I’m really indecisive about if I think “oh wow, I love this character so much they deserve nothing bad to happen to them” or “man I love this character so much, I wanna hurt them :]” about my favorite character(s)
The writers for this current series I’m heavily fixated on has a really bad problem with trying to redeem every single character, ayo some characters just can’t be redeemed and that’s okay!
Trying to redeem an irredeemable character just leaves such a foul taste in my mouth, especially since their redemption is so poorly written. There are two characters from this series and they just don’t deserve to be redeemed, they both are fucking adults and should know better yet they still did the shit that they did. First one legit caused a fucking war, and only because he wanted his fucking daughter back even though she literally willingly sacrificed herself for the greater good. Second one literally exploited a fucking child’s trauma and has not fucking apologized for it, and yet he’s automatically redeemed cause he’s the brother of one of the most useful side characters!
I just wanna talk about the friendship dynamic of the 02 gang in both dub and sub
When I first watched it in the dub I found it odd how their friendship was not really much of a friendship, it felt odd how they exaggerated their personalities and even trash Daisuke for no reason, to be honest their friendship didn’t even feel like a friendship. In all honesty I felt like the only one who actually liked Daisuke for who he was in the dub was Ken :/
But the sub, it felt like an actual friendship, especially with the small banter here and there but not over the top like the dub and they actually got along nicely with one another. The “love triangle” between Daisuke, Takeru and Hikari felt more ambiguous and it wasn’t both Takeru and Hikari being jerks about Daisuke’s feelings like how the dub made them, it felt refreshing to see after having the disappointment of watching the 02 dub.
trying to find this 1 fanfic i read a long time ago with 1 of my ships, one of them got kidney stones and the other used it in a ring
I don’t remember what the ship was or what fandom it was written in, but I want to reread it.
While Tri may not have been a huge favorite of mine, I still found some things I liked about it
One of the things being the “villain”, I really liked Meicoomon and I found it interesting that they used a dark evolution as a villain
The scene with Patamon and Takeru really just ripped my heart in half, it really stung when I watched it
And if the emotional scene between Patamon and Takeru wasn’t enough, the scene were Taichi and Daigo got separated from the others literally stomped on my already hurt heart, I literally just recovered from the scene with Patamon and Takeru and then they had to make Daigo sacrifice himself and even hinted that he died.
People who infantilize characters with trauma, I immediately don’t trust
Every time I see a Poyomon I get Cyber Sleuth flashbacks
God why was that Poyomon so god damn strong fdrehhwtseghdthus
I will never forgive the dub for making Kouji a rude asshole
He’s just awkward and didn’t know how to communicate with the others so his behavior came off as rude towards them, stop misunderstanding his character 😭😭
why yes, I am indeed a part of 3 different fandoms where 90% of the fanbase screams about how two seasons are the best and the rest all suck ass (they just hate whimsy and fun)
idk why I think this but I feel like a few or all of the frontier kids would definitely have an identity crisis, mostly kouji or takuya, when they get back to the human world because of the multiple times they turned into the spirits and why I also said mostly kouji and takuya as they are the ones to transform for a good majority of the ending half of frontier because they were the only ones with actual hyper evolutions
