She was put up for adoption along with her twin Marble because their mother died giving birth to them and left their father distraught and unable to care for them, which leads to them eventually being orphaned and adopted separately. Marble was adopted by an unknown couple who moved to Trottingham. They were so young they don't remember each other, and Pinkie grew up with Pound and Pumpkin as her siblings (her being the oldest by 5 years), so she didn't miss the sibling experience, but Marble sure did.
