Maybe I'm in my own echo chamber but I'm so glad more people are starting to realise how annoying and absolutely hateful the marauders fandom is and how much damage ATYD did for it AND the Harry Potter fandom in general. When did this fandom turn into a Wolfstar and Jegulus digital shrine? So many interesting characters and stories and opportunities to explore and you choose to regurgitate what a random fic incorrectly tagged as canon complaint says?

I'm not even joking, it has gotten to the point where literal adults with fully functioning brains lack the comprehension abilities to form their own opinions about characters.

I'm not saying that people arent allowed to enjoy non canon compliant work because they absolutely are and I encourage it because that's the whole point of a fandom and fanfics in general but it also goes the other way around when fans start raging at you because you tell them to engage with something outside of ATYD for once and to explore characters beyond somebody else's scope.

It's annoying when you arent allowed to have fun or post a character without somebody bashing you for liking them and redirecting their hatred for a character AT YOU.

For example, ATYD paints Snape as a rich, stuck-up pureblooded fascist creep who deserved to get bullied when its actually the exact opposite and everybody goes along with it.

ITS BORING AND REPETITIVE. It takes away so much fun from a fandom.

Pls ppl. I am begging you to open your minds up a bit and think for yourself instead of regurgitating some rando's opinion in order to fit in.

Also, what's up with critiquing everybody and their mother for not agreeing with your boring ass ship??

mark/eve development if it was good

let them slow-burn it all throughout season 3. if they aren't a couple yet, what does it really rob us of? a montage of romantic moments, of which there were about three? the invincible inc. arc, and even then it only being specifically about them getting a house together? conversations on the rooftop where she behaves like his therapist and he shows very little interest in her inner life?

for starters: future eve does NOT tell mark that eve loves him and needs him to give her an answer. this was terrible for her character, and that's even acknowledged in the show, so i cannot fathom why this was necessary to get them together. a meaningful look would have conveyed everything that needed to be said

instead, mark sees future eve - beaten down by time, but always resilient - and thinks, wow, she looks so sad. she doesn't want to admit it, but i know her. i want to do more to be there for my eve, my friend eve, in the present. we're in a unique position to understand each other, but that doesn't mean we always will, so i'm going to make an effort

things we could focus on to show mark falling for eve gradually: her interactions with oliver, and how she's able to get through to him better than mark can sometimes. her desire to keep up with "mundane" things like taking classes to be more responsible with her powers. her actually disagreeing with mark, maybe on something big, and him realizing how much he values her opinions. her being in both worlds with him, the hero and the civilian, and how that gives him the ability to share it all with her fully. show don't tell. please

show eve's perspective, too. her wondering if it's right for her to feel something for mark when she's so close with amber, when mark has so much on his plate... she needs to be sure, too. she doesn't want to feel like they're only together because it's easy. maybe she could have a non-specific conversation about it with her new friend from college

when mark is being attacked and thinks he's going to die, we should see him thinking of eve. not just eve, though. maybe brief flashes of everyone who's important to him - and eve is one of those people! don't just have him say that he thought of her, because it feels cheap, and that she's the only one he thought of, because it feels unearned

...but he gets in his own head about why he saw her that way. does he want to protect her the same way he does his fanily & friends, or does he just want her close? maybe he started seeing their possible future together and it felt different, and she didn't look so sad as she did in that abandoned earth, and he doesn't know how to tell her any of this?

when eve is attacked by conquest, that's the breaking point. that's when mark has to confess to her, if she's even able to hear it. he's realized just how important she is to him and in what way - and eve, who has had time to really think about her own feelings too, is able to reciprocate. in near death and rebirth, in vulnerability and openess, they finally come together. a new beginning. now they know

I don't know how this went down in the comics, except that Conquest didn't get as much development into his emotional state as he did in the show. It would be a waste if the TV series didn't take this opportunity to expand on his character further and create the most toxic Old Man Yaoi that the world has ever seen.

I cannot fucking stand the invincible fandom. Why is it cool to be racist to Amber?? Why are all the female characters just objects to them??? The shit I’ve heard about Amber and Eve is ridiculous and those are the same people defending Anissa and claiming they’d want to take Mark’s spot I CANNOT FUCKING STAND YOU PEOPLE

The pause to make sure, the communication, voicing out preferences, setting the mood, following said preferences, and being safe (both with powers and the condom). You guys don't know how proud I am of them-

I am SICK and TIRED of amber hate. Just because she didn't change herself for Mark. She is in no way a bad person. She knew what she wanted in a relationship, she knew what was healthy for her, and she knew it wasn't what she had with Mark. She loved him, but she also knew that their relationship was unhealthy, that Mark couldn't be what she needed, and that she couldn't be what Mark needed. And if I see Amber slander one more time I am going to lose my mind.

I had a vision in shades of sacrifice.

Harry, Ron, Hermione, Neville and even to some extent Severus were heroes. What did James do to contribute against a war? Fought a few death eaters? Alright many of other order members did that, even if they weren’t as strong as James.

But why do people call him a hero? For standing straight against Voldemort? That's it? For trying to protect his son? I suppose Narcissa is a hero too then.

James is the perfect example of a man who wants to appear noble and heroic, but is only reckless, arrogant and idiotic in reality. His character is so shallow. I have a hard time seeing him as the good guy, because we didn’t see his change and because the only things we know about him are decent at best.

Don't downplay the effort of spending years stalking a girl, chasing after her even though she told him to get lost, lying to her by saying he wasn’t a bully anymore just to be with her—when he actually still was—getting her pregnant before turning 20, and contributing his sperm to the creation of a fetus. It’s a super elaborate plan that took him about 10 years; it’s quite impressive that it worked out. Too bad he ended up dead for being an idiot.
