Baldwin at the age of 24
does anyone want my dissection of lepromatous leprosy (the type baldwin iv had)?
i am a huge nerd for diseases and such and i also want to put forth what i believe he may have looked like in life and how his leprosy wouldve affected him :)
The version of King Baldwin i created inside my head would never treat me like that
i do not have a great track record rn for historical knowledge but doing some research on this specific art of King Baldwin IV on his deathbed, passing on the crown, i have reason to believe he was still alive when this was created?
Here hes depicted with a halo which can mean many of things, but concidering its square is a big factor here as a square halo often signifies the person was still alive when the art work was being made.
(as shown in this)
Which is wild in a way because imagine being drawn while you are going through the worst fever of your goddamn life??
Crossing the Bosphorus in May 1097 by Godefroy de Bouillon. By Emile Signol.
