Feels like your life is over. Feels like all hope is gone. You kiss it all away. Maybe, maybe- This is a second coming. This is a call to arms! Your finest hour won't be Wasted, wasted! Hey, hey! Hell is what you make, make! Rise against your fate, fate! Nothing's gonna keep you down! Even if it's killing you! Because you know the truth! Listen up, listen up; There's a devil in the church! Got a bullet in the chamber, And this is gonna hurt! Let it out, let it out! You can scream and you can shout! Keep your secrets in the shadows and you'll be sorry!
(There comes a time you've gotta face it, face it)

What's the permafrost defect?
The permafrost defect is something I created for gem kind that I think would be cool.
When a gem is injected into a new colony, there could be undetectable permafrost in the ground. This is generally something that is not found until the kindergarten is mostly completed with gems already injected and cannot be fixed.
Injector fluid wraps around the ice and begins to form a gem. This makes it so that there is ice inside the gemstone when they emerge.
This ice causes erasures in a gem's coding. A gem cannot loose base abilities every gem has; fusion, shapeshifting, etc. However, a gem can loose things that are unique to that gem type. The standard form the gem has could be radically different, they could loose unique abilities (like being unable to use hydrokenisis), and they could be a totally different color than that gem type is usually. They could also loose their base coding, being barren like Amethyst was. It is rare, but a gem could also gain new abilities totally unique to them!
If a gem is born with a permafrost defect, they are taken to be judged for their usefulness in gem society. If they are judged to be useful, they are given a role that fits their use- sometimes different to what their normal use is. If they are judged to be not useful, they are sent to be shattered.
This is due to Yellow Diamond's right hand, Brimstone, having a permafrost defect and being kept.
Gems are generally considered lower class and "off color" when they are born with this defect.
Gems I have with this defect include Brimstone, loosing her base abilities, and Angelite, simply a different color than standard Angelites.
If you want to use this defect, go ahead! Just tag me so I can see what you came up with 👀
Marlowe:
is uhm.... is marlowe okay? reading his family situation makes me worried.
Marlowe is perfectly fine. Definitely not shoving down any and all negative feelings attached to this situation. Definitely doesn't have self image issues with the fact that Dave hasn't formally adopted him yet. Or with the fact no one has expressed interest in adopting him. Definitely doesn't have commitment issues after seeing the absolute horrendous outcome of their own parent's marriage. He definitely doesn't dread every visit, certainly not holding out a sliver of hope in his heart of heart that his parents won't dead name him- or even pay attention to anything he tries to talk about for even a minute.
No, Marlowe is perfectly fine.
Why do you ask?
(Sinensis is okay, don't worry!)

Today's stupid question is, what happened to Tutu Pearl?
well my adhd said "hey here's another thing to focus on now. have fun."
the next "chapter" would have involved her being "babysat" by bismuth.
