Breaking pots, since I played three different Zelda games....
🤣🤣🤣😂
OP made the post unrebloggable but said it's fine to screenshot and I'm in love with this
This!!! I am so excited because I am so bad at posting comments, even on ones that I reread.
In the spirit of encouraging people to comment on fanfics while also making it easier to do so, I feel obliged to share a browser extension for ao3 that has quite literally revolutionized the comment game for me.
I present to you: the floating ao3 comment box!
From what I've seen, a big problem for many people is that once you reach the comments at the bottom of a fic, your memory of it miraculously disappears. Anything you wanted to say is stuck ten paragraphs ago, and you barely remember what you thought while reading. This fixes that!
I'll give a little explanation on the features and how it works, but if you want to skip all that, here's the link.
The extension is visible as a small blue box in the upper left corner.
(Side note: The green colouring is not from the extension, that's me.)
If you click on it, you open a comment box window at the bottom of your screen but not at the bottom of the fic. I opened my own fic for demonstrative purposes.
The website also gives explanations on how exactly it functions, but I'll summarize regardless.
insert selection -> if you highlight a sentence in the fic it will be added in italics to the comment box
add to comment box -> once you're done writing your comment, you click this button and the entire thing will automatically copied to the ao3 comment box
delete -> self explanatory
on mulitchapter fics, you will be given the option to either add the comment to just the current chapter or the entire fic
The best part? You can simply close the window the same way you opened it and your progress will automatically be saved. So you can open it, comment on a paragraph, and then close it and keep reading without having the box in your face.
Comments are what keep writers going, and as both a writer and a reader, I think it's such an easy way of showing support and enthusiasm.
I will admit that I will go for completed works first but to just disregard works that are 'only' 90k or 47k, like that's a good twenty (20) to forty (40) pages at least in a word document. And not all fandoms have things that are that high in words...
I think some people (myself included) think that 100k is short because we are used to reading fic of more than 250k but you are right. I know that 100k is a lot of work and effort but that does not mean that because of our very twisted way of seeing things, we do not value every word that writers share with us (or at least that is my case)
hmm i’ve seen people say “i won’t read a fic if it’s less than 300k because it’s not worth my time,” and i’ve seen people demand more more more more despite a writer giving them a 80-100k story (a literal book). so i get that reading fic of more than 250k might skew perception, but even 20k, 40, 80k — that’s a lot of work. time. effort. thought. care. not all writers have the time or energy to write 800k epics. it doesn’t make their work any less worth praise and love, which is what i’d really like this fandom to wrap its head around.
Here's me being mid-30s.
This is an experiment to see if there really are as few of us as people think. You can also use this to freak out your followers who think you’re 25 or something. Yay!
I actually have a post about something like that for hearing aids!
Hey as someone who isn't disabled and has never used or needed mobility devices, I just wanted to let you all know that it is so fucking cool when people accessorise/decorate/style their mobility devices to match their outfit and style. Like this one time I saw an older lady dressed entirely in yellow and her cane was yellow and had daisies on it and I still remember that sometimes with joy! Yay yellow lady! Or the punk kid I once saw with skull stickers on their wheelchair and a studded wrap on the back of the backrest.
If you've got a mobility tool of some sort and you've wanted to do something to jazz it up somehow but felt too self-conscious about doing it because what if it doesn't look good, I'm gonna tell you that you 100% should. It's so neat to see people personalise their devices, like they're telling you "this is not a foreign object, this is an extension of my body and outfit and will be styled accordingly."
And I just think that's neat.
😻😸🎃
I went in the code again and saw the new Boop paws were vectors this time, so I converted them into some good sized pngs that are a little easier to work.
Save and share to boop your people later!
This, okay, all of this!!!
We need like “unclench your jaw” posts but for eye strain. Like
Go look at something 20ft away for 20 seconds.
when two musicians sing into the same microphone and lean in very close to each other… like omg are you guys gonna kiss now to relieve the homoerotic tension?😳
So that's what I heard... Being hard of hearing and not sure what you think you heard is always wild 🤣
