The fact that Thanos had a necklace full of drugs and the mother had a KNIFE in her hair after they were kidnapped brought to the game but they found gi-huns tracker THAT WAS IN A TOOTH IN HIS MOUTH really gives the impression that the game runners couldn't give a fuck about any of the players other than gi-hun. That just really didn't care.
They could just go whatever the fuck they wanted. Poor gi-hun
(also ... Who found that tracker. Who stuck their hand in his mouth to look for it. Frontman, I'm looking at you)
Dude, I just saw someone saw that gi-hun had lost all his personality, character and whimsy and had 0 arc this season. Said he was a completely different guy and my GOD do I want to tear out my own hair or throw them or myself off a cliff.
HAVE YOU EVER HEARD OF PTSD???????????? OF DEPRESSION??? OF TRAUMA AND WHAT IT CAN DO TO YOU?
As someone who knows, yeah, that's what it does to you. Suddenly you aren't the happy person you once were. That doesn't fucking mean your a different person or have no personality.
I thought how gi-hun was characterized was perfect. Spot on. I saw myself in him and I understood what he was thinking or feeling most of the time. Especially since the games this season seem mostly aimed to hurt him specifically, and I can go into that later. With how Season 1 left off, this was how I expected gi-hun to act. It makes sense! That doesn't mean hes another guy.
Also ... No arc, you say? His arc this season was trying NOT to change. I don't know what to call it, a... Test of will, or smt I guess. Yeah it's not a typical arc but by golly am I interested in it.
The entire season, in-ho was trying to hurt him. Saying things that would put more death on his shoulders, more guilt. Since he joined the game. The whole thing was trying to get gi-hun to stop caring about people. To perhaps, let people die. 'to stop being the hero'. That's literally how the season left off. Jung bae is dead and in-ho staged it to make the majority of the responsibility and guilt on gi-hun.
He's trying to break him.
Yet, despite it all, gi-hun keeps trying to save people. Over and over. Even after the purposefully crafted 'special' game when the players killed each other, gi-hun won't let them murder the ones who did. His whole purpose, the whole reason he's in this season to begin with, is because he wants to save people.
And the antagonist is trying to ruin that and break him.
That's his arc. And by golly is it a fascinating arc.
Also, in that post it said that (tho not a trans person) they think hyun was odd representation... and girl. Shut up. As a trans person I fucking love hyun. I cried when that grandma said she was one of the girls too when going to the bathroom. Hyun is so multifaceted and unique and not morally bad or good, she's just a person who makes mistakes. And tho her transness is a big part of her character, it didn't feel forced.
