Underrated Yoohan bit is whenever Han SooYoung tries to cut herself off the Company to do something morally reprehensible for Kim Dokja's sake, absolutely sure she is about to sever her bond with them and walking away for good. And then she blinks and Yoo Joonghyuk is literally just behind her like I Agree but I'm Not Saying It Out Loud.

sometimes i think abt yoohan bc they’re like. i destroyed your life. it wasn’t for you. i would do it again. i would ask you to do it again. i created you. i’ve been waiting for you to catch up. i won’t make you do it alone this time. let me write the story with you. help me do it right, this time.

yeah yeah yoohankim anyways yoohan. is frying my brain. han sooyoung and yoo joonghyuk laying togwther and shes running her hand through his hair and encounters, at the back of the neck where the hair starts to grow out, a mole she didnt know he had. and she has to stop and take a minute to process the relief in finding a trait of his that she didnt give him. this man, whom she carved out of her own chest and pasted together piece by piece, having achieved such small, unknown personhood. and then hes like What is it whyd you stop petting me and shes like I suddenly realized how much I hate you and smacks him in the face and they have a fight that levels three buildings.

no. ill say it with my full chest yoohan makes me go CRAZY what if i wrote you and i still didnt fully understand you but its okay bc no one can fully understand one another what if you were to blame for writing me into such misery what if i decided it wasnt your fault and forgave you what if i was still a writer and you were still a character but this time i was also a character and you were my editor

I've already talked about yoohan's unhinged murder attempts we've all been there for that but here's the thing. yoohan can and absolutely is soft. they have the range!!! they check off every single box there is. Even the beep beep ones. I am absolutely correct in this and here's why:

YooHan is fundamentally two people who are utterly at odds with each other. YJH literally kills HSY's avatar right off the bat and it just gets better from there. They are biting maiming spitting at each other every time they meet. They have the same goals but they both think the other person's method sucks. They're both jealous of the other person getting to help KDJ in his deranged plan of the day. Both of them think KDJ is an idiot. They both think they're smarter than each other. and that's fantastic!! Exceptional fodder for a ship right there. But it doesn't end there.

KDJ fucks off and dies again and this time it's for 3 years. And what happens in the meantime? They grieve. They survive. They learn how to live. They teach the kids how to fight. This is on the tail end of yjh ripping open his soul in front of kdj. This is after yjh makes a commitment to keep going. And KDJ isn't there. So YJH and HSY (and the other adults ofc) are left to lead. They butt heads, of course, but the yoohan dynamic is fundamentally different after kdj returns. The hostility has died down. They know how to fight with each other. They know how to trust each other (to varying degrees *coughs the epic homewrecker-divorce scandal cough*) and they get it. They've got the same goals. They're going to bitch at each other the whole way but they're going to get it done.

And here's the thing. They've always had the same goals. That's why in 1863, yjh trusts hsy to seal him. That's why hsy looks him in the eye and says, I can make this stop. And maybe her method isn't the perfect one that kdj wants or the one that they all deserve, but it's the one she can make happen on her own. And it's one that yjh can live with.

Ok I won't go too much into epilogue because there's way too much yoohan content there for me to break that all down but. HSY had the same choice for yjh as she did for kdj. She could have ended YJH's suffering. She could have made it so that it never even happened. But in writing a story for kdj, she also wrote the story that brought yjh to life. If that story never existed, then the yjh that we know also would never have come to be. And when YJH tells HSY that the story she wrote helped him to survive in the emptiness of space. This is the story she wrote about him. This is the story she wrote where he survived.

Also I'm just gonna put it out there but. That paragraph of description about YJH's face? The one kdj has memorized? HSY wrote that.

every single day the realisation that yjh is literally the physical embodiment of hsy's love, hope, and desperation hits me like a truck and i die a little inside. like. she's spent lifetimes crafting him by pulling him out of the deepest corners of her heart, and even if he tries to become cold or unfeeling he will ALWAYS, first and foremost, be an existence made up of her purest emotions which means they get each other like nobody else, not even kim dokja :((

two characters who only ever know how to chase after someone that keeps slipping away, leaving them with the crushing weight of being lonely and INCOMPLETE, and whatever comfort they can find they find in each other's arms.

or. in other words. two characters who give pieces of themselves away for eternity without a word and are caught so off guard when they're together and directing that devotion at each other, making this the first time THEY are ever someone else's priority.
