Zuko Crosshair Alone

Spoiler Warning: TBB season 2 episode 3

Content Warning: discussion of depression

Im not going to lie, Crosshair sitting by himself was a bit too real for me. Like, I'll be in a lecture and no one wants to sit with me (to be fair though, everyone avoids everyone).

I also just wanted to say that, regardless of whether or not you like him, you have to feel for Crosshair because he is so alone. Sure, you can say that these are the consequences of his actions and yes, I agree. But it doesn't negate the fact that it is a very sad state to see someone be in. He is turning out to be quite the tragic character and it reminds me of a few other characters from other series; specifically Zuko from Avatar: The Last Airbender, Sasuke from Naruto, and Red Hood from DC Comics. Moreover, this episode (at least to me) really embodied what depression can look like. He's a shell of who he once was, he doesn't know what he wants, what/who he cares about or what to do with himself. The days seem to blur together and most importantly, he's completely and utterly alone. No one to rely on, no one to fall back onto. And that really just spoke to me on a personal level.

I go into a lot more detail about this episode and how I personally think it's a masterpiece so if you're interested, go check that out. It's divided into two parts:

Part 1

Today's episode of The Bad Batch was truly a work of art. I wanted to discuss just how well executed of an episode it was, especially becaus

Part 2

The Unseen Tragedy of the Clones

Alright folks, I am back once again with another Star Wars discussion. And yes, I could be putting my time towards actual school work yet here I am…we live with the choices we make….anyways!

MAJOR SPOILERS ahead for both The Clone Wars and The Bad Batch!

CONTENT WARNING! Mentions of torture, eugenics, and slavery. If any of these topics are sensitive or triggering to you, please do not proceed.  Mental Health first, take care of yourselves!

With out further ado, enjoy!

I’ve been thinking about this for a really long time and it has finally reached a point where I need to formulate my thoughts. Basically (as you can probably tell from the title), I wanted to discuss the tragedy that is the clones. I know this is not a new concept whatsoever, and that most if not all people have thought and/or talked about this by now, but I wanted to post about it regardless.

The clones, right from the moment of their creation, were tragic. They were bred to fight in a war they had no choice in, and in turn, were never given the opportunity to think about what they were truly fighting for. Their opinions, thoughts and feelings simply never mattered. By design, literally right down to their DNA, they were made to be subservient and obedient child soldiers. Moreover, they were subjected to cruel and unjust treatment at the hands of the Kaminoan’s, undergoing inhumane procedures from the [standardized] accelerated growth of all clones, to random biopsies and other enhancement operations. Yet, when a clone failed to meet Kaminoan expectations, they are “decommissioned;” in other words, eugenics. However, it can be argued that the whole Kaminoan cloning operation is eugenics (selecting desirable traits, etc.), but that’s a topic for another time.

Referring back to the clones disposition of accelerated growth is another point of concern. Sure, it was a “necessity” in order to get an army ready as fast as possible, but when you take a step back and look at what’s really going on, you have an army of clone children (chronologically); albeit, they are physically and mentally adults. Irregardless, it is an extremely fine line and depending on who you ask, it can be acceptable or unacceptable.

Now for the rancor in the room: the clones are literally slaves. They were unpaid (chronologically) child soldiers who were not viewed as humans by the general public, they did not have rights whatsoever, they were not allowed to make any decisions for their own lives (have a life beyond being a soldier of the GAR) and most importantly, they were viewed as replaceable cogs apart of the ever-turning wheel that is the war. This looks extremely bad on its own, but when you apply the fact that this army is the army of the Republic? It’s far worse, let me explain. The Republic, a government that not only preaches but actively advocates for peace and liberty, has an army made of soldiers who do not have liberty. The hypocrisy is unrivalled. And sure, you could argue that this is due to Palpatine and his master plan to destroy the Jedi and the Republic. But when you remove him from the equation, the hypocrisy remains. The “Great” Republic isn’t as great as its made out to be. As all things are, there are a lot of grey areas here. What remains though, is the fact that not many, if any, senators or civilians advocated for clone rights. Only Senator Padmé Amidala had ever advocated for them when she was trying to stop their needless production. And we all remember how that turned out. Sure Palpatine was the devil on the shoulder of a lot of senators, egging them on to one direction over another. But the fact is, those senators and those civilians never bothered to consider any of this. They remained complacent and were happy to accept an army of expendable soldiers.

Even with all of these disadvantages in their lives, the clones made the best of it with what they were given. Not all people were against them. They made strong bonds among their brothers and found friendship in their Jedi generals. They also found a way to be unique, through different hair styles to tattoos and even armour paint. They made their lives bearable. But what really cemented the fact that they meant nothing to the people they protected was during order 66. This is not the fault of the people but rather their failure as a people to question the unethical operations of the Kaminoan’s and protest against it. Had they done something small like that, it would’ve put a lot more into question, like what were the ethics of the clone production, what did they do or didn’t do to them, etc. It is the job of the people to constantly challenge the politics of their government in order to keep it in check and to always strive for an even better democracy. Where the Republic had failed, the people of the Republic failed as well. The clones were merely the physical embodiment of the failure of a democracy that had died long before episode 1. And the clones, along with many others (civilians, sovereign planets, etc.) were the victims. That is the unseen tragedy of the clones.

As both a Tech girlie and a Crosshair girlie since the moment they were introduced to the world (back in 2020 with season 7 of The Clone Wars), I couldn't be happier with the past two episodes. I would imagine that many of my fellow Tech and Crosshair fans can agree when I say that it's truly wonderful to see them finally get the screen time and character development that they've deserved (respectively). And yes, I know it was a filler episode but I was still smiling the entire time. I am very pleased.

As Both A Tech Girlie And A Crosshair Girlie Since The Moment They Were Introduced To The World (back

I do need to say this, though. I find it to be quite hilarious how we go from last week's episode of Crosshair living his worst life (actually fighting for his life, albeit, due to his own choices). Then this week's episode is just Tech living his best life. Not a care in the world, just racing, with his siblings cheering him on... LOL The dichotomy is amusing and ironic.

As Both A Tech Girlie And A Crosshair Girlie Since The Moment They Were Introduced To The World (back

Okay that is all. 😗✌️

I love Crosshair, I really do. He is such a complex and tragic character; he has so much potential. But it's getting increasingly difficult to keep defending him when he keeps making the absolute worst decisions (bordering on crimes against humanity). He needs to get off that Imperial za and get some sense slapped into him.

The irony in all this is that for someone who is supposed to be an enhanced, dare I say superior, clone commando, his ability to analyze his situation and see the bigger picture is next to nonexistent. Moreover, it's even more ironic when he keeps saying "good soldiers follow orders"... like when did he ever follow rules? (As a former member of a group of clones whose whole purpose was to do things differently and that also means not following the rules all the time)

Please...let him be happy with his brothers and sister again...and please let them all survive...I'm begging...I can't take much more of this...

I Love Crosshair, I Really Do. He Is Such A Complex And Tragic Character; He Has So Much Potential. But

The Solitary Clone is a Masterpiece **MASSIVE SPOILERS!** Episode 3 Discussion PART 2

I absolutely loved that we got more discussion in regards to the politics of it all, especially with the Separatists and the clever callback to TCW with Mina Bonteri. The final scenes where the Separatist governor, Tawni, discusses the failed efforts that they made to put an end to the war, and how "peace was never an option" was masterful. And the cherry on top was when Cody attempts to negotiate with her and successfully convinces her, only for Grotton to order her execution. The continued use of symbolism with un-helmeted clones to show those that they are freethinkers rebelling is subtle yet brilliant. Cody's agency and resolve stops him from doing what he knows is wrong, and the final straw for him is when Tawni is ultimately shot by Crosshair. And I'll be honest, I really did not expect this. I was somewhat disappointed in Crosshair's decision, yet I also understand that he as a character must get worse before he can get better. He is also not at the same stage that Cody is at (as stated before), so he is still following orders blindly and without a second thought about the consequences or repercussions of his actions. When Crosshair and Cody are boarding the ship, as I referenced earlier to the discussion of the Defence Recruitment bill, Cody witnesses this first-hand when a ship arrives with TK troopers. The clones are doing the dirty work, while we actively see the Empire not only replace them, but moving in to occupy more sovereign worlds. The expansion of Palpatine's iron grip continues to grow. The conclusion to this episode was devastating, to say the least. Cody and Crosshair speak, once again in front of the clone memorial. this time, Cody says a few very important words that show the viewers that he has made his decision, and that [I believe] will stick with Cross, "You know what makes us different from battle droids? We make our own decisions. Our own choices. And...We have to live with them too." I loved this scene for a few reasons. Firstly, because wow, that hit me right in the feels and secondly, because Cody is planting the seeds for Crosshair to really reflect on what he has done and what he will do. Crosshair has been given two opportunities to get out this situation, both times have been squandered. Now more than ever, Crosshair will have to face the consequences of his actions and, moreover, will have an even harder time getting out of this. He is, once again, alone. To conclude, this episode ends with Crosshair waking up in a similar way to how the episode started. The use of visual repetition shows how bleak and depressing Crosshair's life has become. Going to eat alone, and getting called to Rampart's office and going to speak with Rampart once again. The part that really hammered home the fact that the clones are just numbers to the Empire was when Cross asks what about Cody (in regards to his next mission), and Rampart doesn't care to recognize who he is talking about until Cross says Cody's CT number. Again, they are just numbers; this fact could very well be a tipping point for Crosshair if it continues to occur. Cody is declared to have gone "awol" and Crosshair, while it is subtle, appears distraught and confused. And the part that really hits the nail in the coffin is when Rampart makes the crude statement about how all the clones around Cross seem to be going awol and that their loyalty is becoming increasingly hard to come by. Again, another important moment because loyalty is a big part of Crosshair's story arc and if he correlates loyalty to the clones, something (the clones) that is slowly but surely being phased out, then he is losing his grip on what is keeping him with the Empire in the first place. Sorry for how long this was, but I really just needed to completely dissect this episode because it was genuinely a masterpiece. It was literature and art and everything I love in stories.

"The Solitary Clone" is a Masterpiece **MASSIVE SPOILERS!** Episode 3 Discussion PART 1

Today's episode of The Bad Batch was truly a work of art. I wanted to discuss just how well executed of an episode it was, especially because this is my shit as an English major. I love the tragedy and the multiple levels of symbolism in literature. This will be divided into two parts because for some reason, Tumblr isn’t letting me post it in one :/ Okay, first and foremost, they did an excellent job in setting the tone for this episode. From the way that it opened with Crosshair waking up in his drab and dimly lit room (a nice call back to Kallus from Rebels), to him going to eat with other clones that end up leaving when he sits with them, and even when he is called to Ramparts office. Right off the bat, the viewers are immersed in what Crosshair is feeling and thinking. He is very much alone, isolated and conflicted (more on this later). I also wanted to note the importance of the scene were the two clones are discussing the Defence Recruitment bill that would effectively see clones filtered out and replaced by citizens (I'll reference this later on too). When Crosshair goes to speak with Rampart, immediately I'm heartbroken to hear how long he was stranded on Kamino (32 rotations...wtf). Moreover, the way I see it, Rampart is a representative (literally and metaphorically) of the Empires value or lack thereof. His blatant disregard and disrespect to Crosshair, and in turn soldiers in general, could be the breaking point for Cross if this treatment continues (which I'm guessing it will).  The way I understand and interpret it, Crosshair is confused and conflicted about everything. He remains with the Empire because it's easy and because it's the only life he's ever known. Leaving that life behind and deserting it means that he must face himself in order to understand 1) who he is, 2) what he wants and 3) what/who he cares about. He isn't at that stage of his story...yet. But we as the viewers are slowly but surely seeing his resolve begin to break through these interactions and experiences (discussed above). Now, the scene with Crosshair and Cody. Everyone has already analyzed this to death but I'll just reiterate it. Cody and Crosshair meet in front of the clone memorial and they have a brief conversation before going on their mission. This scene is great because we see them testing each other in this conversation and seeing where they stand/how they feel about everything that's happened and is happening. Cody, obviously, is further along in his realizations than Crosshair is. We see this through the ways that Cody looks at the memorial and Crosshair respectively. He is uncertain, sad and also very confused. The scene where Cody mentions the uncertainty of the clones as well as how more and more of them (including the bad batch) are going awol is great. As I mentioned above, this is Cody testing the waters with Crosshair to see where he stands in all this. And when Cross responds by saying that "they are traitors just like the Jedi," it is fantastic because the tension only increases. Cody is visibly distraught by this (probably because he is remembering what he was forced to do) and falls back onto the "good soldiers follow orders." Well played Filoni et al.

AWWW LOOK AT HIM!❤️🖤

Just a little headcanon:

As a child, Crosshair's hair was dark except for just a small white strand somewhere at his temple. But with age, the white strands became more and more numerous - due to genetic mutations, the hair on his head lost color in sections until it became completely white.

Just A Little Headcanon:

Maybe in just a few years he'll start saying that the amount of stress his brothers are causing made him go gray in his cadet years.

Hey, can I please request crosshair x jedi!fem reader

Friends to lovers where they have a sparring match together and then realise they like each other? ty so much <33

hehehe this was cute and fun to write

Hey, Can I Please Request Crosshair X Jedi!fem Reader

Crosshair wipes blood from his lip after the most recent blow.

“I thought we were pulling punches, cyare,” He sneers, growing more and more annoyed at this sham of a training session.

He doesn’t even understand why he has to train one on one, he’s the sniper of the group and rarely ever actually sees the action up close. It’s quite literally his job to be removed from it and stay vigilant.

“I was,” you chuckle, “You just leaned into it.”

He readies his stance again, knuckles taped and ready.

“What does that mean, cyare?”

He smirks.

“What, they don’t teach you Mando’a in Jedi school? Just little magic tricks?”

You push him back with the force, and then bounce from foot to foot, switching your stance to let him try and get another shot in.

“All magic tricks, Cross.”

He charges, and you block, but just barely. You pivot to avoid another blow, and then manage to get the upper hand when your elbow lands between his shoulder blades.

“How about a bet?” you propose, trying to keep your voice even so he doesn’t know you’re catching your breath. He straightens up, rolling his shoulder back beneath his blacks.

“I’m listening,” he says. He turns to look at you, something unreadable in his expression that you can’t exactly place. Reading emotion was never your strong suit, practice with the force or not.

“If I win this round you have to tell me what that means,” you state plainly. He’d been calling you ‘cyare’ for days without letting you know what it meant, his brothers all giving you looks each time but none of them actually helping you out and explaining the new nickname. Crosshair’s eyes search your face for a moment, furrowed brows warping his tattoo slightly.

“And if I win?” he asks, of course. He’s gotta have an angle in this too.

“I don’t know,” you admit, you hadn’t really been thinking before you spoke, “Anything I guess.”

Famous last words.

Crosshair smirks, and humms. He takes a few steps backwards before getting back into position to fight.

“I’ll take that bet,” he agrees, and lets you get into position as well.

The sparring begins slowly, you circle one another, trying to study all of your possible movements. He lunges, and you easily jump out of his way. You kick, and he dodges just as smoothly. Crosshair charges, and you let yourself be lifted by him, only to hook one of your legs behind his knee and pull. Effectively, he grunts as he hits the ground. You grip his shoulders and shove them to the ground, pinning him.

“You wanna tap out?” you tease.

Crosshair struggles under your grasp, one you know he’s strong enough to break. He’s physically capable of taking you down without the force on your side, but he doesn’t break the hold. He growls under your grasp, but still he doesn’t throw you.

“Fine,” he hisses, and your grasp on him starts to loosen.

You lean in closely into the hold, bold and prideful of your takedown.

“I win,” you whisper, close enough to the sniper’s ear to kiss.

You push yourself back up, still holding yourself over him.

“So what does it mean?” you ask with a smile, ready to hear whatever ridiculous thing it actually means.

Crosshair looks away, his eyes instead focusing on something across the room as he mouths the translation of the word.

‘Beloved.’

Thats the word that his lips formed around. Beloved. Beloved. You frown at the word, not because you don’t want him to say that. Not because you don’t want him to call you that. You want him to look at you.

“Cross…” you trail off, and he turns his head. His eyes look hard, brows set, his lips pressed into a tight line.

“What did you want if you won?”

That unreadable expression returns to his face again, and then he responds.

“I was going to ask if you would forget your code for a night and come relax with us.”

You don’t respond, your frown only faltering, before you decide to move. You use your leg under his for leverage, and pull until you can roll yourself over, letting him shift until he’s on top of you.

Your frown breaks, and maybe you even smile.

“Looks like you win,” you muse, and his scowl breaks as well.

“I let you win the first time,” he says, shoulders shrugging as he looms over you.

Somehow, you knew that already.

“Whatever you say, Cross.”

Crosshair x Fem!Reader Short One-shot - The Fatal Mistake

Hey, If It Isn’t Too Much Trouble And When You Have All The Energy You Need, Would You Consider Making

Warnings: Angst/Violence/Tiny Bit Of Fluff

_________________

Forgive me for making something up that isn't canon (yet).

After Crosshair managed to flee Hemlocks facility, he reunited with you, after months of being missing. The Doctor doesn't take it too well, especially since Tarkin is watching this failure critically.

Hemlocks spies know about you, and he gets hold of you. As Crosshair tries to free you, things turn ugly.

___________________

The Fatal Mistake

After the sound of gunshots fades, it is eerily quiet for a long moment. A deceptive silence that seems almost peaceful. Until a voice familiar to you breaks the silence.

Crosshair snarls, "You're in over your head, Doctor."

Hemlock knows what Crosshair can do, and yet he feels superior, his movements deliberate, slow and confident, like those of a predator. His posture carries the arrogance typical of a bully who feels superior to his victim.

He has you handcuffed in front of him like a shield, he is sure that he holds all the cards at the moment, even if Crosshair has taken out his men, and he is facing the Sniper alone.

"I don't think so," Hemlock replies in his calm, low voice, almost purring, "I have someone very close to your heart here, as you can see, and I intend to take advantage of the situation."

Crosshair tilts his head slightly forward, his gaze piercingly fixed on Hemlock, almost like a bull ready to charge at any moment. There's so much hatred in his amber eyes that even you feel it run down your spine, though you know that hatred isn't for you at all.

"Bringing her into this was a big mistake. If you take her from me, I have nothing left to lose, and I will walk over dead bodies to get her back," he growls.

Hemlock has one hand on your shoulder, with the other he points to the dead on the ground, the bullet holes still smoking.

"Yeah, I saw that. You've always been willing to take lives, even innocent lives, without hesitation, from what I've heard."

Crosshair grits his teeth, avoiding looking at your face for fear of the judgment that might lie within. He is well aware of his mistakes, and they've kept him up many a night.

"Those were different times, different circumstances," he says reluctantly.

Hemlock smiles and says unapologetically, "Tell yourself that if it makes you sleep better at night. But in fact, I know you hardly slept in the weeks before you were brought to me. Guilt?"

Crosshair doesn't dignify that question with a response, but instead demands, "Let her go."

You listen to the men, nervously. You know that your life or death is being decided here. You feel Hemlock's hand on your shoulder and the handcuffs cutting into the skin of your wrists.

A few minutes ago you thought you were lost, but Crosshair really showed up, he really came to save you. Fear and joy mix. You trust him, you trust that he will do the right thing. You force yourself to take a breath, to trust that Crosshair has the situation under control.

"Tell yourself that if it makes you sleep better at night. But in fact, I know you barely slept in the weeks before you were brought to me. Guilt?"

"Let her go."

You know about the conflict Crosshair still fights with himself regarding past actions of his. You don't judge him, even though the realization when you first learned some things was a shock.

Crosshair raises his rifle and Hemlock's hand shoots from your shoulder to your neck, pulling you closer to him. He doesn't strangle you, but the grip is firm enough to be uncomfortable. Both men are more than tense.

"Get your hands off her, now!"

"I'm inclined to take them from you just to see how far I can break you," Hemlock says, laughing softly.

You hear a gunshot, you feel Hemlock flinch behind you the next moment and let you go. Hastily, you dash forward and behind Crosshair, who hastily comes towards you and pushes you behind him.

The sniper growls, "There's a reason my name is Crosshair, you should know that, Hemlock. You didn't really think you could use her as a shield, did you?"

Hemlock lies on the ground, one hand, on the side of his neck, looking up at the two of you. He's not mortally wounded, probably would survive this. He looks at you, a biting smile on his lips as he says, "You cost me so much, the respect of my superiors, my project, everything. I should have killed her when I had the chance, only to see in your face how you are breaking inside."

Crosshair growls and slowly leans over him, like a predator sure of its prey.

"You won't get another chance at this"

The muzzle of the rifle tilts toward Hemlock's face. Hastily, you look away as Crosshair pulls the trigger several times at once. You smell burning skin, and flesh, and shake yourself. Automatically, you take a few shaky steps away from Hemlock, who is now lying dead on the ground, to escape the smell.

Crosshair hurriedly follows you, you hear him close behind you, "Are you hurt?"

You shake your head and say softly, "No, just still in a bit of shock."

Very slowly, almost tentatively, Crosshair grabs your shoulder, turns you around to face him and looks at you scrutinizing. His amber eyes roam over your face.

"Are you sure?" he asks gently.

You nod and say just as gently, "Thank you for saving me."

Crosshair relaxes a little, a small smirk twitching at the corners of his mouth, barely noticeable, but you know him well enough to see it. He kisses your temple, long and tenderly, maintaining contact for quite a while, a rare gesture.

"Of course. Anytime, Kitten."

Crosshair is rescued and moves to Pabu with his siblings. He has a hard time adjusting to non-military life, but he's getting there. He meets you, another islander, and is absolutely SMITTEN. Doesn't know how to approach you, and doesn't want to ruin his chances at this new life, so he's super quiet and actually pretty sweet. He offers to help you with your gardening, maintenance on your boat, compliments your baking. Sure, he still gives you the occasional sarcastic remark and maintains his dry sense of humor, but he's making a distinct effort to not fuck this up.

When you run into his siblings they're like "You've met our brother Crosshair, right? He moved here not too long ago."

"Oh yeah, he's so nice!"

And they're like WHAT?! There must be another Crosshair on this island because our Crosshair is NOT nice. It takes them a while to realize that YEAH that's our Crosshair, he's just got a massive fucking soft spot for you. They've never seen him with a crush before and they are living for it.

"Fake Boyfriend"

7. Putting someone behind them to protect them

Pairing: Crosshair x fem reader

***

After coming back from another tiring mission, you were hanging out with your squad and friends, the Bad Batch, at 79's getting some drinks. The bar was pretty crowded this time and it was starting to get hot inside from everyone there. The boys didn't seem to mind as much. You were sitting next to Crosshair, who had his arm draped over the back of the booth behind you. He might as well have had his arm around you with how close his hand was to your shoulder. The two of you had a habit of flirting with each other all the time, but usually in a joking way that wasn't serious. At least, that's what you told yourself. Because unfortunately for you, you had a feeling it was all just fun to Crosshair, even though it was more real for you. At this point, you just figured there was no point in admitting your feelings and potentially making things awkward with him, especially when it already took a bit of work to break through his shell anyway. You didn't want to undo all the work you'd already done in getting him to open up to you.

You stood up and announced to the boys that you were going to step outside for some air for a second and they acknowledged your decision.

Crosshair reached up and tapped your arm, saying, "Don't be gone too long."

"Why? Will you miss me?" you asked back.

He said nothing, but simply gave you a knowing look that said, "Come on, really?" like the answer to the question was obvious...but it wasn't really.

When you stepped outside, you walked just a little ways down the platform 79's was on to around the corner of the building, your hands in your pockets. The noise of Coruscant air traffic buzzed in your ears along with the chatter of Clones and other people also out on the platform.

A few minutes later, a speeder with a human male atop it pulled up and docked next to you, his eyes trained on you as he parked his speeder almost without even looking. "Well, hey there, beautiful," he spoke to you.

With a deadpan look, you replied, "Can I help you?"

He smirked looked you over in a way that made you want to squirm and you didn't get that way very often. "What's a pretty girl like you doing in this part of town?"

"I fail to see how that's your business," you commented. As he started getting closer, your hand slowly made its way around behind you to where your blaster was holstered just in case.

"You shouldn't be out here alone. I could uh...give you some company," he suggested, wiggling his eyebrows.

"She isn't alone," you heard another familiar voice say before you could respond. Just then, Crosshair appeared next to you and he protectively moved you behind him as he stepped forward to face the man in front of you.

The man's suggestive smirk disappeared and he gave Crosshair an unamused look. "Who are you?" he questioned.

Without even hesitating, Crosshair answered, "I'm her boyfriend."

Your body locked up at his response. Did he just say...?

Then he kept going, "She's my girl and I suggest you get back on your speeder and move along...while you still have the ability to drive."

The stranger just scoffed and stated with a dismissive wave, "Whatever." With a huff, he turned on his heel, climbed back on his speeder and sped off.

Once he was gone, Crosshair turned around to face you. "Are you all right?"

You nodded. "Yeah, he didn't do anything. He was just a creep. Thanks for that."

He simply nodded.

"Didn't expect you to pull the 'fake boyfriend' card, though," you told him.

"I thought it's what would get rid of him the fastest," he explained.

For some reason, you had dared to hope that maybe there had been more behind his reasoning, but you should've expected this.

Though, you clearly didn't hide the disappointment in your face well enough because Crosshair then pointed out, "You don't seem content with that answer."

You weren't sure if you could cover up how you really felt at this point, so you admitted, unable to look at him right away, "Well...I don't know, I just kind of hoped that...maybe it could actually be a real thing."

When you looked up at him, his eyes had narrowed slightly. "You...you want that?" he asked, seemingly dumbfounded.

You gave a shy nod and a shrug. "I mean...we flirt all the time and I keep thinking sometimes that maybe you would want something like that, too, but I'm sure it's all been just fun and nothing serious. Which I understand if it is."

"It's not like that."

"Wait, what?"

"I only flirt with you...and I do it because I want to. I'm not good with words and I hoped that maybe I could get my interest across that way."

You were stunned for a moment before saying, "So all this time...you were interested in me?"

He stepped closer to you and took a surprisingly gentle hold of your chin, tilting your head up and touching his lips softly to yours for but a brief moment.

A small sigh left your lips when he pulled back and you replied, "I'll take that as a 'yes', then?"

He snickered. "Was that not enough for you to believe me?"

You smirked back at him. "I might need a little extra convincing."

That was how you found yourself pushed up against the outside wall of 79's and making out passionately with Crosshair...until the rest of the boys eventually came out looking for you both.

"Hey! I thought you said you were coming out to get some air?" Wrecker questioned as you both jumped apart.

"She wanted some of Crosshair's air, it seems," Hunter teased.

The two of you blushed bright red, but the rest of the squad seemed pretty happy about the two of you. You walked back to the Marauder hand in hand with Crosshair...now your boyfriend and you, his girlfriend.

Nightmares (Crosshair X Reader)

Crosshair had been secretly pining for you stay in his arms after your friends with benefits arrangement. Not that the sex wasn't incredible, it left him elated and exhausted in equal measure.

And yet, after every encounter, you would make excuses and leave. He didn't want to plea for you to stay, it wasn't in his nature. Pulling yourself away from. He would try to make you stay, by wrapping his arms tight around you. Every time he did this, he secretly hoped that you would melt into his arms and stay there the whole night. The two of you comforted by the feeling of the other in their arms. But you never did.

If we were being truthful, it began to irritate him after a while. It irked him to his core. How could he express that wanted more than the current arrangement, if you ran away after the astonishing sex? You'd perfected the motion of rutting into each other, of tongues dancing in a passion union. He tried becoming more affectionate during the sex, hoping you'd get the hint. Hoping you'd understand the things he couldn't say. He would brush his knuckles over your cheek gently, stare longingly into your eyes, slow the pace so he could play with your body more sensually, making everything gentler. He would hold you close, melting into you as he thrust into you.

But you couldn't stay.

Not because you didn't want to and not because you weren't sure if Crosshair wanted to stay. You knew now that he wanted you to stay. You didn't stay because you didn't want him to know about the nightmares. You had them every night and you didn't want to share that with the man you'd slowly fallen in love with.

So, pained, you left. After every delectable encounter. Even though he is trying to convince you to stay and the feeling of his arms around you want to cling to him through the night. Share the intimate space and feelings together.

But you couldn't stay.

Until one night, Crosshair had been on top of you, propped up on his elbows. This time he had to say it. He took the risk and pressed his forehead to yours. Slowly, he lowered his lips to yours, placing a gentle kiss upon them. It was a whisper of a kiss, so soft and light that you weren’t sure he had done it. It was different from the usual fire you felt when you were together. As he stared intently at you, now softening inside of you, he kept his face close to yours as whispered, “stay.”

“I can’t,” you said, and it was almost a plea. A please to not let him see that side of you. He kissed you again, this time it was firm and passionate. Then he whispered it again, “stay with me.” With those soft eyes staring at you with a burning desire, you could hardly say no. Even though you wanted to.

So, in that moment, you caved. Tonight, you’ll stay. Nodding your head, he smiled softly and rolled off of you, body pressed against the wall. You positioned yourselves so your head lay on his chest, his head resting atop yours. One of your hands entwined with his over his chest. You had to admit that you adored the sensation of being together.

You couldn’t help but fall asleep in the arms of this grumpy yet sweet and caring man. You fell asleep listening to his heartbeat. Crosshair was delighted, he tried to hide his smile and he rested his atop yours. It was the comfort and pleasure he had craved for a while and finally you were here, in his arms. He sighed softly, grasping you closer with the arm that was lazily grazing against your skin. It tickled but you found yourself comforted by the sensation.  You listened intently as his heart rate slowed and his fingers grazed slower and slower until you both drifted off to sleep.

Nightmares (Crosshair X Reader)

You were in Palace of the Jedi. Your lightsaber was glowing a hazy blue in the darkness of the hall. You’d hidden yourself in an alcove. You’d heard it over and over again. Order 66: The assassination of all the Jedi. That included you. You took a deep brearh as you considered the quickest route out of the temple.

You began to sneak down the corridor, hoping you wouldn’t encounter any clones. You were not so lucky. A group of troopers spotted you and began firing. You countered their shots, carefully aiming them back but only to injure, not to kill. One by one they fell to the ground. There were two left and so you lurched yourself forward, sliding across the floor and slicing the legs of the clones.

You continued running, trying to escape. When you managed to get through the doorway, you noticed him. Anakin. Your dear friend who has slaughtered younglings. Your dear friend who had turned to the Dark Side. As you looked at him, anger in your eyes, he looked at you with an angered pain. Our Anakin was still in there.

“You will die here,” he sneered at you, “you are weak. You were always weak. You will not get in the way of my new Empire.” His lightsaber suddenly alight, he began to circle you like prey.

Nightmares (Crosshair X Reader)

You woke with a start. As you always did. Bolting upright you began panting heavily, feeling trapped in the memory. Your lightsaber snapped into your hand as you called for it. Luckily, you only kept it in your hand and did not light it. Your breathing was out of control. He will find me again, he’ll kill me, these thoughts circuited out your brain. Nothing else was getting in.

Crosshair heard you call out to the friends you lost in your sleep. He heard you mention Order 66. Your yelling and cries had awoken him and he tried to hold you closer but your body was rigid in fear. He stroked your hair gently, hoping it would calm you.

When you sat up suddenly, Crosshair mimicked your action, gently placing his arm around your shoulder. He had moved the second you yelled out. He reached for the lightsaber in your hand, whispering gently in your ear, “your safe. Just breathe.”  As he repeated those words gently, eventually your grip on your lightsaber slacked and he placed it to one side.

He slowly guided you to sit at the edge of the bed, he crawled between your knees. The solid floor causing him to wince slightly at the contact. He knew that the upright position should help you. But his eyes were trained on you, your eyes were glazed over as if you were still dreaming, you were mumbling the word stop over and over. You began to rock back and forth slightly, suddenly clutching at your sides.

Crosshair placed your hands in his and asked you to breathe with him. In and out. In and out. In and out. You both repeated the breathing for a short while until you stopped shaking and rocking. Yet, your eyes remained trained on the floor unable to look at him. He removed one of his hands from yours and reached up to brush it against your cheek.

“Was it a nightmare about Order 66?” He asked and you nodded.

“Do you want to talk about it?” He queried cautiously and slowly. His deep voice vibrating through his body. You shook your head rapidly. His fingers were now playing with your hair as he gently stroked the side of your face, over your ear where he tucked your hair. Whilst he was doing this, something clicked into place in his head,

“You never stayed before because of your nightmares.” This wasn’t a question. Just a mere statement that was breathed out as he looked at you. Your eyes finally met his, and yours began to fill with tears.

“I’m sorry,” you sniffled, “I didn’t want you to see me like this. I always wanted to stay but I couldn’t let you see this. I’m sorry.” Crosshair’s heart lurched at your confession and tears.

“You have nothing to be sorry for. I want to help you if you have nightmares.” Crosshair sighed softly, his hand landing on your shoulder, where he rubbed small, feather-like circles on your bare skin. “I care about you. I don’t want you to be alone, particularly when you’re hurting.”

“I care for you too, Crosshair.” You whispered softly.

"I knew my attempts to make you stay weren't that subtle." You couldn't help but giggle slightly and shortly at this.

"N-no, I picked up on those signals a long time ago." You retorted gently. He offered up a small smirk and brushed his knuckles of tear stained cheek once more. He reached up and placed a small kiss to your forehead.

Realising he had nothing further to say, Crosshair crawled back across the bed and lay on his back. You simply watched him as he did so. When he opened his arms for you, you crawled back to him, laying with your head on his chest.  You were still shaking a little, but you slowly calmed as he stroked your back gently. He was warm and comfortable but he had become stoic and calm to in equal measure. You couldn't help but wonder what he was thinking about and so you asked him what was on his mind. He dipped his head down to look at you and you were already looking up at him.

"I'm thinking about your nightmares. About Order 66." He said softly, still stroking your back. He was silent for a moment before he added, "no matter what comes our way, I'll always protect you."

"I know." You murmured into his chest as the heaviness of sleep began to wash over you. Eventually, you both fell back to sleep. There were no more nightmares that night.
