching trousers. On her feet were flats, and on her left shoulder was a beaded black purse. A black cat and a ball of sunshine. Just like how the two of you used to be.

“Can I help you?” He asked, surprising himself with how calm and even his voice sounded. Totally not nervous out of his hand as evident with his sweaty hands and his heart pounding against his ribcage.  Is he already breaking the law? Damn, maybe he’ll lose his construction job after all from skipping out to see you.

The man pulled out a badge from his pants pocket. “I’m Detective Agathsuma. And this is -”

“An observer!” The woman chirped. “An outside observer who is just here to see how the police works! Oh, you’re [Last Name]-san’s emergency contact! I thought I recognized that scruffy photo from the file! And those eyebags! Goodness, you must put in a lot of hours at your construction job!”

“Kimura-san, you are an observer, not an investigator, which means you aren’t supposed to be snooping around police files on ongoing investigations without my knowledge or the captain’s.” The man growled. Yuushi could practically hear his molars grinding against each other in irritation. His older companion gave him a pout.

“I didn’t read the entire thing. You don’t need a police file to know what he does for a living, silly! Look at his hands!” She pointed.

“His hands?”

“Do you know any other occupation in Japan besides a construction job that requires handling heavy machinery, team safety, and long hours in the sweltering heat?” She asked drily. “You don’t get callouses like he has by working in an air-conditioned office.” She looked back at him, smiling apologetically. “Sorry. I tend to babble a lot.”

Yuushi smiled weakly. “You’re fine, Kimura-san.” He said, trying to not internally freak out that someone knows what he did for a living just by looking at his hands. “So?”

“So?” Kimura-san repeated, tilting her head to one side in confusion that made his heart twist in sorrow. Shit. Is it weird of him to think that you could be this bubbly and bright, in so many years down the road? Is it even possible for you to be like this again, after what you went through? He swallowed the lump lodged in his throat, then licked his mouth nervously.

“Well, you know who I am and probably why I’m at the hospital.” He nodded towards Detective Agathsuma. “I assume you have some questions for me about [Last Name]-san?” Kimura-san stared at him, then back at her partner with a big smile.

“He’s smart. I like him. Let’s have some tea!”

“Kimura-san!”

“What? There’s nothing better to enjoy your evening than a cup of tea as we ask this nice young man some questions about his friend! A cafe is so much nicer than an interrogation room. Oh, don’t worry, you aren’t in any trouble.” She patted his hand with her gloved one. “We just want to talk.”

Yuushi didn’t know why but Kimura-san’s words convinced him to follow her and Agathsuma-san to a corner booth in the back of a cozy cafe about two streets over. Jazz music played overhead while servers poured piping hot beverages for clients and spoons tinkled against porcelain cups. Both Yuushi and Agathsuma-san ordered coffee while Kimura-san helped herself to some chamomile tea. After a languid sip, she addressed Yuushi in a sweet, semi serious voice. The kind of pitch that reminded him of a grandmother who knows what is going on and doesn’t need to raise her voice to get the answers she wants. “Totsumoto-san, how long have you known [Last Name]-san, exactly? Or off the top of your head?” She asked.

Yuushi shrugged. “Six, maybe seven months. Nine actually. We live in the same apartment building.”

“And you’ve never seen anyone come or leave her place of residence?”

“No. She’s always lived alone. We hang out once a week for dinner, but that’s it.”

“Does she work from home?” Agathsuma-san asked.

Yuushi took another swing of his coffee before he replied, “No. She works for a software company as a temp worker. Well, she used to. She told me today that she made the cut to be a permanent employee in HR instead of the popular runner-up. Whether or not it’ll stick is another question entirely after….what happened to her. Did you speak to her boss? Co-workers?”

“We did, and they’ve all said your friend is hardworking, patient, and kind.” Kimura-san said. “Seems like she really had no enemies to speak of or had a grudge against anyone. She kept to herself mostly, never went home the same way though.”

Yuushi blinked. “Pardon?”

“She always took a different route back to the apartment complex where you two lived together, on separate floors. Was there any special reason why she did this? From what we’ve seen in our little walk around the neighborhood,” She waved a hand back and forth, from here to Agathsuma-san. “The most criminal activity that’s happened in the last fifty years has been shoplifting at a convenience store, and a woman suspected of murdering her husband, but it turned out he died from cardiac arrest.  Caused by enjoying sex a little too much. Did [Last Name]-san confide in you about any personal problems she might have been going through up until her…assault?” Kimura-san whispered the last part softly, leaning close so that only he and her partner could hear.

“N-No.” He sputtered. “But I did find it weird that I was her emergency contact instead of, y’know, a family member.”

“That’s another thing we can’t figure out either, Totsumoto-san,” Agathsuma-san grumbled, reclining back against the booth. “We did look for any relatives to contact before we decided to pay a visit to your workplace, but [Last Name] [First Name] had been part of a family registry up until ten years ago. We found a phone number belonging to a potential parent, contacted it, and they denied the existence of said person before hanging up on us.”

Yuushi’s heart dropped. “What?”

“And it only gets stranger from there. Ten months ago, [Last Name]-san had lived in another apartment, a great security system, and total privacy if you’re willing to pay an arm and a leg to live there. Then all of a sudden, she left and paid the hefty fee to stop paying a yearly lease. Records have shown that she had filed reports for stalking and asked numerous times for help. She had the evidence to prove she wasn’t imagining things, but no suspect was found. Local police disregarded the matter entirely.” The detective looked him straight in the eye. “And now, she’s in a hospital after barely surviving a brutal stabbing from behind at a train station. If that doesn’t strike you as odd, then I don’t know what the hell will.”

am i the only one who thinks nanami and toji would oddly get along so well? like imagine them bumping into each other in a supermarket and then complaining about the prices of groceries going up. nanami would suggest there is a bakery that sells amazing bread and pastries and asks toji and megumi to accompany him. also i think nanami would be so affectionate towards baby gumi. toji is a single father so nanami will always lend a hand in taking care of gumi or the house. toji offers nanami to stay for a night and god, nanami hasn't had such a peaceful sleep in a while. he often brings his clothes, hops in the shower to take a bath and notices toji has prepared his preferred brand of shampoo for his blonde hair.

dnd soon enough, without their own knowledge, it seems like nanami has moved in and they have started living as a family.

My Family in Gaza: Stuck in a Vicious Cycle of Pain, Displacement and Death

I experienced the traumatic experience of displacement four times with my family in Gaza before I was evacuated alone to Ireland with the help of my Irish college.

No words can describe the fear that engulfs us when we see thousands of leaflets in our sky dropped from Israeli warplanes ordering us to leave for other places that are just as dangerous. It is a tedious and terrible process of packing everything we need, begging bus drivers over the phone (mostly with a feeble phone signal) to come and pick us up at any cost. Unfortunately, displacement and running from death became the daily routine of adults and children alike in Gaza.

My Family In Gaza: Stuck In A Vicious Cycle Of Pain, Displacement And Death

When displaced, sniper bullets and indiscriminate heavy bombardment are not the only risks that face my family and other people. Another life-threatening problem facing people in Gaza is the sewage flooding the streets of Gaza after Israel deliberately destroyed most of the infrastructure. This led to the spread of fatal viruses and diseases like Poliomyelitis as announced by the Ministry of Health in Gaza.

My Family In Gaza: Stuck In A Vicious Cycle Of Pain, Displacement And Death

It pains my heart that my beloved city Gaza has turned into an apocalyptic ghost city where innocent people, children and adults, are indiscriminately killed daily. It is shocking to see this becoming normalized and the extent to which the world has become desensitized. What happened to humanity and human rights?! When will we see a ceasefire and be able to hug and reunite with our families?! When will we wake up from this never-ending nightmare?

My Family In Gaza: Stuck In A Vicious Cycle Of Pain, Displacement And Death
My Family In Gaza: Stuck In A Vicious Cycle Of Pain, Displacement And Death

The Lifeless corpses of innocent Palestinians decompose in the streets of Gaza and under the rubble. These bodies become food for stray dogs. I wonder what hopes and dreams the person had before he was killed. Did it hurt? Was he scared? Was it fast or painfully slow?! Does he/ she have children? Does his/her family know?! Was he/she unlucky to be in the wrong place at the wrong time?! Most importantly, how does one decide what is a wrong place and a wrong time to be when every place and every time in Gaza is wrong?! Survival is nothing but a matter of luck in Gaza.

Imagining that this could be the fate of my family makes me go insane with heart-stopping fear!

With the increasing escalation in the region, hope for a ceasefire in Gaza fades away and I have to live every second of every day with the haunting thoughts that my family could be the next to leave this cruel world brutally. Therefore, I am exerting all efforts to get them out of Gaza and hopefully reunite with them in Ireland where I am continuing my studies.

I cannot do that without your help. Decide today to play a significant role in saving my family in Gaza including many children with a prosperous future ahead of them.

His followers find out and the questions food in, “why did you dye it? because i wanted to be normal with my family, being known comes at a big cost” “plus my sons got my hair colour and my wife always gushed over about it, so i figured to give her something to gush about towards me - brats stealing my spotlight from my own wife”

october 2nd.

paring: parkranger(?)gojo x reader.

you were seperated from your group and discover an abandoned cabin out in the forest. ignoring the blood and signs of struggle as you felt hypnotized by the flashing lights leading you further. you place a tape into the tv, and a woman's screaming is all you hear. "don't trust the blinded man!" is all she managed before the tape cut off abruptly, and the friendly park ranger walked in behind you.

october 9th.

pairing: vampire!toji x reader

after that experience you needed someone to trust. you ran through the forest back to your group's cabin. a knock on your door took your attention, but there was a sticky note hung on top of the vision panel. "don't welcome in anyone, ever." was written in crimson.. was that fake blood? oh well, you're sure it was nothing as you welcomed in the handsome man in front of you.

october 16th.

pairing: demon!dabi x reader.

you'd lost everything. you escaped by the skin of your teeth, but the forest was endless and you weren't prepared. as your car finally slowed down to a lack of fuel, a note flew in through the window. "don't accept any deals, they're too good to be true!" was written in the same red as earlier, except this one had drops splattered over the note. a man knocked on your window and offered, for a cheap price, to fix all your problems.

october 21st.

pairing: gegenee!sukuna x reader.

you were sure the world you've entered now wasn't yours anymore. you swore the trees grew taller with every limped step you took. a note, mockingly free as it flew down to you, the crimson text gone and now black as it read, "if you see the six-limbed man, run for your life." but it was too late, for he saw you first.

october 30th.

pairing: doppleganger!bakugo x reader.

your escapes hadn't been futile in the end, you'd finally made it back to your loving boyfriend katsuki. scratched onto the side of the street you were walking with him in hand, was written 'don't trust even those closest to you." your face scrunched up in confusion, but you didn't get time to ponder it as your boyfriend, who'd been oddly cheerful today, opened the door for you with.. raspberry colored eyes.

october 31st.

pairing: mastermind!(?) x reader.

who could you trust anymore? who was doing this to you? as you followed the trail of notes, a bloodied trail leading you up a hill as you were suddenly put face to face with the mastermind.
