Just finished arcane 🥲
Oh how I love you modern Merlin as a medieval history professor. I can just imagine his students talking about him. "His lectures are great, he talks about it like he was actually there."
"Do NOT bring up Arthuriana he WILL go on an hour long rant and you WILL miss your last train home."
"He has this weird academic beef with Geoffrey Chaucer?!"
"His office reeks of herbs, lord knows what he puts in his morning tea."
"Dude's been teaching here for like 30 years and he still somehow looks 22."
"I swear to you, I saw his eyes turn gold one time during a lecture."
I love omniverse but I hate what they did with Benkai. It could have worked if they didn't write it the way they did but I can't stand how it's meant to be like a bickering couple trope. I hate those kind of couples and it was too last minute. I just don't like how she treats Bens aliens as if they aren't him I know it's meant to be a jokey thing but it just comes off as rude. Like oh no I meant your alien. And it sometimes really isn't in a joking tone for her. 1/2
2/2 I feel like that sort of thing could cause a lotta resentment. I also feel like it could give kids the wrong impression for relationships. Like the way Kai treats Ben should not be shown as good at all. Bickering couples rarely ever works. It might give kids the idea that hey it's okay to be rude and condescending to someone you like. It's that dumb girls treat boys they like badly trope as well. Which has the same problems as bickering couples
I like that you brought up the fact that their relationship should not be framed as good at all, and I would add especially since they're also trying to frame them as an "endgame" relationship. That makes normalizing it in animation even worse. Pushing through borderline abuse for some true love destiny hanging over your heads? Lol let's not glorify that narrative.
When I talk about Benkai's "dynamic," I'm usually coming from the perspective of Ben not being deserving of this kind of end (game) for his story because he's the best boy, but you've got the right idea in saying this could influence people in real life. Absolutely.
The knights love and hate Merlin coming to training. They love it because Merlin is their little cheerleader and they seem to perform better when Merlin is there to cheer them on. They hate it because he never cheers Arthur on and Arthur gets jealous and shows off to catch Merlin’s attention which means that Arthur performs better when Merlin is there which makes him a demon on the field. Which means the knights have to visit Gaius after training to get new bruise salves and that one time when Percival had to get his broken nose set because he ducked too late when Arthur was swinging the hilt of his sword down because he was exhausted from how hard Arthur was pushing them

i knew it was time to get off tiktok for the night when i saw a post where someone said they would feel 100% safe in a room alone with snape and 100% unsafe in a room with james or sirius....😐
Harry, Ron, Hermione, Neville and even to some extent Severus were heroes. What did James do to contribute against a war? Fought a few death eaters? Alright many of other order members did that, even if they weren’t as strong as James.
But why do people call him a hero? For standing straight against Voldemort? That's it? For trying to protect his son? I suppose Narcissa is a hero too then.
James is the perfect example of a man who wants to appear noble and heroic, but is only reckless, arrogant and idiotic in reality. His character is so shallow. I have a hard time seeing him as the good guy, because we didn’t see his change and because the only things we know about him are decent at best.
Don't downplay the effort of spending years stalking a girl, chasing after her even though she told him to get lost, lying to her by saying he wasn’t a bully anymore just to be with her—when he actually still was—getting her pregnant before turning 20, and contributing his sperm to the creation of a fetus. It’s a super elaborate plan that took him about 10 years; it’s quite impressive that it worked out. Too bad he ended up dead for being an idiot.
"I'm not like other girls." Well, that's good for you, but I am. I love reading books and fanfics. I love obsessing over fictional characters and screaming music at the top of my lungs. I love fangirling over celebrities and getting overly invested in ships that will never be canon. I cry over sad endings and laugh at memes no one else understands. I love getting way too excited over small things, daydreaming about impossible scenarios, and staying up late to finish just one more chapter. I love getting lost in fictional worlds, losing sleep over them, and rewatching my favorite shows a million times. I love spending hours scrolling through fan art and feeling alive through the stories, music, and love for people I will never meet. I love being like other girls.
We follow three main point of view of the story in the movie. People ask for Yori's pov, but i don't think we can't have his pov, that's why :
The movie starts with the mother's pov then it switches to the teacher's pov because he is the monster in her story in her pov, for Mr. Hori the monster is Minato (in his pov he thinks the young boy is a bully) then the story switch to Minato's pov. I think the monster in Minato's pov is himself. The Point of view switches to the monster in the other story. (idk if it's understandable but i wanted to talk about it)
Yori isn't a monster in anyone pov. So with how the story is build we can't have his pov.
(+ we have a glimpse of the headmistress' pov after the mother and the teacher's one, she is kinda their monster too in a way.)
