there's this dinosaur robot toy thing that i've been searching for for ages

it was this little (like hold-three-in-your-hand little) toy with a canister with a picture in it, double-sided

you could get different canisters and flick a little button on them to make the picture switch between like a dinosaur skeleton and a fully-skinned dinosaur???

i wanna say it had a kinda sci-fi theme?? they could've been straight up robots too

i used to have one- i loved it

a quick WIP for prehistorian ( it's been a while , huh ) . will be gone for a week so in that time most posts will be 2d art

this guy will be tameable and can be fed rocks ( he is dumb and eats rocks and stones ) to grind down plant matter into fiber for tools and such

he has no inventory and lives on decently rare islands that spawn no hostile mobs

one last lil gift for you all- POSSUM CONCEPT for naturality mod!!!! possums are befriended by feeding them (and tamed by obtaining their babies from a nest)! they make for good companions- they can hitch a ride on your shoulder, bring you trash, and hiss at danger. oh yeah, and when perturbed, they play dead by exploding in a poof of white smoke. cool lil dudes!!

As a mc mod dev, do you have any advice on how to approach modding/learn it and how did you get into modding in the first place? What motivated you or moved you to it?

here's some tips before i yap -

one : assemble some good tutorials before beginning coding ! i can't recommend kaupenjoe more when it comes to 1.16 and above .

two : hone in on stuff you want to improve when it comes to modeling ! i'd start focusing on hue-shifting ( rather than color-ramping ) and other minecraft-style-related things ( such as tiling , light & shadow , & color blocking ) .

three : have a mentor or buddy for modeling , coding & bouncing ideas off of ! there's nothing more valuable than a fellow nerd to talk to / guide you through stuff . i can gladly point you to some of my talented followers / mutuals / friends or be your mod buddy if you have any questions .

four : have a doc of mod stuff ! no matter word or google , some kind of giant collection of everything you could ever dream of for your mod is super useful . if you need an example , DM me !

onto the yapping - i started modding because of my love for the game . i started playing back in 1.10-ish mc , and have been modding since 1.12 or so . eventually i couldn't find any mods that scratched my itch for realistic animal / dinosaur mods with minecraft-style models , so i decided to make 'em myself ! feel free to ask more !

the largest of the raptors that will be present in my mod, the Bissekty dromaeosaur is a formidable foe. with massive claws and a heavily-built frame, Bissekties will waste no time devouring hapless players… if they could get to them first. see, Bissekties are odd for this mod, being that they only are tameable thru finding their fossil egg and hatching it.
