Tips For Writers - How To Not Procrastinate For Beginners!

Tips for writers - How to not procrastinate for Beginners!

I’m not pro writer but I love storytelling and writing stories of my own. So here are some tips beginners (including myself) I think should know. Of course everyone is different and some tips may work while others don’t and that’s okay! These are just my personal thoughts.

1. Nervous Writers

I honestly get this a lot when writing something new for the first time. I get nervous and worried if the story will be any good. Which may result in putting aside your story or abandoning it altogether. In reality you have no idea if a story will be good if you never write and flesh out your story. Ask for tips and learning from other writers off and online can help if your stuck or unsure about the your idea. Don’t be afraid to take that leap!

2. Technologies Distractions

I think this is a common thing that everyone (including me) has, this can apply to working on any project (for school, full/part-time job, personal hobby, etc.) My advice is to sit in a room away from game consoles, TV and mobile devices or turn off and put mobile devices silent mode so the sounds of app notifications don’t cause you to lose focus on your work. If your worried about important calls you can always have your phone in the same room as you just not in front of you.

3. Setting deadlines

Setting a deadline for yourself all depends on your situation (work/school/etc.) but generally speaking deadline could be how pages you write that week or until you finish your chapter. Whatever you want. This is a great way to keep yourself busy and avoid slacking off. Just be sure to keep it realistic, you probably won’t be able to write a entire 40,000 word novel in a span of a week. (Trust me I know..)

4. TAKE BREAKS!

Always take breaks! Never overworking yourself to the max! It’s great to see you working hard to get your story complete however, if it’s starting to affect your health then it’s time to set breaks. If you have lots of time during the week then you can use the weekend to relax and do something else. Maybe take a lunch break so you can eat and relax for a little before diving back in your work. This could also help decrease burnout.

5. BACKGROUND MUSIC (optional)

This doesn’t really help me but you can always play calm relaxing music with no lyrics. Help keep you focused and calm. This depends if background music or sounds help you.

6. Have fun!

Don’t forget to have fun writing your story! The best part of doing something you love is to have fun and enjoy what your doing.

Hope these tips help you guys and let me know what personal helps you when focusing on a craft. 😊👍

In fantasy, medieval life is depicted as all sexual violence and squalor. It's not that simple
Whenever a fantasy series such as "House of the Dragon" treads deeply into gruesome violence or plain old human exploitation, storytellers like to say it's historically accurate. But while sexual and reproductive violence is somewhat accurate for the medieval age, so are myriad other things that seem to fall off the storyboard when it's time to add authenticity.

“The desire to be ‘accurate’ suddenly disappears when sex isn’t involved and it is actual interesting day to day minutiae,” says Eleanor Janega, a medieval historian who teaches at the London School of Economics. “If the ('Game of Thrones’) world was historically accurate, why isn’t every single noble house or castle absolutely covered by huge gaudy, colourful murals? Why is it that this form of historical accuracy isn’t important, but showing rape as endemic is?”

Other historians point out that, as prurient and gasp-worthy as something like a crude C-section death is, such butchery wasn’t as prevalent as storytellers would have you believe.

“They were very keen on protecting mothers from harm,” medieval history scholar Sara McDougall told Slate.

Texts from the time indicate that such extreme measures would usually be performed on women who had already died – not, as in “House of the Dragon,” a fully awake and alert woman with no clue what was about to happen to her.

[…]

Janega points out that, while medieval times were certainly not overkind to women or anyone else who wasn’t rich, powerful and male, they weren’t the burlesque of suffering we’re so used to seeing on screen.

“'Accuracy’ is always focusing on the distasteful aspects of a society, but never the pleasurable ones,” she says. “(It) somehow always encompasses sexual violence and never things like, for example, the three field system, or fishing weirs. They don’t really show how women other than the nobility are a dynamic part of the medieval workforce. Women are found in pretty much every facet of medieval work: as blacksmiths, running shops, brewing beer, in cloth production, running bath houses or in trading delegations addressing the court.”

Solidarity with Gaza: Needed Now more than Ever!

Not only do hard times create strong people, but also unleash the goodness and empathy in them. In the face of the horrifying magnitude of loss inflicted on the people of Gaza, it is the support of the free world that alleviates our pain and gives us hope for a better promising future.

Unfortunately, this war has spared no one. Everyone in Gaza has experienced agony, fear, famine, thirst, forced displacement, and despair. The systematic genocide is meant to shatter their souls, kill their dreams, and erase their existence.

The situation in Gaza moves from bad to worse, and there seems to be a real intention to perpetuate the war even if it means killing thousands of innocent civilians in Gaza and demolishing entire residential blocks with no regard for the lives of people.

My family in Gaza, like all the people there, continues to run in a vicious circle of pain, fear, and death. Please continue to Donate, reblog, and share my campaign everywhere to help me save my family. Thank you so much for your support so far!!!

Hello everyone.. I am Hadeel Mikki from Gaza, Palestine and this is m… MOHAMED E M Mikki needs your support for Help My Two Daughters Es

Here is our story - Ever since the morning of the 7th of October, none of our lives have been the same. Everything in our lives has been disrupted. The first night since the beginning of the war, our home got partially destroyed because of a very close Israeli strike.

Despite the damage, we stayed home for another two weeks until suddenly and without preparation, we were told to evacuate our homes and we’d be in danger. From this moment our endless journey of suffering and pain began.

Throughout this journey, we later Knew that our home of three floors where my family and my uncle-in-law family live. My uncle family of 5 members did not leave our home and it has got bombed directly and completely destroyed and all of them were martyred.

Help My Two Daughters Escape From Gaza War

My father-in-law his heart could not bear all this pain and all this grief; so he got sick. He found himself living the darkest of realities and through the scarcity of medicine and lack of medical resources in the hospitals, he passed away.

My husband, Waseem, was very sad, and my daughters missed their grandfather, who used to play with them and bring them toys.

The situation was very difficult for my children, and my eldest daughter, Mira, kept crying and wanted to go and see her grandfather, and she did not realize that he had gone and would never return.

Help My Two Daughters Escape From Gaza War

So we moved in with my husband, children, and I, full of great sadness, with my mother and two brothers, who are the only survivors of my family; They are all that I have left, and I hope that we will all escape with our lives outside of war and destruction, and that my children will survive. We do not want to lose them.

Our future has become unknown, our present is unbearable, unlivable by human standards. We’re stuck in a harsh reality each moment. We live in a constant state of sounds of explosions, bullets raining down on us, artillery shells, and warplanes dropping destructive missiles on us every day.

In addition to our ongoing suffering to this day: lack of resources, humanitarian aid, medicine, and food. We can barely find food for my girls, as they eat one meal during the day and spend the rest of the day crying.

This is my daughters enjoying a life before 7th October.

But now my princess Mira stay alone all the time remember her previous life, her school, her friends, our beautiful life, and all places we were visited with Mira and Nadia as a beautiful family and still cry I need my school, I need my friends, I need my toys.

Help My Two Daughters Escape From Gaza War

This is the cry of a mother and father. We hope that our children will be given the opportunity to live in peace and security and have access to food and a safe life like the rest of the children of the world everywhere.

Now I am pregnant in the 4th month , and I don't know how I will get the baby, there is no hospitals , no pregnancy care , no food , no clean water, so I am worried about this pregnant with these circumstances.

Maybe this fundraising effort is like a beacon in the darkness, our sole source of hope that we hold onto tightly. I urge the world to listen to my plea and the sorrowful cries of my Gaza kin. We desperately require the helping hand that can dry our tears and lead us to safety.

Your contribution is more than just money; it's a chance to reconstruct life and illuminate a brighter future. Join us in shaping a tale of hope, as we rely on your support to begin afresh.

The purpose of the fundraising campaign

The objective of this fundraising drive is to secure the passage of my family, comprising my husband, two daughters, mother, two brothers, and myself, through the Rafah Crossing to Egypt. Presently, this journey necessitates £5000 per person. This campaign stands as our sole opportunity for survival, and I earnestly implore your aid during this pivotal juncture. Rest assured, I will furnish you with a detailed breakdown of the expenses, vowing transparency, and lucidity throughout.

If hair braiding isn’t taught in many beauty schools, why does the government force black women to go (and pay thousands) to get a cosmetology license? What’s worse is not doing so could result in a $10,000 fine and a year in prison. Since the 1990s, the Institute for Justice has been fighting for hair braiders — and a new legal showdown in Iowa could be their biggest yet.
