Jiafei breathed deeply in the balcony. The pungent smell of firecrackers in the field was agonising. Her nostrils felt like they were on fire. Right. Time for a puff from her inhaler.

She reached deliberately slow to her pockets, as if savouring the burning feeling of the firecracker soot still lingering around her nose. It was a feeling of unexplained joy—a new year had begun. A new era, full of life and hope.

She breathed deeply. One puff. Two. Kai Cenat really knew his stuff, making these inhalers. Back into her pocket. She caught herself thinking of Cupcakke as she stared into the distance. If only she could make it from Ohio to Floptropica on New Years'.....

Jiafei felt two warm hands snaking around her waist, and a pair of long nails like talons asserting their hold around her. She smiled a knowing smile. Her high pitched voice droned. "Guess you're here, finally".

Cupcakke merely hummed as she buried her face in Jiafei's neck, kissing it softly. Her bright pink nails caressed Jiafei's face, making her face herself. She leaned into Jiafei's ear, and whilst smiling softly, whispered—"I could never leave you alone on New Year's, love. You're the light of my life, fire of my loins. Happy New Year's."

Jiafei closed her eyes in serenity as she felt Cupcakke's moist lips close in around her, a warm embrace contrasting to the chilly surroundings.
