It's with a heavy but hopeful heart that I watch Palestinian families fundraiser on here, slowly accumulating the precious little money to go around that they need to survive. However, not everyone is so lucky. A lot of Palestinians that have not had that kind of luck, that did not get early verification, that did not get massive platforms behind them from large bloggers, have approached me in my inbox, asking me kindly to do what I can for them. It kills me that I have so little to give myself, but I've seen this platform collectively raise enough to change someone's life. I've made a list of Palestinian fundraisers that are extremely low on funds, in the hope that drawing attention to people who have not been lucky at all can help turn that luck around. I know most of us can't possibly give enough to get all of these families safe in one go. But please, reblog this list. Pick one or two fundraisers, give what you can, and then keep track of it. what I wish people would understand about fundraising for gaza is that while everyone is desperate and I would never say not to fundraise for or donate to individual families-- I currently fundraise to support multiple friends' families-- the overwhelming narrative I see on Tumblr that the best and most ethical thing you can do is send money to individuals and there is no option for anything else is so so incredibly damaging and inadvertently lends support to the marginalization and distrust of any remaining communal social infrastructure. the sameer project, which you should donate to, talks about this in a recent video they put out. the situation in gaza is unimaginable and everyone is in need of a huge level of support, and yet this fundraising discourse by well-meaning people in the west that donating money to individuals is the only moral way reproduces societal divides wherein resources are directed to people who speak English, who have relationships with people outside of gaza, and who have internet access while hundreds of thousands are left behind.

there ARE non-ngo locally based grassroots initiatives working to meet those needs however they can, and your small donation goes a lot further with them because they are able to buy food/water/supplies in bulk at a reduced price and reach more people with less money. again I'm not saying people shouldn't fundraise for individuals because these initiatives are so limited and many people cannot access them -- but as an example, the group I fundraise with is currently serving people fleeing north gaza who are starving and have nothing, and when we fundraise enough to do cash aid distribution there's so much need that our partners can only distribute 100-200 per large family. and then I go online and see people who have absolutely no understanding of this context at all exclusively working towards raising tens of thousands for just a few people when evacuations haven't been possible for months. it's good to do whatever you can but please consider how this narrative being reproduced among westerners trying to help that there are no other options has the potential to damage groups working towards equity and wider reach however is still possible

Our life was normal and full of optimism, and we had big ambitions.I worked in smartphone programming at City Phone. I was happy with my job, and our dreams were focused on building a bright and beautiful future for our children. We had a large, beautiful home that sheltered us, full of many wonderful memories.

In the face of this tragedy, Khaled decided to start a campaign asking for help. He isn’t just asking for himself, but for all those who suffer like him. Khaled is trying to leave Gaza in search of safety and a chance to start over. However, he faces a significant obstacle: it costs 5,000 USD per person to leave when the border crossing opens.

We were displaced from Rafah to Al-Mawasi in Khan Yunis, under severe bombardment and destruction, without anything, in a small tent that can not accommodate 5 people without the necessities of life.😞💔😭

As was supposed, I was studying at a university in the month of October in which the war broke out, but my university was destroyed, and the universities in the entire sector were destroyed.

muhammad is only 26. he's younger than i am. it breaks my heart that this is something he has to worry about. unfortunately, it is, and he's got his family to worry about too:

mona, his wife, 24 years old

iman, 6, and toleen, 5, his daughters

his mother and father

they've lost their home in the war. they are currently displaced in deir al balah. iman and toleen have gotten sick due to the conditions in the camp they're staying in. look at these sweet girls; they don't deserve this.

they deserve a home. they deserve warmth and safety. they deserve a cozy bed to sleep in every night, and a home to decorate with star-shaped lights like they had before.

this is not merely a dream they have; it is an attainable goal.

muhammad needs to raise €30k total to get his family out, of which he only has €5257 at the time of my writing this post. i am appealing to all of you who see this post to please share it. please donate whatever you can. i know a lot of people have been feeling hopeless especially now, but please don't. there is hope. if the people of palestine have hope and faith, so should we all. and now more than ever we need to work together to help them.
