I Adore This, I Don't Know Why But I Do 🤩

I adore this, I don't know why but I do 🤩

And if I had the money I would, instead I'll share it.

At the gate for my flight home from visiting friends and there's a woman here with a service Shiba Inu. No pics because he has a Do Not Disturb vest and taking pics of strangers is illegal but I need to stress how ON DUTY this animal is. Ears up. Eyes doing Lazer scans of everything. Examining everyone who passes within 10ft like a security guard. Ass planted on her feet. I have never seen a dog with such intense chivalric guardian energy before. He has tiny eyebrows and they are FURROWED with concentration.

When Brazilian graphic designer Carol RossettiĀ began posting colorful illustrations of women and their stories toĀ Facebook, she had no idea how popular they would become.Ā

Thousands of shares throughout the world later, the appeal of Rosetti’s work is clear. Much like the street art phenomenonĀ Stop Telling Women To Smile, Rossetti’s empowering images are the kind you want to post on every street corner, as both a reminder and affirmation of women’s bodily autonomy.Ā

ā€œIt has always bothered me, the world’s attempts to control women’s bodies, behavior and identities,ā€ Rossetti toldĀ MicĀ via email. ā€œIt’s a kind of oppression so deeply entangled in our culture that most people don’t even see it’s there, and how cruel it can be.ā€

Rossetti’s illustrations touch upon an impressive range of intersectional topics, including LGBTQ identity, body image, ageism, racism, sexism and ableism.Ā Some characters are based on the experiences of friends or her own life, while others draw inspiration from the stories many women have shared across the Internet.Ā

ā€œI see those situations I portray every day,ā€ she wrote. ā€œI lived some of them myself.ā€

Despite quickly garnering thousands of enthusiastic comments and shares on Facebook, the project started as something personal — so personal, in fact, that Rossetti is still figuring out what to call it. For now, the images reside in albums simply titled ā€œWOMEN in english!ā€œ or ā€Mujeres en espaƱol!ā€œ which is fitting: Rossetti’s illustrations encompass a vast set of experiences that together create a powerful picture of both women’s identity and oppression.

One of the most interesting aspects of the project is the way it has struck such a global chord.Ā Rossetti originally wrote the text of the illustrations in Portuguese, and then worked with an Australian woman to translate them to English. A group of Israeli feminists also took it upon themselves to create versions of the illustrations inĀ Hebrew. Now, more people have reached out to Rossetti through Facebook and offered to translate her work into even more languages. Next on the docket? Spanish, Russian, German and Lithuanian.

It’s an inspiring show of global solidarity, but the message of Rossetti’s art is clear in any language.Ā Above all, her images celebrate being true to oneself, respecting others and questioning what society tells us is acceptable or beautiful.

ā€œI can’t change the world by myself,ā€ Rossetti said. ā€œBut I’d love to know that my work made people review their privileges and be more open to understanding and respecting one another.ā€ā€

šŸ’œšŸ’œšŸ’œ

Obsessed with authors like Naomi Novik whose books always seem to say ā€œno, fuck that, there is another way than cruelty, and we do have a choice to be decent, and not choosing it isn’t a burden but a cop out.ā€

Authors like Neil Gaiman whose books seem to say ā€œwe are all simply human, and that is so valuable. This world is worth more because we are in it, when we choose to notice and careā€

Authors like Brandon Sanderson whose books say ā€œWe are all a little broken, and there is strength in not turning away from us, and there is pain in healing but there is also strength and hope.ā€

Seriously, these folks do more for my faith and hope in this life than any religion ever has. I don’t have the words to describe it yet but just. Warm cup of apple cider held close to the chest on cold autumn night?? That’s the best I got

These tags, tho! But I always thought that meds were made small so they were over and done with more easily than the herbal.

Because it's true, you may never know who needs to know this.

FEMA is doing an emergency alert test on all TVs, radios, and cell phones on October 4, 2023, at approximately 2:20pm ET.

If you live in the US and you have a phone you need to keep secret for any reason, make sure that it is turned off at this time.

Yes, I'm doing this months in advance, and yes, my blog has very little reach, but I figure better to post about it more than less.

Please reblog and add better tags than mine, I'm bad at tags.

This, I had a scare myself and while it wasn't anything bad, it could have been.
