Talking about fairies as depicted in popular fiction and folklore on Tumblr can be super frustrating because you’re constantly peppered with well-actualies from folks who are hugely overgeneralising the tropes of an excruciatingly narrow set of sources while refusing to examine – or even acknowledge – the actual context of those tropes. It’s like trying to discuss the plot of Terminator with somebody who can’t get past the fact that Arnie broke Asimov’s Laws of Robotics.
as promised, the transplanting tutorial
most sources make transplanting sound incredibly difficult, but transplanting young seedlings from areas with sparse dirt, like a driveway or roadside, is actually incredibly easy and can get you some great stuff. Once I worked out the method, i've had a very high survival rate
it took me like a month of trial and error to figure this out so you don't have to.
Feel free to repost, no need for credit
Having moment where I think so hard about fictional character but there is no new content and I don’t feel like doing anything so I am just sitting here vibrating at maximum speed rotating said character in my mind

Concept: a low-level Dungeons & Dragons adventure that’s initially presented as a standard “retrieve valuable treasure from bottom of dungeon at behest of wealthy patron” scenario.
As they enter the dungeon, the first thing the player characters encounter is a trap, clearly already triggered, with the long-dead bones of a previous adventurer caught inside. They can loot the corpse or not, as they prefer; it’s not a trick, and the trap is no longer dangerous.
As they delve deeper into the dungeon, they encounter further already-triggered traps, in a wide variety of increasingly imaginative forms, some with dead adventurers in them, some with dead monsters. What they do not, however, encounter are any living monsters or untriggered traps.
Finally, they reach the bottom of the dungeon, where they find the treasure: the Under-King’s personal living quarters, full of magically preserved Fifth Dynasty furniture, priceless to the right sort of collector, and untouched by looters due to the aforementioned traps. Bringing it out of the dungeon intact will be a slow and awkward proposition, of course, but the path is conveniently clear.
… that is, until the party ventures beyond the chamber’s threshhold, and the air is immediately filled with the telltale creaks and clicks of all the traps they just walked past automatically resetting.
Bilbo was declared dead while he was away in the Hobbit (and had to do a bunch of paperwork to get declared alive again) but there’s no indication he was formally declared dead after leaving the Shire, even though most people assumed he had died.
Therefore I posit: having a missing person declared dead in the Shire requires the consent of their next of kin. Whoever Bilbo’s next of kin was at the time of the Hobbit (possibly Otho? I’m not sure) had him declared dead at the first opportunity but Frodo refused to ever do it.
Frodo had anxious hobbit bureaucrats knocking on his door every couple of years like ‘Mr Baggins… blease… it’s been 10 years… he was eleventy-one… can we fill out his death certificate yet’ and Frodo was like ‘absolutely not’.
Early on he genuinely couldn’t bring himself too but after a while it was more that he enjoyed irritating the local magistrate’s office than anything else.
Finally creating a pinned post of my games. I’ve included all titles I’ve been involved with in some capacity, not just ones where I’m the author; when I’m not the author, I’ll note my role in (parentheses).
This post will be updated over time to reflect changes in the status of these projects, so if you’re looking at a reblog, feel free to click through to the original and see if it differs.

Tiny frog wizards are very susceptible to trends.
(Tiny Frog Wizards is a self-explanatory tabletop roleplaying game currently in development; the latest playtest draft is available here. Frogs and orb(?) courtesy of @amphibianaday.)
had a dream where piendish was following me around repeating that phrase endlessly and this was the only way to describe how i felt waking up
Can't wait for the next one! These are great 👍
just watching him
One minute I think I’ve finally gotten this whole kitchen safely thing figured out and the next I’m staring down the barrel of a meter-high fountain of butter chicken sauce.
Crash
Okay. I only sleep with one pillow, but I also have 1-3 very large stuffed animals in bed with me and at least one smaller stuffed animal that wrap my arms around so honestly we actually have pretty similar sleeping habits.
wait how many pillows do regular people need
I mean. I'm just saying. There are already ghost-type pokémon that eat human souls, so really I wouldn't be surprised if it turned out some Pokemon ate the flesh too. Also, humans totally eat pokemon, and pokémon totally eat each other. Check out this curry that looks suspiciously like Kingler:
are pokemon carnivorous?
every once in a while i'll think of Rocky all alone on that ship for forty years with no one to watch him as he slept
so I guess they’re making Project Hail Mary into a movie and I for one am cautiously stoked to see how they try to translate Rocky, the dog-sized space spider who wears overalls and regularly does jazz-hands, from page to screen without it looking absolutely fucking bonkers
Project Hail Mary is the story of one man’s struggle to be more expressive than his environment allows.
Just finished the book I would die for him actually
ahem. this is a book review, aka me rambling about a book i consumed at light speed because i loved it so much.
Official Title: "Project Hail Mary" by Andy Weir Just Made Me Cry On My Couch So Now I Must Speak About It
not spoiler free
first off the plot is insane. like, kudos to andy weir for thinking that. ALL THAT. holy SHIT.
second of all, let me talk about ryland grace as a character. he is SUCH a likeable main character it's insane. smart in unique ways, funny, Just Some Dude, a middle school teacher, an astrobiologist. a man who's not afraid to cry or show emotion. a man who is a cinnamon roll of an astronaut. He Is So Amazing And I Love Him
and how could i talk about grace without talking about rocky?? rocky... not going to lie i was very caught off guard when a sentient alien showed up, but he turned out to be so smart and adorable it killed me. also ERIDIANS SPEAK IN MUSICAL CHORDS. THATS SO COOL
(side not: eventually grace was able to tell what chords rocky was speaking without looking at his computer. what i'm saying is that grace basically developed perfect pitch to talk to aliens and i think that's cool of him. my musician heart approves.)
the sheer strength of the friendship between grace and rocky... like, the initial trust that neither will destroy each other, which moves to them working together as scientific partners and friends - best friends because grace has no one else.:. the instinct to protect each other... *screams because hope is real*
ASTROPHAGE. WHAT THE HELL. THEYRE SO COOL. i mean besides the fact that they were actively causing at least two apocalypses - as a concept, a microscopic object (even if it weren't a living thing) that absorbs THAT much energy is just an INSANE concept. and they make neutrinos. like the fucking sun. and they eat star radiation. what the fuck. thank you for the brain food, andy weir
screw stratt for literally jailing grace and sending him to space, however that does not disqualify her from badassery.
DMITRI IS AMAZING also briefly i thought him and grace had a thing. yeah i can't go five fucking minutes without seeing gay people but i don't care. i don't care. ryland grace is mildly bisexual. you hear me?
the hilarious russian people in this book sustained me
a s t ro p h a g e E A T S T A R S
grace's crewmates died but in that time he was alone he never lost hope. humans, huh? (i mean that's probably because he literally lost his entire memory and only recovered it in pieces, but still)
if this were a movie... i have no idea how they would pull that off
somehow this book was very high-stakes while being comforting at the same time?? like yes the ship failing and the taumeba and everything stressed me out, but also alien friends and earth friends. grace had friends in memory and a friend in real time
(his realization that eridians don't know about radiation or relativity... damn. they were living in the dark. but they were doing so quite literally, because they had no way of knowing what was out there. how did they make star maps????)
this book made me like humans a little more
anyway that's all i have to say, for now at least. PLEASE read this book if you like science fiction and little alien guys. (i mean if you read that sentence you've probably read the book, but. k i will stop typing now)
Since I finished The song of Achilles I picked up my next book to read, and one thing I do when starting a new book is read the very last page of the book, without context it usually makes no sense but it makes me get interested in how we will get there.
So I picked to read Project Hail Mary by Andy Weir and I…
They raised their what?!?!

Get your Tumblr 2021 Year in Review →
——————————————————————————————-
Happy New Year all! Here’s my Tumblr Year in Review for 2021! Hope you enjoyed all the lovely low poly fellas in 2021, here’s to all the new ones we’ve yet to meet in 2022!
I am almost certain somebody’s made this note before, but. Man. The way memes on most platforms nowadays have a shelf-life so short that by the time you’re done making one, it’s out of style… compared with how ones on Old Internet could go a couple years and still be OK.
But Tumblr? Tumblr has always been the same. It’s kind of like a reminder of the ways of old. You introduce a meme to these people? It is NEVER going away. In 2022, Spiders Georg lives in harmony with Blorbo From My Shows; Ebony Dark’ness Dementia Raven Way follows the little German boy into the cave of Bluntsmoken; Sans Undertale thrashes Plinkos Plonko, the Plinko Horse. Maybe it’s that we’re not like other sites (true), or that we’re less susceptible to cringe culture, but there’s something about the lifespan of our memes that warms my heart.
