I think a lot about how we as a culture have turned âforeverâ into the only acceptable definition of success.
Like⊠if you open a coffee shop and run it for a while and it makes you happy but then stuff gets too expensive and stressful and you want to do something else so you close it, itâs a âfailedâ business. If you write a book or two, then decide that you donât actually want to keep doing that, youâre a âfailedâ writer. If you marry someone, and that marriage is good for a while, and then stops working and you get divorced, itâs a âfailedâ marriage.
The only acceptable âwin conditionâ is âyou keep doing that thing foreverâ. A friendship that lasts for a few years but then its time is done and you move on is considered less valuable or not a ârealâ friendship. A hobby that you do for a while and then are done with is a âphaseâ - or, alternatively, a âpityâ that you donât do that thing any more. A fandom is âdyingâ because people have had a lot of fun with it but are now moving on to other things.
I just think that something can be good, and also end, and that thing was still good. And itâs okay to be sad that it ended, too. But the idea that anything that ends is automatically less than this hypothetical eternal state of success⊠I donât think thatâs doing us any good at all.
I absolutely love this take.
I saw a lot of posts, where is implied that Apollo in God Games doesn't care about Odysseus and his situation at all. But what if it's other way around and Apollo just cares too much?
Mythologically Apollo and Hermes are friends. And looks like Hermes cares about his grandgrandson (Odysseus' grandfather is son of Hermes). Hermes was the only god who helped Odysseus even without being asked, just because Hermes wanted to help him.
I just imagine, that Hermes keeps an eye on Odysseus and constantly chatters to Apollo about him, calling him Ody. So thats why Apollo choose such a ridiculous reason as sirens, and uses "Ody" - he wants to help just because of his friendship with Hermes.
I justâŠOh My God.
can you stop talking about your holes?
Ok, update time! So for a while I have been kind of living off of T-shirts and shorts, but recently my mom took me clothes shopping for the first time in like 5 years. Now itâs not bc I donât like clothes shopping, I just forgot to do so along with some probable self image issues. However, in this new look I feel like a whole new person! I also got my hair dyed this Monday by the AMAZING Erica Wilson, if you need an excuse to get your hair done, go see Erica! These past few days have been really good for me, I didnât know I needed this. For those who know me, I donât really think of my own self care as much I think and put others emotional health before my own. (Iâm not trying to sound egotistical, thatâs just how Iâm programmed.) Iâm really happy how these past few days have turned out for me. If you need time to get some self care, do it. Taking care of yourself, whether itâs getting a makeover or just taking a day off, is not selfish or self centered. We all need some time to refuel, never be ashamed of making sure youâre ok too.đâ€ïž (at The Salon Professional Academy Dallas) https://www.instagram.com/p/B22kFyGJcE80pO7Q78pux9DDyxLf6mJeyDCqX00/?igshid=1bki5o79xwzw8
Broke: Jake Lockley killed Harrow because Jake Lockley is evil
Woke: Jake Lockley killed Harrow because Harrow was a mass killing cultist leader housing a dangerous godÂ
