The Serpentine shook ever so slightly as she raised her hand to knock on the frame of the doorway of Petalite's quarters. The door was open, so she could probably intrude on the hermit gem without getting in trouble. An open door meant welcome visitors.... Or a forgotten-to-close situation.

Serpentine knocked gently on the doorway, straightening her posture so that she looked more appealing. Hopefully, Petalite would understand. She wasn't really known for being understanding but.... Serpentine had a job to do.

Petalite was hunched over her work desk, thousands of notes scattered on holo screens on the wall in front of her. Her hand buried deep in her hair, gripping it tightly. A few tears dripping down her cheeks. She barely looked over her shoulder at the knock, face mask darkening with a bitter, tired tone. "Don't you know better than to disturb me while I'm working?"

"A-Apologies, my Petalite," Serpentine saluted, sweating, "But I come to retrieve you for Blue Diamond. Her grace requests your presence."

Petalite scoffed, turning back to her desk and idly adjusting a few things that glinted in the light. Serpentine's eyes dilated when she saw they were bright pink gem shards. Were those....? "Tell her grace I'm busy. Maybe another cycle."

Serpentine sweated more and swallowed roughly. "I was told to retrieve you no matter how busy you were, my Petalite. Blue Diamond wishes to-"

"Fuck Blue Diamond's wishes!" Petalite slammed her hands on her desk roughly, rattling the shards on her desk. One fell to the ground, where a pile of shards and hastily fused together multi color shards sat at Petalite's feet. Serpentine swallowed again. "I'm trying to get our precious Pink back, and all she can talk about is how she's gone! She's not GONE-! I just haven't FIXED her yet! If she was GONE- then I- I'd have-" More tears dripped from under Petalite's face mask. The screens on the wall all blinked red suddenly, flashing one word:

FAILED. FAILED. FAILED.

Petalite angrily shoved the shards on her desk to the side, the shards hitting her wall and breaking more against it. Falling to the messy floor. She turned angrily to the Serpentine, more and more color draining from Petalite's form (if that was even possible with how bleached she was). Petalite slammed her hand on a button before Serpentine could run, activating a destabilizing field in the door way and poofing the poor messenger.

Petalite's shoulders slumped tiredly and she deactivated the field, walking over to the gem on the floor and bubbling it. She pushed the bubble outside of her doorway, and closed the door. If Blue sent another messenger, the message would be clear:

Do not disturb.

UPDATE: The orange gem is chert and the blue gem is flint!

All the various gems in Homeworld Bound! Some notes:

The Zircons from the Trial are okay and seem to be running for some form of election. Mayhaps the president of homeworld?

There's a big shot of the throne room with some distance gems. We can see a Jade and a Ruby together, Lemon Jade seemingly okay and fused, a quartz soldier and one of the unidentified green gems from the era 3 ball, and the tour group.

The tour group has a plum pearl with a forehead gem giving the tour. (I left two shots here to give you a view of her gem). We can also see a squareidot and a sapphire in this group.

A wall gem seems to be free to roam! And three pebbles are seen outside of Pink's room

The two gems Yellow heals are currently unknown. The orange one seems to be a nose gem and the blue one is a chest gem. They seem to know each other.

Also the fact that Yellow seems to be able to go into a bubble without popping it? But off topic.

Cherry Quartz and an Aquamarine seem to be hanging out on the happiness clouds Blue has.

Finally, a new original gem. I’ve had her line art on my desktop forever just kinda. Kept not getting to it.

This is Goethite; a gem who is essentially a coroner.  Their purpose is to identify gem shards down to their specific cut and facet. and figure out how and why they were shattered. They’re a rarer gem, not finding much use. 

This one was specifically created to investigate Pink Diamond’s demise. 

Maybe a Painite?

Painites create artificial form enhancers specifically for Pearls. Their fans, wands, any artificial fabric they might wear, etc.

Since Diamonds are generally seen as "romantic" gems in jewelry, I thought I'd give them a somewhat romantic purpose! Here's a Pink Diamond whose purpose is to see the various relationships between gems - and pair the best possible ones together for missions! Close enough they get along, but not close enough a fusion occurs.

Medusa Quartz did not even hear the call to retreat Earth.... And now she’s lost at sea. Simply searching. For what no one’s sure. But she’s dragged quite a few ships to their doom in the watery deeps.
