MASH S5E2 “Margaret’s Engagement”
Frank: *to Margaret* Might be nice to have a little youth for a change.
Hawkeye: Is it too late to fake my death?
Incredibly popular and influential book series I read as a kid: Harry Potter, Percy Jackson, Magic tree house, Thea Stilton, The lion the witch and the wardrobe, Wings of fire, Bone, A series of unfortunate events.
The book series that all of my writing takes after: Spirit Animals
I can’t actually put into words why I love him as much as I do.
For the sake of my mental and physical health, I may have to stop watching 9-1-1
(Little explanation)
This is a fairly liberal interpretation of the word ‘fanart’ but it is art inspired by the book I read, which is what I’m going for. The main take away from this book for me was that Ancient Greek philosophers and those three side characters in Dazed and Confused have something in common, and that is that they both represent the way me and my friends get together and have deeply existential conversations for the fun of it. Philosophy hasn’t changed, just the way the philosophers dress.
ART FOR EVERY BOOK I READ THIS SUMMER PART 3: THE SECRET HISTORY BY DONNA TARTT
Life got busy and I forgot about this project but now I’ve recommitted. Soon, you’ll have art for my entire 2024 summer book list!
(Guess who my favorite character was)
Guys bj is afraid he won’t recognize his family when he goes home and Hawkeye is afraid his family won’t recognize him… and they both know it’s going to be true
So why would you do this to me?
(Actually fantastic headcannons)
Do you think trapper went back home and resumed his life? Any headcanons you have about why he never wrote hawkeye?
In coming Trapper stuff:
I think that when Trapper (and pretty much everyone else) went home, they did do their upmost to try and resume where they had left off, as any of us would.
The war definitely did have impact on Trapper. Most notably, when he was on that plane going back to the states, he was shaking like a leaf and holding onto his arm rest for dear life. If they served alcohol on that flight, you could bet he was knocking them back, as they crossed the Sea of Japan (R.I.P Henry).
When arrived at the airport in Boston, Louise and the girls were there waiting for him holding up a big sign that said, "Welcome Back Daddy!"
And he cried tears of joy as he held Becky and Kathy, which didn't go unnoticed by Louise, who he kissed very passionately (and took her by surprise).
He threw himself headlong into being a father again, and I'm not going to say that he completely stopped cheating (as its heavily implied he was cheating before the war), but he definitely toned it down a bit...was a bit more there for Louise. They also had more kids.
Trapper developed night terrors. When he was awake he was all loving a jokey and "Nah, it's cool. The war couldn't touch me." but when he was asleep, the truth came out. Louise would wait till it was safe to touch him, and then she'd hold him real close and tight. She'd remind him over and over again that he was safe.
I believe that Trapper did leave a note for Hawkeye. He left it inside his hat, but when Frank decided to clean The Swamp, he chucked it. I don't think Frank even saw the note, he just didn't want Trapper's stupid hat there anymore. (It would be in character for Frank to know about the note being in the hat and have that be his motivation for throwing it away, but Frank also can't keep secrets or lie very well, and he would have eventually said something about it to Hawkeye or Margaret with his attempt at an evil laugh).
Trapper also wrote to Hawkeye pretty soon after he settled back at home. Unfortunately, that was right around the time that the army declared Hawkeye dead. Trapper got his mail sent back to him, saying that Hawkeye was dead.
So Hawkeye thinks that Trapper didn't care about him
and Trapper thinks his wartime bestie was killed.
