A squid type thing I guess? Idk.
I've decided I'm going to start posting some of my art on here since I literally don't go on any other social media.
Here is my version of Emily Windsnap and Shona Silkfin from the Emily Windsnap series by Liz Kessler!
hehe another book cover!! didn't expect to make so many emily windsnap pieces but I like practicing pulling ideas from my imagination, and I feel like books are the best way to do that y'know? Also these books evoke really strong imagery for me so I have a lot to choose from. This ones just a colored thumbnail but I figured I'd post it since don't think I'll make the full one.
Castle in the Mist is my fav book because I feel like the imagery is soooo vivid and the descriptions of the castle and the interior... UGH SO GOOD👌👌👌 I found out Half Light Castle was based on Mont Saint-Michel which I had already heard of, it's like the most beautiful place in the world it's SO PRETTY
liz please let me illustrate a book im begging you. ill do it for 2 dollars and a piece of cheese
I've been trying to get to the point where I can make my own full paintings of my own ideas, I'm not quite there yet lol but I had this idea for a book cover..... i wanted to paint more mermaids....... yeah. It's when she goes swimming as a mermaid for the first time :)
I've been practicing backgrounds over the last week, and this was originally a study of a photo I took in Maine last year. I looove the beach and water is so hard to paint lol but I'm getting better. I read the Emily Windsnap books a lot when I was younger.... I love them so much and I still read them EVERY time I go to the beach, they perfectly describe the feeling of the ocean and what it's like to go to the beach. The illustrations are just UGH THEY'RE SO GOOD and I want to EAT them. Also I wanted to be a mermaid really bad when I was a kid lmao. So yeah! I was orignally going to stick a random mermaid in here but I thought what the heck. emily :)
