A reference drawing of my interpretation of the cyborg character Murderbot. It has very dark brown skin and darker hair and a lean muscular build. While most of its body is covered in skin, a few parts, mostly its neck, abdomen, back of head, and spine, and energy projectiles on its arms are covered in black metal. Its joints, the seems on its face, and the sclera of its eyes change color based on the danger level of the situation it is in. Technically the danger level is an indicator of how much danger Murderbot thinks those it is concerned with are in. The colors go from turquoise to green to black to bright red, with turquoise being high safety (something the company did not expect any of their secunits to be involved in) and bright red being extreme danger. The most commonly expressed colors are green to medium red. One of the full body drawings shows Murderbot with buzzed short hair, unclothed, and dark red eyes, seams, and joints. In the other full body image, Murderbot is slightly shorter with slightly longer, shaggy hair and turquoise eyes, seams, and joints. It is wearing medium blue jeans, dark gray boots, a black shirt, and a dark blue hoodie. The hoodie has a pattern of lines and dots that shimmer in the light. On the sides of the sleeves are MURDERBOT written in Morse code in matte black. On its lower abdomen, back of its head, and the upper left side of its back are triangular company logos. The logo on its back is a mix of hyperpigmentation, blood vessels, and simple computer chips. It pulses with light and color when Murderbot is online. Also on the back of its neck is a circular data port. Murderbot’s expressions are also shown including, happiness, calmness, neutral/hiding emotions, anger, and sadness/anxiety. Its hair sticks up during strong emotions. It has claws on its hands that are technically retractable and long fangs, both made of black metal.

Welp, here be my interpretation of Murderbot.

Thank you to @tindoiimu for input on the inorganic colors, @nerdwingblogs for giving me the idea that it changes colors (I get choice paralysis when it comes to color schemes), and both of them plus @tytoalbias for encouraging me to let my furriness bleed into its design.

Some extra bits of info

It starts out at 7 feet tall. Is later 6 feet and 11.2 inches tall

Its skin tone is based on the Subterranean cover for Home: Habitat, Range, Niche, Territory (Book 4.5).

The skin and muscles on its head act similar to those on its back, and since the company did not intend its security units to have hair longer than a buzz cut, its head hair reacts the same as the finer hairs on the rest of its body

I’m explaining away the claws and fangs as the company trying to make their secunits more intimidating, but the real world reason is I keep calling Murderbot a cat with anxiety and just decided to run with it.
