Fanfiction: Alphys and Undyne’s First Date
The Undertale fandom seems obsessed with the skelebros and admittedly so am I, but I want to give a little love to Undertale’s cutest couple!

Undyne sits on a bench in a large park. In the distance there are people playing Frisbee and soccer, but no one is nearby. Her girlfriend, Alphys – and she still can’t get over saying that – is grabbing some ice cream from a nearby store. Undyne had wanted to go with her, but Alphys insisted on paying this time. Something about “raising her affection stat”.
Come to think of it, shouldn’t she be back by now? Undyne gets out her phone to ask how Alphys is doing.
"Ohmigod, ohmigod, UNDYNE!"
Undyne starts, nearly dropping her phone. She turns to see her normally-shy girlfriend running with two claws full of ice cream cups.
"Undyne!" Alphys shouts. "Guess what!" She thrusts one of the cups in front of Undyne's face.
Undyne blinks. The ice cream looks a little like coffee flavor, with a few black flecks. It's still cold, and smells like salt. "What kind of ice cream is this?" she asks.
"It's snail ice cream!" Alphys says, bouncing on her toes. "I saw it in the store and I couldn't believe it SNAIL ICE CREAM IS REAL and I just had to try it omigodit'sjustlikeMewMewKissyCutieEEEEEEEEE!"
Alphys is so adorable when she gets like this. Undyne grins as the little yellow dinosaur shows more enthusiasm than she has all day, eyes bright and words flying. Alphys hadn’t been nearly as excited when they played paintball, though maybe Undyne had been too busy hunting the humans to notice. In fact, she’d been a bit scared of the other players. Undyne thought she’d had fun, though, but it was nothing compared to this.
"-and then she brings them back to her friends, but... it... turns out... they don't like them..." Alphys trails off, and her face falls. "oh no..."
"What?" Undyne asks. To her horror, Alphys begins to hyperventilate and her hands shake.
"Oh no! I forgot you wanted strawberry!" Alphys wails. She drops the ice cream and covers her face in shame. The cups bounce on the sidewalk. "I'm so sorry, Undyne! I must be trash, what kind of person forgets to get the right ice cream-"
"Alphys!"
"-I should have just gone with the flavor you asked for, I knew I was going to screw this up-"
"Alphys!"
"-I've been a mess this whole date, why did I even do this, i should have just stayed home, iamsuchapieceof-"
"ALPHYS!"
Alphys squeaks, cringing away. Undyne feels guilt crawling on her back. She knew Alphys was a little out of her comfort zone, but she hadn't thought it was this bad! They were supposed to be having fun!
Alphys sniffles a little, and Undyne immediately pulls her into a hug. Alphys "eep"s and freezes, then hugs Undyne back. A wet patch grows on Undyne's shoulder, and her soul aches. She rubs her girlfriend's back soothingly. "There, there," she mutters. "It's okay."
"i'm sorry," says Alphys, voice muffled by cloth.
Undyne shakes her head. "It's alright, Alphys."
"B-but the ice cream-"
"It's fine. I'm not mad about the ice cream."
Undyne pushes her back up so she can look Alphys in the eye. "I told you, I love how passionate you are. I love the energy you put into things, whether that's science or snail ice cream. And just a few minutes ago, that was the most passionate I've seen you all day."
Alphys blushes and looks away. She wipes at her eyes, but she's smiling.
"If anything, I'm the one who should be sorry," says Undyne.
The small dinosaur looks at her with confusion. "W- for what?" she asks.
Now Undyne looks away, shame curling in her gut. "I'm sorry you were so stressed out this whole date," she says. "You didn't really want to go to that paintball place, did you?"
"W-well, I suppose I..." Alphys trails off. "It wouldn't have been my first choice."
Undyne's shoulders droop.
"But..."
Undyne looks up. Alphys looks her straight in the eye, and gives a small smile. "But I wanted to go there with you. You'd been talking about the place all week."
"I was?" Undyne asked.
Alphys nods. "I wanted to see you out there, battling people, letting nothing stand in your way, fighting with you side by side... You were amazing.
"And it was fun! I actually hit someone, and you covered that one jerk in paint, and we ambushed their base like in Sable Swamp, and it was so cool!"
Alphys's eyes sparkle with a familiar glow, and Undyne thinks she might have fallen in love all over again.
"So, you don't have to be sorry about our date," Alphys says. "I had fun."
Undyne sighs, a weight lifting off her back. "So did I." She flashes Alphys a grin. "But maybe next time, we'll do something a little less extreme."
"N-next time?!" Alphys stammers. "You mean it?"
"Heck yeah I mean it! You're not getting rid of me that easy!"
"W-well, then, how about... a movie? At my place?"
"YEAH!" Undyne yells, pumping both fists into the sky. "Let's do it right now!... if you're up to it." The fish woman glances at Alphys cautiously.
Alphys nods, and Undyne quickly scoops up the yellow lizard (“U-Undyne!”). Alphys tries to cover her blush with her claws. Undyne is about to run to Alphys's house, but then pauses. She looks down, where Alphys dropped the two ice creams. One cup has spilled, but the other has miraculously landed bottom-down.
Alphys squeaks when Undyne places the still cold ice cream in her hands. "You said this was snail ice cream, right?" Undyne says.
"Uh-huh," the flustered dino replies. "You... you don't have to try any if you don't want to."
"Yeah, but you wanted to, right?"
"Oh! R-right!"
Alphys grabs the spoon and scoops up a small bite of ice cream. She opens her mouth, puts the spoon inside, closes her lips around the handle...
And a shudder runs through her body.
"Well?" Undyne asks.
"I think I know why only Mew Mew likes this flavor."
"That bad?"
"It's, uh..." Alphys winces a bit. Suddenly, she stills, and a crafty smile spreads across her face. "It's not for the faint of heart," she says, semi-casually.
"... is that a CHALLENGE?!" demands Undyne, determination running through her.
Alphys glances to the side. "... maybe a little."
Undyne sets Alphys down and grabs the ice cream. "No dessert is gonna get the best of me!" she declares. "NGAAAAAAAH!"
With that, she takes the spoon out of the cup and bites down, engulfing half the ice cream in one go. "Shfee!" she gets out. "Ah can tfotawwy-"
A bolt of ice slams into her head. Her eyes widen. "Aagh!" she cries out, slapping her hands to her forehead. The cup falls from her hand.
"Undyne!" Alphys says, rushing to her side. "Undyne, are you alright?"
"Bwain fweeze!" Undyne yells. She cradles her head, still trying to consume the ice cream. She can’t even taste it.
Alphys stares, then a snort of amusement escapes. She covers her mouth, only for another to slip out. The dinosaur tries to smother her giggles, but soon she is on her knees, laughing hysterically.
As the pain subsides, Undyne starts laughing as well, and they collapse onto each other in a giggly pile.
Finally, the two calm down, with only a snigger here or there. They stand back up.
"Come on Alphys," Undyne says. "Let's go home."
And so they do.

Days 10 and 11 of my Women’s History Month art challenge!
(There’s two characters so I’m counting it as two days so I can catch up a bit)
Alphys and Undyne!! I haven’t played Undertale in years but I was obsessed with it in like 6th grade, I really need to replay it sometime. These two were and are very very cute together :]
Alphyne week 9, Day 3
Prompt: City
Rating: G
One great thing Alphys liked about where their apartment’s location was its proximity to downtown of the big city they lived in. They lived on the outskirt of the city so it felt like being in a quiet suburb yet it only took half an hour using public transit to get downtown.
Alphys was always nervous going out as there always was so many people roaming downtown, no matter what time of day (or night) it was. Monsters weren’t exactly the most common of sights yet so they were often looked at, getting mostly curious stares, which made Alphys uncomfortable. Undyne on the other hand barely seemed to notice the attention every time and kept happily chatting with Alphys.
As nervous as going downtown made her, Alphys went regularly. Internet shopping was one thing, but going in a store and finding the brand new volume of her favorite series was something else. So she and Undyne planned frequent shopping trips where they would spend an afternoon visiting their favorite shops and then stopping in whichever small coffee shop was around
Every time they sat down face to face with their drinks, Undyne would take Alphys’ hand and smile gently at her and every time, this was Alphys’ favorite moment of the day.
Alphyne week 9, Day 1 (a bit late on this but it sounded fun so I wanted to try writing some stuff)
Prompt: Anniversary

The setting sun casted a golden glow in the currently empty apartment they were visiting. Alphys looked up but couldn’t see the expression on Undyne’s face. Did she hear things? Undyne usually spoke so loudly that Alphys could not believe the quiet question that seemed to have escaped Undyne’s lips. Silence weighted heavily upon the pair until Alphys decided to ask.
“W-w-wait are y-you s-s-suggesting…”
“I’m not too good with words” Undyne started before Alphys could finish “and I know we’ve been dating for only a few weeks but yes I’m asking if you want to come live here with me. I love you so much and I don’t want to wait any longer”
Undyne turned around to face Alphys, her face a deep shade of red with a very nervous smile. This was the first time (but certainly not the last!) Undyne told Alphys “I love you” out loud. Alphys stared directly into her girlfriend’s eyes. She felt incredibly warm all over and knew her skin was probably matching the color of Undyne’s blush. The small lizard tried to speak but the words got caught in her throat. So instead she replied by wrapping her hands on the back of Undyne’s neck and pulling her into a deep kiss.
This was exactly a year ago. Alphys was now standing in the same apartment but it was no longer empty. It was now filled with their belongings and on the walls were several pictures of them together (as well as some anime and game posters here and there of course). Alphys was pacing back and forth, waiting for Undyne to come back from work. She wondered if Undyne remembered what day it was today. She also wondered if maybe she was doing a bit too much. They had already celebrated their relationship anniversary not long ago yet she also wanted to celebrate their moving in together anniversary.
Before Alphys could rethink her plan through and put away the diner candles and turn off the romantic music, she heard keys getting inserted into the front door. Undyne opened the door and was in visible shock.
“Oh what’s all this about sweetheart?” she asked, giving her girlfriend an affectionate peck on the cheek.
“It might be sound silly but there’s another anniversary I want to celebrate” Alphys meekly replied.
Undyne squeezed Alphys in for a tight hug and started laughing.
“W-what’s so funny?” Alphys asked, embarrassed.
“I’m just happy you remembered, Alphy” At that, Undyne opened her bag and took out a gorgeous bouquet of red roses. “I got these for you” she added, grinning as wide as she could.
After that night, Alphys never hesitated again to plan a celebration, big or small, for all the days she felt were important. And each time, she was delighted to find that Undyne also had the same idea in mind.

Yesterday I realized I haven’t drawn coroika in a while now, and since I got some new ink pens, I decided to do a lazy unfinished ink/pencil sketch of Bobble! Along with some undertale doodles from a while back. I hope you guys will like it!

theory: sans and alphys used to work together
Everyone in Undertale has a very distinct relationship with one another (not necessarily love). It is very obvious that Sans and Papyrus are two brothers that care about each other. It's obvious that Toriel and Asgore are former lovers. But what about Sans and Alphys?
While trying to speak to Alphys at the end of the True Pacifist Ending, there's a short conversation between Undyne and Alphys, and Sans tries to make a joke. But Alphys interrupted him with the same pun. So obviously Alphys knew Sans well enough to guess what he would say in that situation. But where did they know each other?
Let's backtrack.
We know that Dr. Alphys was a scientist before she became the Royal Scientist. She did experiments in the True Lab using DETERMINATION and recorded entries in there. But one particular entry stuck out to me.
ENTRY 5
In this entry, Alphys used "blueprints" to extract determination from the human souls. But what are these blueprints? In fact, the only other time the word "blueprints" is mentioned in-game is in Sans' workshop.
Since this is literally the only other time "blueprints" is mentioned, we must assume that these are the same ones Alphys mentioned. So if Alphys and Sans both have or had the same blueprints, and they were about scientific experiments, that could only mean one thing.
Sans was also a scientist.
There is actually more evidence that Sans was a scientist because of the items that he owns in his house.
We must assume that this is Sans' book, because it was hidden away inside of a joke book. I highly doubt someone would read a quantum physics book for fun, unless they could actually understand what it means.
Let's go back to the blueprints.
Now that we know that Sans and Alphys were both scientists, and probably worked together, let's see what other information we can find about the blueprints. If you interact with them, it says, "You can't read the symbols they're written in.."
Symbols? What symbols? Nobody writes in symbols!
Nobody except the author of Entry 17, widely speculated to be W.D Gaster, the old Royal Scientist. But what is Gaster saying? Well, he isn't speaking gibberish. He's actually speaking through a font called Wingdings, which can be translated. The exact translation is:

The darkness keeps growing

Very
Very
Interesting
What do you two think?
Now that is very cryptic, but it also gives us a lot of information. For example, if these are the symbols used in the blueprints, that means Sans and Alphys could understand Wingdings, and possibly worked with Dr. Gaster.
Does this mean that the "two" that Gaster was talking about were Sans and Alphys?
It's very possible.
However, how close were Sans and Alphys?
Alphys was most likely alone when she conducted the experiments on the fallen down monsters, and unfortunately turned them into Amalgamates. She seemingly didn't tell anyone about this and fell into a spiral of depression. But did she tell the one person who could have understood what she did? Did she tell her old coworker?
When you call Papyrus outside of Alphys' lab without befriending Undyne, he and Sans say this:
Now Sans could be joking, but a lot of Sans' "jokes" turn out to be serious, so what if this was also serious? Does this mean that Sans knew about the Amalgamates? It's highly possible, especially with this dialogue:
I highly doubt that Sans was trying to eat healthier by eating dog food, but why would he give the bag to Alphys? For all we know, she doesn't have a dog. But she does have another "type of dog." That's right, Endogeny the Amalgamate. It's pretty likely that Sans knew about the Amalgamate Experiments, and if Sans is the only one she told, it's obvious that these two were very close.
But what did Sans do as a scientist?
And how do these two know Dr. Gaster?
I guess we'll never know...
