HELP LGBTQ REFUGEES SURVIVE š³ļøāš
Hello,
I hope this message finds you well. Iām reaching out with a heavy heart and hope you can lend a hand. Iām a queer refugee from Uganda currently residing in the Gorom Refugee Camp in South Sudan. For nearly five years, Iāve been in exile due to severe threats related to my sexual orientation.
Currently, I represent over 300 LGBTQ+ individuals in desperate need of assistance. Our situation is critical, and we urgently require support to ensure our survival and safety. If you can, any donation, no matter how small, would be immensely helpful. If you're unable to contribute financially, sharing this message with others could connect us with someone who can.
Your support could truly change our lives. For more information and to contribute, please visit:
Thank you so much for considering our plight.
Warm regards,
Calvinphil and LGBTQ Refugee communityš³ļøāš
I saw the part about how the patriarchy also negatively affects men, and I wanted to expand(?) a bit more on that.
Yes, the patriarchy centers around having men in the main position of power, both at the home and on the political scene (to name a few examples), but it also sells the idea to men that they have these conform to the stereotypes that the patriarchy perpetuates.
And Iām not ignoring the great privilege the patriarchy gives to men, but we canāt ignore the harm that it also causes them.
The idea that men HAVE to be leaders, that they HAVE to be strong, that they CANāT be vulnerable
We should be able to recognize the harm the patriarchy causes to women without pushing the harm it causes all other genders, but specifically men in this instance, out of the picture.
I want there to be fewer MRAs. Do you want that too? Do you want to know what helps us get there, from a feminist perspective?
You may not like my answer: acknowledge that sexism can affect men. Recognize that, although the patriarchy generally privileges men, they are also subject to restrictive gender roles that are harmful to them (shunning all things āfeminine,ā not showing emotions, being protectors/strong, never admitting being victims of SA/IPV, having to āearnā their manhood, etc.).
Give young men a place other than the right-wing manosphere to be heard about the issues they experience. If these grifters are telling them āonly we understand how hard it is to be a man, the left hates you for your genderā and they look to the left and see āmen claiming they have āproblemsā are losers who just hate women, all men are trash,ā do you think theyāre going to be drawn towards or away from feminism?
Before you leave an angry response: no, this does not mean to center men instead of women in feminism, it just means including them at all. No, it is not ācoddlingā men to treat them with human dignity, you can and should continue to hold them (and every other gender) responsible for unpacking sexist beliefs. No, this does not mean it is every individual womanās and feministās responsibility to prioritize menās issues, it just means at the least not shutting them down when they do speak up about sexism. No, it is not ānot all men-ingā to point out that āmen are trashā sentiments hurt the feminist movement rather than helping it. Ask questions before you make accusations on this post, please. I have been abused by men too, I get it, this isnāt easy to hear.
Damn, looks like I have to add this bird to my list of favorite birds
Common Potoo (Nyctibius griseus), mother with chick, family Nyctibiidae, order Nyctibiiformes, Brazil
Potoos used to be in the same order as nightjars, but are now placed in their own order.

Iāll make sure to post an update once Iām able to make an account
I have a Wattpad account that I post my writing on and I want to know if I should also make an ao3 account and post my work on there as well
So every now and again I look over a note thing (idk) that my cardiologist sent to my primary physician (yes I do have access to this) and towards the bottom of the note he lists a thing of diagnoses and in that list is in his words: āNo clinical evidence of connective tissue disorderā
What does that even mean??? Like Iām pretty sure I donāt have a connective tissue disorder and Iām taking āno clinical evidence of connective tissue disorderā to be indicative of that, but what was the point of putting it under āDiagnosesā?
This doesnāt necessarily require/need any answer. Really I just felt like venting(?) out my confusion of this phrasing(?), but if you happen to know and wish to answer my inquiries go ahead
Hahaha donāt we love being behind with school work (I have multiple assignments overdue)
Would tags like "photosensitive"/ "photosensitive warning" or "flashing lights warning" work out and what other tags should we use as well to prevent this from happening?
I don't have any posts regarding flashing lights, but if I happen to post something like that in the future, I want to make sure I'm tagging appropriately
I need every single person to understand how horrible tumblrās tagging system is
I go into the tag for epilepsy and its all flashing lights. We canāt use our own tag because people without epilepsy fill it up with improper warnings.
UseĀ āflashingā in place of āepilepsyā in your tags. You arenāt warning people of epileptics, youāre warning us of flashing lights. Please please tag properly. Epileptics say this endlessly and constantly and itās ignored. You are risking lives by doing this.
Hereās proof of what I mean:
